  1. Susan, I like many people here and in the real world, like to smile on occasion. I also speak to people in the real world and rarely does an adult conversation not go off topic because a thinking human is a dynamic being . Smile OP . It will make your journey so much easier! And for the record...I found the chicken to be so full of excess fat that I could only eat a couple bites at several months past surgery. Which made me smile (cuz I do that a lot) as I tossed the thing. Keep a Protein drink in your purse. So much better for you!
  2. I like carnival rides and cotton candy. Do you color your hair? It's lovely.
  3. Testing.... OK Wait fixed it LOL Sorry folks!
  4. I SHOULD HAVE ADDED THAT I TOTALLY GET WHY PEOPLE GO TO MX AND HAVE NO ISSUES WITH THAT, BUT THE REALITY OF THE SITUATION IS THAT REPORTING REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT WHAT THEY ARE IN OTHER COUNTRIES (SOME ARE WORSE AND SOME ARE BETTER). SO THAT DATA IS JUST NOT VIABLE. IT'S LITERALLY WHATEVER THE DOC WANTS TO SAY! I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T BELIEVE A DOC WHO SAID THEY HAD A 100% COMPLICATION FREE RECORD BECAUSE THERE ARE COMPLICATIONS THAT ARE NATURAL AND OUT OF THEIR CONTROL THAT JUST HAVE TO HAPPEN EVENTUALLY. THAT WOULD BE A DOC I WOULD AVOID FRANKLY BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE LYING AND IN THAT CASE YOU DON'T KNOW IF THEY'RE LYING A LITTLE OR A LOT! BTW...MY KEYPAD SEEMS TO BE BROKEN AND I CAN'T GET THE DANGED CAPS OFF! I'M TRAVELING SO I'LL FIX AT HOME, BUT I WANTED TO LET YA KNOW I WASN'T "SHOUTING" VIA CAPS LOL
  5. The reporting guidelines in Mexico are nil. Word of mouth is reliable. Physicians stats...not so much.

    Welcome

Gad Cheri I so agree. If they want an ask a vet forum put one in but here...I don't give a rats patottie if a new person reads these threads and does not understand them or is offended..even afraid to post. Post elsewhere about your booze and burgers. I don't want to hear it nor do I even want to see the names of the rabble rousers! Now...I've been in a stall for five mins...someone tell me how to break it please? .

    Drinking... Alcohol anyway...

The fact that you can't celebrate your 30th birthday without booze says more than anything else about you. You might want to get a handle on that before you hit 40 or you're gonna be a mess.

    Cost sanity check

My complications were half a million dollars. Do you really think keeping your eyes shut will help you pay those bills if you have to? Check with your insurance company and learn the rules! If you have no coverage than you can supplement. If you have coverage with rules (ie must go through ER for care) than knowing those rules could save you thousands! Not checking in advance is kind of like heading far a brick wall at full speed. Ya maybe the brakes will save you....but what if they don't? Be smart in advance.

    Popcorn?

I was told three months for popcorn and nuts. The problem with popcorn is those little bits that get stuck in your teeth can get stuck in your healing stomach and cause infection or leaking if it's really early on. Nuts can do the same and you can't chew them enough. I have had popcorn and I am not able to eat much more than a cup so you don't necessarily have to think that pop corn is going to be your downfall, unless it was a problem earlier. I could never finish a small and don't crave the stuff so for me it's no biggie. Your milage may vary but make it vary after three months

    Nightmare...

    How is she doing?
  14. Why are you having this? Are you dealing with a leak and need the supliment? I had the NJ tube for three days. I did not tolerate it well. It scratched my throat up something horrible after gagging for 72 hours (I spit up this horrific acidic bile constantly...ughhhhh it was bad). I forced them to remove it and give me TPN instead. I know that can be an issue for some, but it was better for me than the NJ. How long do they plan on leaving it? It's best not to have any tube in your nasal area over five weeks as it can cause permanent damage....
  15. You tell them and likely they will want you to have a pad verses a tampon. If something happens and you aren't able to deal with the tampon, someone else would need to. This also alleviates a pre surgery blood test which a lot of them do for possible pregnancy.

Do you drink with your food?

My doctor says up to four ounces is fine with a meal. It is an old bypass thing that isn't as applicable with the sleeve, but it's often advised because people typcially drink far too much with a meal. It's no different than having Soup. I don't drink with every meal, but with dinner I have a glass of wine. I don't drink 15 to 30 mins prior because when I am drinking fluids for fluids sake I'm drinking larger amounts, but on occasion while cooking I have a bit of wine as well. My doc is fine with this.

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

I didn't so much feel I had a fever as knew I did because I checked it. I was warned to do that daily for the first few weeks by someone here actually. The diarrhea can be a symptom of "liquid in, liquid out" so it's not a guarantee either. It's just a possibility in leak scenario's. There are many symptoms to a leak and it's unusual for one person to have all of them. So you just have to consider if you have one or two that perhaps you should rule out a leak to ensure proper care. A good doctor...a conservative doctor, will do so immediately because it's a fairly harmless test, inexpensive, and easy on the patient with a huge reward if the leak is caught early.

Throwing up 6 weeks post-op Anyone else?

Some do, some don't. So you can't dismiss the possibility if you don't have them. For me I had extreme weakness. Racing heart. Left shoulder pain. Oh and a low grade fever (around 99) But I didn't have vomiting or diarrhea.
