  1. I started TOM last week right before surgery. luckily stopped over weekend. now i'm having spotting but no other symptoms.

I took some medicine yesterday to counter-act the heavy antibiotics that would cause a yeast infection.

Could i have a bladder or other infection caused by the antibiotics? Never had one before and not sure what to do.

  2. SOOO...i been on my liquid diet since last wednesday and i have noticed i been sheding some

weight...just today i started feeling worn out and really hungry, tired, bad mood and just realized

i started spotting...mother nature decided to visit at the WRONG TIME...i will be having my surgery

next wednesday aug 15th and im a lil worried. HOW AM I GOING TO HAVE SURGERY NAKED

IF im on my rag?? I havent had my period in a month and a half so im sure its gonna be a lil heavy

by then...so how does that work during surgery...ahhh how embarrasing...just what i was worried

about... HAVE any of my sleeve ladies had this issue during surgery??

exact same thing happened to me. started TOM 4 days before surgery. havent had TOM in months. Grrrr. wasnt bad. pain meds actually helped with cramping. i told nurse and she indicated it was okay if i had a tampax during procedure. I hope it goes lighter for by the time you reach the table and good luck. You're not alone and they are use to it. :)

  3. I am I weighed in at a 37 but am now a 35...I am currently concerned about getting approved. Anyone have any advice? My insurance requires 2 preexisting conditions I have high cholesterol documented by my doctor but its not high enough for medicine.

This is the same problem i had. plus i had to take 6 months of weight loss (weight watchers, etc) with results. if i had results i was below the bmi they wanted (35). I ended up self-paying in Mexico. I didn't want my health to get worse or jump through 8 months of insurance hoops just to be denied.

    Good luck.

  4. Shape Shifter

Are you home now? Thanks for the info I will add the wound type band aids to my list . I am getting in ( flying in ) the afternoon before my surgery so that will be a little different for me but I imagine I will hit the operating pretty early the next morning . You already lost 10 pounds was this during your pre -op diet ? I start mine on Saturday and am determined to be good and faithful to the cause :)

My first day home. I only did 4 days of liquid before so I was back to 215 pre-surgery. The IV really made me swell though. I was surprised at my face in the hotel mirror days later. Didn't realize until I went to put on makeup and my eyelids were so swollen i had creases. looked like i had been crying for days. The 10 pounds is from last friday to today. Which I'm sure is actually more because i put on a lot with the surgery and had to loose that too.

If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

    Good luck.

  5. I wish you ladies all the best. I haven't regretted it yet.

Homesick/isolation was my biggest issue (which was really unexpected).

Ttry to get hospital room on right side of hallway as the left side has a walkway right next to it so i didn't feel comfortable opening blinds. If unsure just open the blinds (lol) be prepared to be operated on within hours. my flight arrived at approx. 11am and i was in surgery by 2pm.

Take 2x3 bandaids with the sticky all the way around. makes it much easier once you are on your own showering and putting bandages back on. They don't sell these in Mexico.

if you have any questions you can message me and i'll do my best to answer.

  6. Ok, I'm trying not to be concerned because Dr. Kelly didn't seem to be but Id like to make sure. I have a large purple "bruise" on my stomach. It does not hurt. Dr. Kelly said something about bleeding and cautizing (spelling?). Didn't seem concerned. However when his wife saw it as i was putting a bandage on she seemed a bit surpriced.

Now I'm concerned. Anybody else experience this? I just want to know this can be normal.

Other than that I feel fine except that I can't stand the smell of food - like when you have the flu or especially like morning sickness - all day.

  7. Protein will give you HARD stools........I mean HARD..... start taking a tspn of Milk of Magniusm..... if not look out for a VERY PAINFUL Bowel MOVEMENT................ you will be able to nail a board with your stool if you do not take the warning...............I tried the Miralax.............and it helped me NONE......... after surgery I had to endure the "self enama's" which some days I had to do 3 at a time......... prevent yourself the MISERY..take Milk of Magnesium.....and keep it up... to at least once or twice a week....... until you are NORMAL..............

good to know. right now i cant do anything except drink. the smell of broth makes me sick so i'm going to get unflavored Protein to mix in my drinks. i'll be sure to get some Milk of M as well.

  8. thank you. im thinking its stress and heat combo. Omar took me around TJ this afternoon, met with Dr. to see a house he was considering buying. Think i hurt Omars feelings because i didn't want to go shopping or dinner. just wanted a hot, dark shower. its not bad now but i see the destination.

going to see a chiropractor when i get home. this headache is mostly in the back of my head. i think it may be stress related because i catch myself clencing my jaw.

  9. i feel for you. hubby went through it years ago. i only had to quit diet coke. he found that getting rid of things that would trigger the smoking response helped. his favorite chair after work to watch the news and smoke a cigarette. Threw it away. Avoided parties/drinking situations for a while because beer and a cigarette went hand-in-hand. Instead of smoking after "ahem-relations" a shower and cold glass of tea and maybe more fun. lol.

when he quit years ago you could still smoke indoors in Maryland. Hopefully you won't have that added reminder to overcome. He went from3 packs a day to zero cold turkey, no RX. You can do it. Think of the bigger (or smaller) picture.

  10. I am in TJ now. One thing that surprised me was the suitcase carry on size limited one carryon and one personal item....yeah right. i saw families with 4-6 items. which just meant the people that got on the plan afterwards, if there wasn't enough room, had to stow their baggage afterall.

my little suitcase on wheels fit the dimensions required but there were much, much bigger bags being brought onboard.

Also, I packed an outfit for each day but in the hospital (Kelly) you are required to wear their gowns (you can get an extra to use as a robe. so i could have saved two outfits.

in Dr. Kellys case you can ask for a fan. When i first arrived the hospital was typically chilly but when i woke up i found i was hot the rest of the time. Omar was a life-saver with a fan.

If you can bring someone, do. it was alot more isolating than i thought. there were no other sleevers with me. Nurses spoke limited english but they also had work to do so even if they spoke perfect english i don't think it would have mattered. I was more lonely than anticipated and I typicaly enjoy my time alone. None of my contact methods (skype, etc) was working correctly. This is the one thing i would have DEFINATELY changed.

If you are a crystal lite user bring it. wish i had. don't particularly like gatorade or Vitamin Water so it's making it harder to get liquids down.

GasX-i never had any real gas pain and maybe its because i ate these strips like pez. don't care for their flavor as it makes me queasy (mint flavor) but i will take queasy over pain anyday.

  11. Shape Shifter, are you at the hotel now? Are you finding that less isolating than the bummer side of the hospital? I am grateful my husband will travel with me, but when you get home you will be an official bad a$$ having made this journey on your own

lol dont feel like a bad a$$. looking forward to seeing my family. this great broth everyone raves about was not for me. good luck. hotel is gorgeous but have no energy to explore right now. just tired. can't eat anything but really dont want to.

  12. since i woke up to catch my flight out here Friday at 3 am I've had a headache. it's come and gone but mostly there. pain meds dont seem to be helping. i didn't have gas pains but sick to my stomache vomiting.i am now at the hotel and the mere smell of food makes me sick. I've taken the pain meds and the stomach meds and still no relief. this is now turning into a migrane.Omar said if medicine didn't kick in soon he would "take me to get something else" but the thought of going out into sunlight with this headache....i cant go there.never had gatorade before...cant stomache it. the broth everbody raves about...the smell makes me ill. I'm sipping Water but i think i need something more...i just dont know what to do.Suggestions?

  13. yes, it was just the one bank that i had a problem with. it just wasn't printing correctly-it should have done thewhole name with no problem. I ended up having to take cash for the $1500 because my banks were closed by the time i discovered he problem. that i did not like. especialy since i had to leave it in my hsopital room when i went for xrays, etc. until Omar arrived.

the only thing i didn't like about my hospital room #12 is you can't open the shades because its right where men pass by working for the hospital. if i had gotten the other side of the hallway i would have felt less confined and able to see sunlight. it's not a hospital like you find in the states but it reminded me of hte hospitals i grew up with (mother was a nurse) back in the 60s and 70s.

very friendly, some spoke clear english, others no so much. if i had it to do over again i would have brought someone. it was more isolation than anything. foreign language, foreign tv, cant see outside, can't talk to family....very, very isolating experience. the only time i got upset was when i repeatedly tried to reach family through cell (expensive but needed contact) or skype (when it chose to work, limited) and i couldn't reach anybody.

  14. Omar asked for two checks both payable to Dr. Kelly.

The first check I pulled from one bank and the second from another. However, my second bank was having an issue and couldn't fit his whole name in the payable to line so I put in Dr. Jaime Kelly. Mistake.

Make sure you put in the full name no matter what. Very long story and all is well now but it would have been a major problem had i gotten to TJ.

PAYABLE TO: Dr. Jaime Ricardo Ramos Kelly.< /span>
