  1. Ok I'm here in the waiting room. Nervous doesn't even come close. Surgery time is 7:15 so quite a while to wait. Would appreciate prayers.
  2. Prayers for safe surgery and fast healing!
  3. One more day and I'll go in for a revision to sleeve and fix a hiatal hernia....getting the jetters. I have to be on two weeks of full liquids...what does that entail? Also I take BP meds and another med that is pretty big. What do you do..chop them up or did your doctor give you different meds? I just now thought about that.
  4. Good luck and safe surgery to all today and fast healing!
  5. What usually consists of FULL LIQUID DIET? That's my meal plan after surgery...I'll know more Thursday...the rest of the answers.
  6. Surgery to be Friday feb 22nd. Dr. Manuel Castro in Dallas. I live around the Possum Kingdom Lake area. Scared but sorta ready..ok..scared.
  7. Just got a call from the surgeons office..moving my surgery to THIS FRIDAY!! Geez! I'm feeakimg out trying to get everything in order to shave a week off of my regular date and schedule . I drive 3 hours one way to have my preOp at the hospital..then drive 3 hours home..work one day...go back to the surgeons office on Thursday for a day long class on having the sleeve and all that goes with it. No class no surgery...then Friday at 7:15 surgery... Shaking in my boots right now....but sorta happy its fast and furious instead of waiting. New surgery date of Feb. 22!
  8. LizTex. Where are you having surgery? Good luck Texas Sister and safe surgery
  9. What state are you two in? One moment I want to have it over TOMORROW and the next I want to back put....but...I KNOW this is the best for me. Good luck amd safe surgery
  10. Having Surgery 2-28-13....any surgery twins out there?
  11. HEY!! We're going to be surgery twins. 2-28-13 for me too. I've bought gummi vitamins at wal-mart because I can let them dissolve in my mouth and not worry at the very beigining about chewing them. I'm a band to sleeve so I've been through alot of this before. Just make sure to take some kind of vitamin...it definitely makes a difference in how you feel. Good luck on the losing side and safe surgery
  12. Anyone one else having a revision band to sleeve on that date or first WLS surgery? My doctor is dr. Manuel Castro in Dallas and Hospital is Forest Park Medical Cemter in Dallas. We can be surgery buddies. Then join in with the Febuary Sleevers.
  13. My family and a few others know I' had the lapband in 2007. Of course they noticed I lost weight (75lbs) but never got to goal. They never said anything negative and I was happy being 75 lbs down amd not really stressing about weight loss anymore....just coasting. 18 months ago starting to have problems...had upper GI and Endo 3 months ago and found....dilation of esophagus, prolasp of my stomach through the band. Port had flipped because of adhesions...my symptoms were extreme weight loss for 3 months then weight gain with nausea. And just feeling...not right. None of my family knew any of this except my husband. Now ..I'm telling some of my family since I'm having surgery to let them know....we're a close family. I'm really having a hard time explaining why I'm having the band out and going to a sleeve...since nothing really shows on the outside except I'm gaining weight because I can't keep solid Protein down and eat more slider foods. My siblings are asking why I don't just see if I can unfill and let it all go back like before...and they say surgery is dangerous. I'm just second guessing myself all over again. Maybe I want someone to tell me I can wait and everything will be fine....then I wonder how much damage waiting longer will do. I'm soooo feeakimg confused and scared of making the wrong decision like I did with the band..even though I thought amd was told it was the best thing out there for PERMANENT weight loss. My surgery date is Feb. 28th, 2013. Thanks for listening to my crazy ramblimgs.
  14. How long did you have to stay in the hospital? My self pay price allows for 3 days. Also if you have to walk and walk are you able to walk how soon after surgery
  15. I didn't think I would feel this way but I do. I'm wanting to back out! Part of me wants to keep hoping this band will magically do what it's suppose to do. I'm also self pay and freaked put about all the money I will spend . AND I'm self employed and have a strenuous job. Anyone else had a physical job and how long did you stay off of work. I frankly can't just enjoy not working...no work no pay bills. Any words of encougment would help right now. My surgery date is feb 28th!!
  16. Prayers for a Safe and fast healing surgery.
  17. Prayers for a safe and quick surgery and healing quickly
  18. Mine will be $16k..$8k? Where are you that it's so cheap?
  19. How or where did most of you self pay people get the money? I've looked into care credit and they won't even tell you the interest rate until you charge the amount to the card!! OK I'm not crazy and I would NEVER take out a credit card without knowing the rate. So I passed on that one. Medical financing was better rates and length of loan but they wanted $1,500.00 in cash up front just to give you the loan...that's on top of the interest rate.theres got to be a better way to finance the surgery. What did you do?
  20. I've read that after sleeve surgery you don't have to have much pain med. .....tarodol which isn't a narcotic is what most say they are given. Is it the same with a revision? I would think after removing the band and port plus any adhesions you would have quite a bit of pain for 3-4 days. Can anyone give me their experiences? Thank you
  21. Thanks to everyone for answering...I do know what it's like to have my Farwell meal amd work through all of that...I had a lapband in 2007. It's an ongoing progress with food issues but any WLS makes it doable as in loosing weight before always ended in a failure. I do know the reason for the revision just not how long I could put off the surgery. The reason...prolapse of my stomach through the band, hiatal hernia, dilated esphogaus AND gaining weight. I truly am fearful about having surgery in Mexico...I know many have had wonderful experiences..it's just not for me. It's so nice of you all to care enough to post.
  22. I'm self pay for a revision that is needed...how needed I can't get the surgeon to say other than things will get worse. The office said I could come in Feb 7th for pre surgery testing and a class then surgery feb 14th. One day I'm ready the next day I think I'll just wait. I don't KNOW WHY I cant committ. Maybe it's all the money that I really can't afford..maybe I don't want to go through the fear of another surgery and relearning to eat again. I've read stories about others that are fearful about the surgery...that's not my primary problem. Just typing this out is helping me understand that it has more to do with being off of work and losing money there and the loan I will have to pay back to have this done. I have a family so I feel I'm selfish in using all this money for me to be thin. This forum has been my research method so I've come here to see if someone can make sense of my jumbled thoughts. Thanks to all
  23. I will answer my own question. I met with Dr. Castro jan. 23. He is such a kind man. He answered every question I had and never rushed me. His office is efficient and caring. I've talked to another Doctor before Dr. Castro about the problems with my band ...and I wanted questions answered about a revision. Dr. Castro has done many revisions and considered a specialist on revisions from band to sleeve. While the first Doctor was nice....I never felt he was the one I could trust with my health. Dr. Castro though IS THAT DOCTOR for me I haven't decided on my sleeve date surgery but when I do...Dr. Manuel Castro will be my doctor.
  24. The thallium test is the one that costs 3-5k. I can't afford this as I'm self pay. I don't have any problems other than I'm over 50? I guess there's such a wide range of what each doctor wants just as there's no rhymn or reason for such strict predicts other than it's just .....what's ordered by each doctor. Sometimes it doesn't go by each person...just straight across the board everyone has the same thing. This makes me Leary of just being a number like I was with the lap band. I guess I'm scared about the whole process since the lap band journey was a LOT about the money..that they could make Thank you for all your input
