  1. Ok so yesterday was the first time I couldn't complete an exercise. I was doing week 10 day 2 of couch to 10k and I was supposed to run 15 mins walk 1 min repeat three times. I could not get myself to do the last 15 min run. I even tried taking a longer walking break and still couldn't do it. I'm trying again tomorrow evening but if I can't do it should I repeat the previous week or just keep trying?

  2. I down loaded the 'endomondo' app to use post C25K and I'm really happy with it.

I just read about this app in my women's health magazine so after you recommended it too I downloaded it. I'm gonna try it out next weekend when I run outdoors. During the week I stick to the treadmill at the gym since I'm a stay at home mom and my kid can play in the kids club while I workout. :)

  3. Need to get some running shoes....Suggestions as I wear orthopedics and have titanium joints in my big toes' date=' and arthritis in my feet. Had knee replacement 2 years ago. Training for a 5 K in May.[/quote']

Today I went to a place called roadrunner sports. It's a specialty running store. They take all kinds of measurements of your foot and analyze your stride while you run on a treadmill then they help you find the best shoe for your feet. They will even mold inserts to your foot. I would definitely recommend finding a store near you that will do the same. There are so many running shoes out there and really helps to have someone knowledgable help you. I always thought my feet were flat and I learned I actually have high arches. I'm excited to try out the shoes I got.

  4. I discovered I really need the extra push I get from following a program so I put myself back on week 5 and have upped my speed (treadmill) to 5mph. I'd been doing 4.5-4.7 before.

I have a crazy few weeks coming up - events every weekend with a 4-day Disneyland trip with my 4yr old in early May... but I NEED to find time to exercise because I get so down when I slack off!

Have you looked at the C210K program? I decided to download that one and I'm gonna go for it. I'm only on week 7 day 1 of the 5k so I still have a lot of work to do.

  5. I have a question for you all: is anyone else feeling really exhausted after running? Today I did week 6 day 1 and I honestly wanted to lay down and take a nap when I got home. I've noticed I've been feeling like this the last couple of weeks. I don't run very fast (4.5 mph) so I don't think I'm over doing it. I have been increasing my speed a little bit during the jogging portion to keep from getting bored but its not for very long and still not fast. As far as diet goes I'm eating about 800 calories, 80 grams Protein, about 80 oz Water, and less than 45 carbs a day. I'm only 4'11 so I think 800 calories is a lot. Any advice guys?

  6. Hey LuLu! Great question :). I actually opted to follow Dr. Cirangle's post op guidelines rather than Dr. Garcia. Dr. Cirangle is with LapSF in San Francisco and his patients are wildly successful at meeting or getting below goal. I frequent Obesity Help and have learned so much from his post op patients. His plan is more structured...and I don't know about you...but I really need structure. His guide is 35 pages long and has amazingly detailed informations down to the best quality yogurt brand to have. I'm glad that I stayed with clears a little longer too' date=' because I wanted to make sure I could meet my Fluid goal of 60 oz per day before moving up. And. Am finally getting there. Yesterday I started regular Protein shakes and they filled me up quick! So far I am 9 days out and down 16 pounds and I feel incredible![/quote']

Oh cool! Is there a place where I can view his diet guidelines? I would love to read something with more detailed instructions.

  7. Hey guys! Just wanted to give you guys an update. I didn't have my surgery till 5:30 last night because Dr. Garcia was doing an emergency surgery at the government hospital. All I remember is laying on the operating table thinking "what the hell am I doing" and I saw the anesthesiologist put something in my iv and the next thing I know I'm waking up in recovery. I've had a ton of gas but its more uncomfortable than painful. The only bad part is I have had a lot of nausea and have been throwing up a ton. Finally got that under control. I am supposed to go home tomorrow but the doctors may push for me to stay one day at the hotel so we will see. I just miss my baby and want to go home to him. Thanks for all the well wishes!

  8. Hey everyone, I'm at the hospital waiting for dr. Garcia right now. I have my iv in which went better than when I had one for my c section. When they put the medicine for nausea and antibiotics in my line I guess they did it too fast and I immediately felt nauseous and threw up. Dr. Luna came by and he wasn't concerned about the nausea. By the way, he is super hot. :)

Only bad thing is last night I started to feel sick so I have a head cold right now. Wish me luck. I am so unbelievably nervous. I have to do well so I can get home to my two year old. I miss him so much already.

  9. I was type 2 and the last time I took anything to control my diabetes was the day before surgery. My surgeon did have to give me one or two doses of insulin immediately post op because of how the anesthesia can affect your blood sugars' date=' but other than that I've been fine.

Within a matter of weeks I was testing high normal on my sugars. I stopped testing completely around nine months post op, because my sugars never left the 90-110 range.

I'm pregnant and recently had my glucose tolerance test. It turns out that my normal blood sugars stay around 67-75 and my one hour postprandial is normally between 120-140, but by two hours out I'm back at 67-75 again. It's absolutely amazing, honestly. I was worried I was running low but after a few days of monitoring recently my doctor said there is absolutely nothing wrong with me. I'm doing better than I ever could have hoped. My A1C just came back as a four - perfectly normal. :)

For many of us, the diabetes is completely resolved with the sleeve. Before I even lost weight, the drastic post op diet had my diabetes under control and it stayed that way. Here's hoping you have similar results!

This is what I'm hoping and praying for. My first pregnancy was so hard with all the insulin shots and testing. That is one of the biggest reasons I'm doing the surgery. I want to be healthier for my next pregnancy.

  10. Oh wow' date=' I put mine at 220 but even that is considered overweight for my height, but when I told my shrink my goal he laughed and told me not to expect it! I took that as a major challenge! Look out here I go!! Lol

I was 107 my senior year of high school 20 yrs ago. But, that was after losing quite a bit and even then I didn't feel like I was "skinny."

    Time will tell.[/quote']

I can't believe your shrink would laugh! What a jerk. You will definitely show him. I am confident we will both meet our goals. You've already done really well.
