    Any Bay Area California Sleevers?

I'm glad you had a better day yesterday. Lots of good support on this site...keep coming back to reach out.

    Sleep Apnea

I have a friend that was sleeved in January and she didn't use her cpap at all after surgery. That seems dangerous to me. I'm at 6.0 pressure and hoping I'll get off soon after my surgery at the end of the month. I'm a stomach sleeper and soooo tired of waking up with mask marks on my face!!!
  4. My surgery center required a sleep apnea test before being cleared for surgery. It was explained that if you have untreated sleep apnea it could increase your risk of death during surgery. If you stop breathing during a regular nights sleep (sleep apnea) and you add powerful anesthesia to that equation you could stop breathing for good. Sleep apnea is also very hard on your heart and lungs. My surgeon requires a minimum of two months of cpap treatment before they will schedule surgery. I was disgnosed with severe sleep apnea and have been on my cpap for almost six weeks. I'm feeling much better when I wake up in the morning. But I'll be honest.....I can't wait to get off the machine!!!

5 Days Post Op And Down :(

Support is soooo critical right now. I had a friend who was sleeved in January and really struggled for the first few weeks. She said then and still says a solid support system is incredibly important.....so keep coming back to VST!!!

    Too Small

    1) There are lots of people out there who need a course in being "tactful"....like the beautician and 2) I think people who were around us as a heavy (obese) person have gotten soooo used to seeing us that way that when we make it (or made it) to a healthy weight they think we are too thin and 3) they could be jealous too!! :-)
  9. Welcome Raulena! I haven't been sleeved yet but I have found this site fabulous for easing concerns. It's imperitive to have a support group when you go through a major life change like this.....and this is a terrific place to start!!! Welcome.

    Tastes Have Changed...

I've heard the same thing from my friend who is 7 months post op. She hates the taste of water now ...but unfortunately her taste for ice cream is the same!

    Oatmeal With A Sleeve

It is so crazy how each Dr's programs are so different! My doctor said no oatmeal ever!
  16. It's great to hear you are home and doing ok. If left untreated I'm guessing that could have ended up being serious...so glad you went in.

    Kasier Permanente?

I'm with Kaiser in Northern California and it took 6 months from PCP referral to the surgery date. Considering I had to do a sleep test in the middle of it all....and start a CPAP I feel it went pretty quickly. Best wishes.

Ok Let The Hair Loss Begin

A friend of mine is seven months post and she hasn't experienced much hair loss at all. It probably is partly genetics and the rest is the amount of Protein and Vitamin consistency. Oh, and the ***ht....it's a filter on the sight that keeps profanity and slurs in check. So, even though a ton of people posting type in n i g h t it will bleep the n - i - g of n i g h t because it is detecting it as a "slur". Clearly there are some flaws in the filter!
