  1. I weighed 253 aug 29 2012 and today I weigh 189. I have to say I feel great and am happy with my decision of getting the surgery. I want to lose another 30 or 35lbs. People notice that I'm looking better and my boyfriend is laying down the compliments hard! Lol so happy ????
  2. I had surgery aug 29 2012 and before I was thinking should I practice to eat less and practice to not eat certain foods anymore or just pig out because I never will be able to again but I decided to pig out an I am glad I did. Food isn't the same anymore because you can't eat three pieces of pizza anymore plus three breadsticks. I can only eat half or one slice! It's amazing and you'll see. At first I was like no way this will work for me but it has!

    Hospital bag

I had my surgery August 29th and I would definitely say being Chapstick!! I don't know what happens to your mouth or lips after or during surgery that makes them so dry but Chapstick helped me out big time. Also slippers because you have to walk around a couple times. And yeah you might as well wear the clothes you wore there because you won't wear them long because you'll be in a hospital gown. I slept most of the time after surgery and the way home. I didn't need a pillow to press against my tummy it wasn't too bad but it was sore for a good week. Good luck. It's been the best decision I've ever made.
  4. I would say don't even start drinking it because it really isn't good for you. Regular pop has the sugar and carbonation and diet has the carbonation. My Dr kind of laughed when I asked if carbonation stretched your pouch bc he said no it won't. All I googled carbonation and gastric bypass and it says carbonation won't stretch your pouch. It can cause gas and a fullness like often burping. But other then that I drink it occasionally. Not everyday but maybe every other. Some say not to even get back in the bad habits.
  5. You don't need to weigh yourself everyday either if you have been. Your body is confused right now about why you have bee eating practically nothing! I've learned to take it one day at a time. Be happy that you made this decision and that your on your way to a happier healthier you!!

    Alcohol

I am 3 months post op and drink socially. Orange juice with pineapple juice and vodka gave me cramps but my Dr said it was probably the sugar. Also he said its okay after 3 months to have alcohol.

in dire need of a soda!

It's really up to you if you don't want to have pop or not. I have googled carbonation with gastric bypass and it says that it can't stretch it out. My Dr also said it can not. I'm just saying I like to have diet pop once in awhile if I'm out with friends or at social gatherings bc I don't like feeling limited from Everything!! I hate the feeling of dieting like anyone else
  8. So I am three months post op and down 50lbs. I am 200lbs and my goal is 160. I need to step it up!! To be honest I haven't worked out one day this whole 3 months!! Ok sure I walked and did a little but nothing you'd think it'd take to burn off 50 lbs. What are some exercises you do?? What helps you stay focused and not get bored or exercise?? Now that its winter you can go outside much. I need help to become more active!! I can't stop now!! 40lbs to go!!!

    Protein Strugglers

I drink the already made my protein shakes you can buy at Sams Club. They are 30 grams in once can and they taste like chocolate milk. Also low in sugar. I figure one for breakfast and another around dinner would be 60 grams. And plus food if be set for my protein for the day.
  11. I am so thankful and blessed to have had the surgery. I wouldn't change it and couldn't be happier with my choice to get it. I have my times when eating is harder then normal but the outcome is worth it. I loved food before and now food isn't the same. But that's good for me because pretty sure I was becoming addicted to food. I want to lose another 40-50 lbs. For anyone needing reassurance, gastric bypass was the best for me.

    need to step it up!

It's just hard sometimes bc I get bored or something. I've found I like riding a spinning bike with a video. I'll step it up and try it more.

in dire need of a soda!

    Yeah possibly.
  15. I doubted myself too in the beginning, like how can this possibly work for me?? But it will give it time. I say, I know I didn't put weight on over night, so the weight can't come off over night.
  16. That's an awesome feeling knowing your on the way to a better you!!

in dire need of a soda!

Stupid auto correct. I meant carbonation***

in dire need of a soda!

My Dr told me coronation will not stretch your pouch. And that it may cause pressure but its bc of the coronation and you'll just feel like burping a lot. He said if you drink pop, drink diet. He said people think its bad but diet really isn't.
  19. Campka3 I probably stayed on liquids for a week and then pured for a week and then mushy foods for another week.

    Eating

I am 3 months post op and I have days when I cant eat a thing! And there are days I feel like I can eat more then I should. I think you'll have your good days and bad. Make sure you get your protein and water. Along with your vitamins. I admit I don't get a lot of water bc I am busy but I do try and meet the protein requirement or at least get half.
  21. It's a struggle some days but you have to remember you didn't get over weight over night, so the weight can't come off over night!! Have faith and we can all do it!!

    Alcohol?

I am 3 months out and this month I went out a few times and got the drink, sex on the beach which has vodka orange juice pineapple juice and I think cranberry and after half of the drink my lower abdomen started having sharp pains. And then I went out a week or so later got the same drink and it happened again! I was worried and thought maybe it was the mix of sugars in the orange and pineapple juice. I switched my drink and the pain went away. I told my doctor and he said at 3 months its ok to have alcohol and that it most likely was the mix of sugars. I was relieved.

    Need Encouragement..

I know it seems like you've failed at so many diets and exercises that how can this possibly work?? Well it will. This is different. We all took a huge step to help ourselves become healthier. You can do it just like the rest of us. You will see that your stomach is not the same! Eat slow, chew and take breaks between bites. I've learned that that's what works best for me. Flow your protein and water intake. Also take your vitamins and you will do fine. I'm almost 3 months out and have lost 46lbs. You have to believe in yourself. This lifestyle and your new tummy will start to become natural to you.
