  1. Hahahaha - me too :) although a friend of mine who was sleeved about 18 months ago told me that she had a nasty comment the other day - her beautician (nasty person anyway) told her to eat something "BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE A CANCER PATIENT"... gee people are mean! She looks amazing - I told her (1) not to go back and (2) to tell her to suck it :) So I guess we also have to watch out for people who want to put us down for losing weight as well as mock us for being overweight!

    1) There are lots of people out there who need a course in being "tactful"....like the beautician and 2) I think people who were around us as a heavy (obese) person have gotten soooo used to seeing us that way that when we make it (or made it) to a healthy weight they think we are too thin and 3) they could be jealous too!! :-)

  2. Hey y'all!

I am officially sleeved and I am cleared to sip on clear liquids. I am sore but have walked the halls a couple of times.. It seems to ease the soreness. I'm not really hungry.. But I am sipping. Thanks for all the prayers. I hope the rest of the August 6 sleevers are doing well and praying for the one going in today..... Talk to y'all soon!!*shan*

Congrats! Keep sipping and walking and keep us all posted on your progress!

  3. My experience.....

I had so many fears. Needles, surgery wouldn't happen, I would have to stare at those bright surgery lights, the meds wouldn't work. You name it I had it. None of it came true. The blood took two minutes and I did not even feel a pinch. The IV was so simple. Lay there and get comfy Kjarlune we will come get you soon. When they did it was a simple transfer to a moving bed...we are going to give you something to relax now...can you feel it....yep, and I was out...I do not even recall being wheeled out of the room. Woke up in my bed, after surgery asking my bf why they didnt do the surgery...but they had...I have had bowel pains worse than this surgery...the only downside was I got a cold...well hello I was on liquids for a month....

So for those waiting and fearing.....let it go...this part is a cake walk....hugs..

Thank you so much Icandothis for sharing your experience. I still have plenty of time to imagine all sorts of things about my surgery day!...thanks for helping put my mind at ease. And CONGRATULATIONS on being officially sleeved!!!!

  4. Stormwarning' date='

You can always PM me on FB if you need to tak about anything. Seriously, the drugs they give are awesome!! They really are amazing! I feel a slight pain on my left side(where stomach was removed). I got up and walked the about 5:15 because I had some slight chest pain. It was nothing compared to the way I have heard it described. Dr.A is so caring (his looks aren't bad either). He told Mark that my surgey was beautiful, my liver looks great.

Jessica is wonderful. She took Mark out to lunch and he really liked her too. All the staff are very kind. Most of the ***ht nurses speak very little or no English and they are in and out all ***ht long. Can't carry on casual conversation with them at all. Jesus is the one that takes care of Dr.A's patients, he speaks English very well. I just cannot tell you how I am amazed that I did this and i am so happy !!! You will be too. It is just such a good feeling!

I know that your are ICandithis will be the same after it is over. The mouth dryness is the worst thing but i just wet a washcloth and wiped my lips, swished and spit Water, I use blistex medicated cream on my lips (not waxey or greasy ) and I also bought a tube of the spray mouth freshener Binaca. Those have been life savers for me so far! I keep them with my glasses in a clam shell large case and the stay right beside me in the bed.

I will keep you posted on my day today![/quote']

What an amazing inspiration you are! I sincerely hope mine goes as smoothly! Congratulations!

Welcome Ebe. Greate to have you join the group....wonderful group if people!

  6. A friend of mine is seven months post and she hasn't experienced much hair loss at all. It probably is partly genetics and the rest is the amount of Protein and Vitamin consistency.

Oh, and the ***ht....it's a filter on the sight that keeps profanity and slurs in check. So, even though a ton of people posting type in n i g h t it will bleep the n - i - g of n i g h t because it is detecting it as a "slur". Clearly there are some flaws in the filter!

  7. Between now and the 14th you can lose 5, definitely! Have you tried putting reasons you wanna lose up on your fridge? Or maybe print out a picture of your ticker and add on your 5 pound goal weight so you are reminded every single time how close you are. You can do it!! =)

Thank you for the vote of confidence Izuri. That's a great idea about the "fridge list". Thanks.
