  1. Hey everyone, so I am scheduled to be sleeved on August 2nd. Doing research, I just read about the sleeve plication which sounds like it's less risk and slightly more successful than the gastric sleeve. Anyone else wondering if a plication is better? I don't even think my surgeon does them, and I hate to start the process over again. I wish I had heard about ths procedure sooner.

  2. I too have my gallbladder out and have what is called 'sphincter of odi disorder' essentially the bile duct clogs ....sounds similar to the pain you are experencing. Did you eat something in higher fat or calories recently? If I eat like crap for a few days, I can almost guarantee that I will suffer a little of the same pain. good luck, and please keep us posted. Scary when you are away from home to suffer that.

  3. SweetSusie' date=' went out with hubs tonight to the local pizza shop for my "last meal", they make awesome club sandwiches so that and a salad was my meal of choice. I am going liquids starting tomorrow. I am going to miss salad, I hear it is awhile before we can eat that again.

I do not know how you stand on your feet all day at work so soon after this surgery. Kudos to you! My husband and I own our own internet based business and I plan to take two full weeks off, unless I heal really quickly. I can sit at my desk and print shipping labels but packing the boxes and lifting guitars that are boxed, may not be on my job list for awhile. I plan on being really careful after surgery. We have three young men that can help me out and I am going to use their muscles.

I am glad to hear that you are doing so well with your weight loss. I am really looking forward to that myself.

You be careful at work and don't let yourself get exhausted. Keep up with your hydration and Protein intake.

I think we have the same surgery date-August 2nd!!

  4. Ok so I am 23 years old 260 lbs 5'8. I was going to get the lapband but after talking to my surgeon decided the sleeve was best for me :). I have done all my requirements this far. Bcbs required a psych eval' date=' a nutrition consult, and a physician consult. They submitted my papers Friday!!!! How long did it take for y'all to be approved? Then how long for surgery? Any other requirements? My doctor mentioned a GI study before surgery to see if I had a hiatal hernia. Thanks in advance!![/quote']

    Hey Tashashantel,

I have BCBS Federal. I got my approval in 9 business days. If you call they will give you an estimate on how long the authorization will take.

    Good luck!

  5. Hey everyone, I thought people in the group could share where they are in the WLS process and any prayer requests they may have!

My name is Melanie, I just received insurance approval last week and am anxiously awaiting to hear the date of my surgery.

I am just praying for peace of mind leading up to my surgery. My greatest fear is that I will leave my one year old son without a mother....

But I try to just stay positive and focused on how much better our life can be once I am healthier in mind, body, and soul!

    God bless!

  6. Oh i'm very sorry to hear this! Hopefully, with the COBRA you can just go as planned! As others said, with no lapse in coverage, you shouldn't have to repeat anything. Good luck and keep us posted!

  7. Thank you for your posts! The majority of my anxiety comes from the fact that I've had some major health scares/complications in the last few years. Super long story, but basically I had a complicated pregnancy (blood pressure issues, gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia post delivery) followed by a gallbladder surgery 4 months later (surgery itself went okay, but had to have several endoscopic procedures from lingering pain-diagnosed with sphincter of odi disorder) Moral of the story is I feel like i'm cursed with medical procedures, and I don't want a leak or worse! But you are right, I need to stay focused and positive. I want to better my life for myself as well as my family! One day at a time.......

  8. Hey everyone, so I got my insurance approval last week and am waiting to hear when my surgery will be. I literally just spent the majority of the day on this site, reading posts and information. I went from being excited, to anxious, to dreading, and back again. Can anyone offer any words of advice to get someone through the first couple of weeks? I know there is going to be a lot that I have to deal with (learning new ways of thinking and eating and coping and life!) I need to just take a step back and deal with it one step at a time. What did people find useful in the beginning?
