I am 4.5 years out and my BMI is under 25...... i dont meet too many ppl with wt loss surgery keep the wt off long term.

i have broken my leg 2 times since WLS so its been hard to maintain. I was 37% muscle mass before my recent broken leg. but proud to say I am 29% muscle mass today :)

keep up the great work sweetie!

  2. i am almost 5ft 4, i am currently wearing size 4 some 2's my wt is 147lbs. but when i lost down to 130-135 and stopped exercising I still wear the same size. except i have **** load of muscle now and my thighs and butt and boobs got bigger, no fat gain. but this is how i was when i was in my 20s a hard body. my profile pic was taken last saturday

  3. I haven't really gained weight other than the up and down of about 3lbs, my problem is over the last four months I have only lost 5lbs. I am 8 months in and feeling very discouraged. I have not been exercising so I am at fault and the food choices are not that great. I need to hit the reset button, I don't take time for me my days are so hectic and I do not let my self be selfish in a way of taking time to prepare my food, workout, and take set aside the money for Vitamins. Any suggestions are welcome, don't be mean or rude I don't need that kind of response just some support and suggestions would be great.

if wt loss is important to you then u need to start making time for yourself and your needs. other ppl dont understand your needs (now). just get your book back out and start following the food plan. you need your B12 and a multi vit and a B50-B100, get you Protein Powder, and eat meat like chicken and steak the real stuff fills u up quick so u can eat other not so good stuff. rid the house of junk foods. carry high protein/low carb bars with you, carry nuts stuff like that for when u need to eat but aren't home. start walking, or riding a bike, don't go out and kill yourself, do something you enjoy and work your way up to a good pace and distance. if you doing like going to a gym starting a gym will be a waste of money, i like to cycle and walking. and i love riding my motorcycle. i'm at dr goal wt, ( size 4) i am feeling great and i eat great food, and exercise regularly. if its want you want you can do it :D

  4. Well nice to know im going on my two yr anniversary in a few weeks n still cant control my sugar levels are too tooo low at night especially I reached my goal in 9 months im not on meds but eat sweets alot to help me cope with sugar levels any advice please

i would suggest stop eating sugar/ carbs..... the sugar/carbs make your blood sugar rise and fall fast, if you eat high Protein and a good source of carb like veggies, oats/or grains, you BS won't rise as much or fall as fast and the protein will hold the bs for longer, my bs is between 80-100 most of the time

  5. i noticed the b100 complex gave me nausea, i stopped taking it and nausea stopped, i have started metformin 850 2x day about 6 mo ago and it was for ovary cysts, i notice if i just take it once a day i feel better, but i have been feeling nausea more in the last 3 months that i did the first year after surgery, i did some reading after i was in hospital for heart attack like symptoms and light headiness nausea, chest feeling like u been running when u jsut sitting, are all heart attack related things that lead up to heart attack. so for me it explains alot, i got nausea with or without metformin

  6. are you checking you blood sugar before u take your meds? after a few days of low calories u might not need as much meds, u can talk to dr about that.

your having the surgery because of your mortality so having a high a1c wouldn't affect having the surgery, now if your EKG came back with issues then u would have a problem.. everyone is put on a 2 week pre op diet. wiht the sleeve you wont fell hunger after the operation. i am 15 months out and still dont feel hunger, i feel dizzy light headed fading feeleing, thats when my blood sugar is low

  7. so you now have to eat more to keep your sugar up? Wow!

Have lower blood sugars keeps the weight off!

How do you feel in general?

low blood sugar doesn't keep the wt off or make u thin. my lowest wt was 130 lbs, i am about 140lbs now, 130 was to low for me, at 130 i felt sick, weak, and tired, now at 140lbs i ride my mountain bike at least 30 min a day,at about 14 mph, and i am active, i don't take naps all the time like i used to,, i'm not sick as much now, i feel healthy. i have to stay on top of the blood sugar because it makes me feel bad. even thou i am a healthy wt i am active, i have a mostly hard body from cycling now, i have damage from being diabetic ( since 1998) i have neuropathy, my blood pressure gets real low, my pulse races sometimes, i was in hospital with what felt like a heart attack, my pcp has recommended a angiogram. he thinks that my chest pain is sign of a heart attack to come. now like i said the damage has been done from being diabetic, i also had high cholesterol since i was 20 yrs old, my father died at 40 from heart attack and diabetes, i believe my VSG will extend my life and i will have a better life now than if i stayed fat. and i look great in size 4 pants after they shrink

  8. We have to make changes, I dont have bad foods in my house. If I have a craving, I love ice cream, I go to yogurt place n get a child size eith nuts on the side.

Some thing I did was watch the clock for eating time. If I felt down cause I cant eat much I tell myself I get to eat every 2 hrs. So sticking to my 2 to 3 oz in the beging made it easier for me

I no longer feel deprived and I feel more satisfied with healthy food choices

Finding what works for you is half the battle

    Good luck

  9. Omg you ladies crak me up. As I was looking over this thread, this person spoidbrat makes one coment then sits back and laughs at the festhers she ruffled and waves she made. I think this was a pratical joke thread. Just think about it. After jusy 30 lbs lost there is no sag. Heck I have lost 80lbs and have almost no sag or flab. But you lsfies did give me a good laugh

    Have a wonderful day

  10. I am almost three months post sleeve and cannot stop eating too fast. Is it just a matter of self discipline?? I have always been a fast eater and can't shake the 'habit'. I am so happy to finally have 'real food'' date=' that I just gobble it down. The result, of course, is that I throw up almost every single day. Any tips or tricks out there??[/quote']

I am 15 months out, im past goal. I could never eat as slow as dr and nut said to. I fill , my baby bowl with 3 to 4 oz of food and its gone with in 5 min. Then reove myself from the food. When at resyurants o would give my plate to my bf or hand to the server. Its only ehen I ate over 3 to 4 oz that I vomit and I only vomitef 2 times.

For me using 3 to 4 oz bowls helps , me to stay within , my portion.

But now since I am over a yr out I neen grtyong nausea, but have found out its from low blood pressure, which is caused from nerve damage because I was diabetic.

Life is so good now, I suffer from low blood sugar and low blood pressure and feel sick all the time, and I cant eat enouhh calories for my active life style bit I look great in size 2, 4 pants

  11. Can a person get kidney stones due to having to much Protein? I have pain in my Right lower back side. It comes and goes. I do suffers from sciatica, but have not have not had an episode for 2 years. Also, i drink about 100 gm of Protein and eat right. I only drink about 4 cups of Water a day. Help!!

to much protein, salt, Calcium can cause kidney stones, but being dehydrated is one the the biggest causes of kidney stones, it causes uric asid . u need at least 8 8oz glasses Water a day.. i had kidney stones before my sleeve, 1 still hasnt passed, but i have not gotten any new stones since my sleeve. i do not take a calcuim pill, i take a really good multi vit. and only once a day. im a female, so i get about 60-80 grams of protien a day

also i do get pain in the same spot were the stone is the pain comes and goes, dr said nothing can be done until the stone leaves my kidney

  12. i would get a little frustrated if i went up a bit since i reached the dr goal and then mine, but i started using the body composition scale at the NUT office and it tells you what u wt with out fat, how much Water wt u have and your total wt, also it give you your body fat %, even though my total wt went up i noticed that my fat % went down, and sometimes it was due to extra water wt. also i changed my exercise to cycling and have gained lot of muscle, so even though the scale went up 5 lbs, my body fat has went down, and another good thing about the body comp scale is, it give you a better PERSONAL idea of what is a good wt for you.. for me being 5 ft in ideal wt is from 120-136 lbs, but my body wt with out fat is 119 no way in hell i can weigh 120 and be healthy. I now have 22% body fat, and wear a size 2 jeans. shopping has never been so much fun!

  13. I was sleeved feb 21, 2012, i ahve lost all the fat, and i am a size 2 now. my motorcycle riding gear it way to big for me now. OMG i look like im swimming in it, my gloves and boots and helmet are the only things the fit now. I would love to get a fitted leather riding suit, omg that would be so sexy :) the guys already drul now. LOL

i still love riding, I am riding on and off road, but what i have noticed, since i lost all the wt. my motorcycles feel so much heavier now. and i tire out faster. and i have to eat every 2 hrs or my blood sugar gets dangerously low. now i joke that i eat way more food now than i did when i was fat. im alwasy carring food wiht me now. and i feel like i am alwasy stuffing my face. and i ahve to eat ice cream in order to get enough caleries in or i keep loosing wt. i can already fit into little girls jeans, so loosing more wt isnt an option for me

  14. Hi I has my sleeve 2-21-12 at 6 months I was at dr goal. 9 months I was past my goal. I have my gallbladder out this Thursday it dosnt work. I love shopping. Every thing fits good or too big. I went from size 18 to. 0-2. It feels good to be called tiny. But hard to believe. I have a new wonderful boyfriend. The wt loss gave me the courage to get out of an abusive relationship

  15. Today I had my fourth major attack. From everything I've read, it's gotta be gallstones. Two weeks ago, I called every GI doctor in my area and next Wednesday, the 15th, is the earliest anyone can see me. But that seems like an eternity with these attacks. I've vowed to go to the ER, a much bigger/prestigious ER mind you, if it happens again tonight. This is the pits :(

hello, did you get answers to your pain? im 9 mo out and at 6 mo dr did a sonogram and i didnt have gallstones, at my 9 mo visit just about a week ago, she said she wanted me to get a hyda scan, she said that your gallbladder han ahve 2 issues, 1. u can get gall stones. and when u pass a stone very painfull, 2. the gallbladder can malfunction. so the hyda scan is a dye test sonogram, that looks at the actual function and they make the gallbladder function and they can watch it. i wake up in the night, by upper belly gets hard , bloated, and hurts, i cant sleep, can last for hrs, then very bad painfull gas, i also get pain in my liver.

i will get the hyda scan dec 31. i hope my issue will get resoved, my vsg dr would remove it
