    Good study on leaks

Interesting study. For my leak a stent was discussed but the hospital is not big on them due to the number that migrate. They have been working on the claw system for late leaks and have had great success, though failures are, like with any treatment, possibly catastrophic. Thanks for sharing that.

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

Thank you my dear. I hope that you go in and find that nothing is wrong but reading your story concerns me as I said and did much of what you said here. Those extra days made it harder to repair my leak and while I was damn lucky that the experimental procedure worked, well I was damn lucky. Every moment is important when it comes to tissue damage. My doc also dismissed my worries too much and that lead me down a dark and dangerous path. I don't want you there! When your heart becomes involved, as it has given your statements, well you just have to get things done. Don't forget a BARIUM SWALLOW! I make that in all caps so you get that memorized. A straight CAT scan or Xray will not definitively rule out a leak. I had lots of those during my early er visits. But the swallow test is definitive, and frankly it's an easy test for you to take. You drink some horrible bitter liquid (like biting into an orange peel and then they watch it flow. A good tech will tell you whats happening so you can watch too. You'll know right away and if you do have a leak it can be taken care of right away, verses waiting for the tissue to deteriorate further. If you don't have a leak, you still have the heart rate issue and they can do an ekg (or is it eeg...I always screw that up) and see why yours is an issue. Your doc likely couldn't do a swallow test at the office anyhoo so they'd send you in. You're just doing it sooner. Please let us know what you find out. I'm keeping you in my thoughts!

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

monday is a holiday hun. if they arent open go to an er if your symptoms havent changed. personally id like to drive you there now. leaks kill quickly, especially if they have been festering. a few days can mean the loss of vital organs they have to have an emergency number. they can order the barium swallow at your local hospital over the phone. delay is not your friend when sepsis is involved.

    Cup of wine ?

I was told two months after my last surgery. Both my doc and nut drink wine and they said it was fine as long as I understood how it would hit me (some people get drunk easier so you want to learn that at home...I don't have that problem) and more importantly, I have to account for it in my daily goals. I have wine regularly and always make sure it fits within my calorie and carb goals. I also don't drink fortified wines nor those sugary cheap ones (like coolers). Stay away from white zin...cuz it's gross and because it's cheap and often has added sugars. A decent glass of a white or red will have about 3 to 5 carbs in a 4oz glass. No carbonation (sparkling) wine until your doc clears you for that! And of course your doc might feel different than mine does, but that's my scoop...and 3cents

  8. LMAO YOU ARE RIGHT! THANK YOU! (I'd embroider it on a pillow if you were near by...though your significant other might one day smother you with it....and that might make me feel bad LOL)

    Welcome

Perhaps...but on the good side, at least we won't take your nutella
  10. I was a bit behind you when I felt that way but it did hit me as well. It was harder when I was trying to get in five meals a day (per docs orders). I felt like my life revolved around getting in my meals or my fluids and I didn't have time to concentrate on anything else. It was frustrating. My doc finally agreed to let me go to four meals a day and that helped. I wasn't trying to cram so much into my day and felt a bit more in control. Maybe that would help?

    Welcome

You know...I have to say I don't understand the draw for nutella either. That's probably a good thing (I also don't really find peanut butter tempting).

    Welcome

Oh Cheri, I'm sorry! That's not much help, but I'm sorry anyhoo. It's hard enough to be pregnant, harder still when the sweet little fuss budget won't let you eat! Do you think maybe your surgeon implanted the baby as a maintenance measure while you weren't looking? .

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

Btw...I also didn't throw up until damn near the end. It's not a standard symptom of a leak. But the weakness and general illness definitely is.

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

The rapid heartbeat thing is concerning and has nothing to do with food textures. Personally...I didn't push hard enough for a barium swallow (leak test of choice). Given how long this has gone on, and the weakness (which I had in spades) I would call back and not ask, but insist on one. It's an inexpensive and easy test to rule out a major problem. My leak was small...so it took a while to really damage me. But mine was there from the start. You started to experience symptoms in the highest risk window as well so it really should be ruled out.
  15. i always thought it was the opposite anyhoo...op....gad you are looking great!!!! nice work!

    Valentines Day Challenge!

I had my biggest week in a long time LOL 1.7 (normally I'm less than half a pound a week if that!) I expect I'll have trouble next week cuz I'll be in Hollywood (woo hoo) and getting in all my water and protein will be a challenge. But posting numbers does keep my eye on the prize!
