  1. That is a great weightloss. I was banded on sept 11th. I'm on full liquids but at my post op they said I could do refried beans with cheese and low fat sour cream. And mashed potatoes. I did have a luncheon turkey sandwich but I don't think that was a good idea just because I can do it doesn't mean I should. so today I was back to my normal diet jello, soup, beans blended and pudding. I can have my first fill on 3 weeks post op. I find that I can eat more in one sitting but I don't I pre measure everything to keep myself from over eating. My advice is follow your dr orders and know soft foods will come soon. This too shall pass. Hang in there
  2. I had my first post op apt today and it went very well to date I've lost 15 lbs. Dr was very pleased with my weightloss so far. I need to focus on getting my protein in. I go back in 4 weeks
  3. I have my post op appointment this morning at 8 am. I'll be glad once I talk to the surgeon and get more of an idea on what to expect with this port. it's weird throughout the day it feels like the port is more hidden but on the morning it s more pronounced feels like it's protruding.
  4. I was banded on 9/11
  5. Do any of you get crabby throughout the day due to lack of food? Around 1:30 or so I get extremely irritable it seems like anything will set me off until I get something in my stomach like soup or yogurt.I feel so depressed that I'm only able to eat liquids while everyone on the house is eating fried chicken, italian sausage etc. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself. Also adjusting to this new life style.
  6. Tonight I'm making a homemade lentil soup that I'm going to blend hopefully that extra protein will keep me fuller longer. I have my post op tomorrow morning so I'll ask some questions.
  7. Wallflower I was banded too on the 11th. I have the same issues at night all the noises my stomach makes I swear it wakes me up at night.can't wait to be on some sort of food again
  8. This confuses me. pretty much all yogurt is low fat but confused on which ones have the good sugar” natural”. I would like to try the drinkable yogurt or smoothies but want the best option a wk after surgery. Can someone please help me with this?
  9. I'm curious to know what everyone is eating 1 week from being banded. My day looks like this Breakfast: 1/4 cup cream of wheat, and a little yogurt Lunch: soup cream of broccoli blended, tomato etc dinner: more soup and blended cottage cheese I'll have sf popsicle at night And sf pudding, I also drink crystal light and water.
  10. Mine is under my left breast
  11. I m not sure of that is normal but I would call your dr to make sure. I was banded 6 days ago and its tender where my port is but I can't say it burns.
  12. Yes I had it bad.... I didn't do anything but ignore the itch and have out a gentle rub
  13. I'm in woodstock and just had my surgery on 9/11. Im feeling much better now but it was a harder post op then I thought. I was in a lot of pain from the surgery and gas for 4 days.I'm not as soar and am able to move around much better.
  14. I'm suppose to return back to work on 9/18 1 wk post op but I think I need another week to recoup. I'm still on pain meds 1-2 times a day plus I still haven't had my first bm and prefer to have that at home. I have my first post op appointment on wednesday. I'll call my dr to set if she will extend out one more week. I'm curious to know when everyone returned back to work after surgery.
  15. How soon will I be able eat a salad? I had surgery on 9/11 and am craving a healthy salad.
  16. I was banded on 9/11. Was at the hospital at 8:45 for a10:45 am surgery.I had my iv placed and a shot in my stomach to thin my blood. I was brought back to or around 11:45 and the next thing I remember is waking up in recovery in a lot of pain feeling like I couldn't breathe and throwing up. Once that subsided I was brought back to my room had an upper gI and dressed and walked around. I was released around 5. Once home I was very tired and in pain took some meds and slept the test of the day.I had alot of pain in my back neck and shoulder. I'm 5 days post op and still have pain from surgery and gas. I am still waiting to have a bm. I'm sure it will be a game changer if I could poop.
  17. I'm was a huge coffee drinker with reg flavored creamer. Since being banded I've switched to decaf but haven't had much coffee I miss it but I don't feel like I enjoy it as much as I use to. I've tried to drink out with sf creamer but it's not the same. Are my diehard coffee drinkers drinking something else that is just as satisfying? do you allow yourself your reg coffee with your reg cream?
  18. I can do cream of wheat, sf pudding, it's not on the list but I did runny mashed potatoes, homemade soup and yogurt. I was banded on 9/11 and have my post op apt on wednesday.so far per my scale I've lost another 3 lbs making the total 14 lbs.
  19. I make a butternut soup I saute 1 small onion with a tbs of butter until the onion is translucent then I microwave three butternut squash for 3 mins to soften then peel and dice also take the seeds out put it in with the onions and add approx 2.5 3 cups of water add chicken base and bring to a boil. Add marojam 1/4 tsb and 1/8 tsb of cyann pepper then once butternut is soft and tender put mixture in blender mix 1 brick of low fat cream cheese to blender add back to put and simmer until it thickens
  20. It was the first time I made a homemade soup since being banded. It was so yummy I put a little bit of butter with the onion then added the butternut and added some spices and low fat cream cheese and then blended. I think I'm going to get creative with other soups
  21. I'm on a full liquid diet so I've been having sf popsicles, sf pudding, cream soup strained. I'm burnt put on sf jello but I'm curious what all of you eating to get through this next week or two
  22. That is so funny that you posted this since I was wondering the same thing.I had surgery on tuesday and nothing. Not sure when to expect the first bowl movement, considering nothing really solid going in I've had soup sf popsicles jello and sf pudding. Any information on this would be helpful
  23. I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this pain after surgery. I had surgery on tuesday and when I walk I feel like I have charlie horses in my calves. I'm not sure if this is from the compression bags they put on my legs durning surgery or should I worry about blood clots I don't notice any bruising on my legs and I've been walking a lot
  24. I was banded yesterday and had the same thoughts yesterday and even today but I know I will do whatever I have to hit my goal. Its hard because this is an elective surgery and who in there right would put themselves through this pain. I'll tell you who ...all of us who had tried everything to lose weight and not been able to keep it off. The up and downs emotionally that impact our self esteem and our health. This surgery has a lot of benefits also it can cure a lot of aliments high cholesterol, diabities, heart disease etc. we are trying to beat this addiction to gain years to our lives. we can do it and we are all worth it and owe it to ourselves to live the best life we can.
  25. Kykhinkle I'm glad to hear your feeling better it certainly gives me hope that relief is around the corner. My dr called in norco pill form which is giving me more relief. I only got down 2 oz of my protein shake some broth and water. The gas has been traveling to my neck back and shoulder. I've been using a heating pad that seems to be helping. I haven't weighed myself yet because if I've gained any weight I think I'll start crying. when I went got my pre op testing at the end of august I weighed 240 yesterday I weighed 221 so I've lost 19 lbs so far. I'm very pleased with that considering I have an under active thyroid that slows my weight loss a lot.
