    Biotin Capsules

Does anyone know if there is a biotin capsule on the market? A google search shows plenty with that description, but they seem to actually be softgels. I'm still a few weeks away from being cleared for pills, but I'd like to start on the biotin now.

    High Energy Foods?

You probably are, but make sure you're getting enough Protein. Also, insufficient sleep will leave you tired all the time. Proper sleep also helps with weight loss. On a side note, my hat's off to you as a teacher. You guys are so overworked and underpaid!

    Sleep Apnea...question

I'm glad I've already lost enough weight that my apnea has resolved. I didn't have any problem with the machine itself, but could not get a mask to not leak at my eyes without leaving a red mark on my nose. Had a few good nights, so I know it does work.

    Sleep Apnea...question

Not to pick an argument, but it is actually the deeper stages of sleep that are the most restorative. REM sleep is important, but most people with apnea may skip REM sleep altogether their first few nights on cpap as their body plays catch-up. This was explained to me during my sleep studies. http://www.sleepfoundation.org/article/how-sleep-works/what-happens-when-you-sleep

    Sleep Apnea...question

It's all in how you define "sleep." If you're not reaching deep sleep because of the apnea, you're not really sleeping. 5-6 hours of quality sleep beats 8 hours of apnea-interrupted "rest" hands down.

20% Regain Weight After 2 Years

Very true. As has been quoted here before, they sleeve our stomachs, not our heads.

20% Regain Weight After 2 Years

Did he offer a breakdown on weight regain vs procedure type? I know several people who've had RNY and regained at least a sizable portion of the weight, even if not all of it. Even still, those statistics you cite compare favorably to what I've heard, which is that 95% or so of those who lose weight on their own regain it. I think the retention of the stomach in RNY and its associated production of the ghrelin hormone contribute to weight regain.

    Any Low Bmi's Out There?

My BMI was 42 in February, 35.4 on surgery day (two weeks ago today), and recovery has been excellent as far as I'm concerned. Went back to work today, felt fine. My incision sites are a little tender to the touch, but healing fine.

    Thinking About Taking Up Running....

I have a sleeved friend who's a runner now. she says she used the ones from Old Navy, but says she's small chested. She recommends getting fitted at Luke's Locker or whatever running store you may have where you live.
  12. Like others have said, just concentrate on getting your liquids and proteins. Your body is still healing and that is what is most important right now. You WILL lose the weight, just be patient.

    Biotin Capsules

Because I'm still on liquids or chewable medicines, and do not wish to cheat. We were told capsules were OK because we could open them up and swallow the contents.

    Was I Sleeved?

I don't know about "super drinker," but I hope to be able to chug water by next summer. I'm not ready to "push" my sleeve yet to find out its capacity, since I'm only two weeks out. I get what I need with only occasional slight discomfort, so I'm not worried.

    Was I Sleeved?

Thinner liquids can pass right through the stomach, as long as you don't force it. I had a second swallow test 8 days post-op (standard procedure for Doc) and he showed me the contrast going past the pyloric valve. Tomato soup is fairly thin. My staple right now on full liquids is the heart-healthy cream of chicken, made with milk, with a scoop of protein powder. It's thick enough I can't do more than 3 ounces or so at a sitting.

    Biotin Capsules

Thank you! So these can be opened up?
  17. GNC also has one, their own brand, in a smaller bag rather than a huge tub. I have one, but it's partly protein concentrate instead of all protein isolate. I've read that isolate is supposed to be better, but I've had no problems with the GNC. I do have some Unjury on order, should be here Wednesday.

    Too Small

LOL! I don't care for guacamole, but you reminded me of my wife. she LOVES the stuff!

    Too Small

Wow, that's exactly how I feel! I've also been big all my life, and have no clue what "normal" will look like on me. But I'm excited to find out!
  20. My sister-in-law is from Guatemala and does WONDERFUL things with black beans, including a very loose refried style. One more week and I get to have some of those! My wife is also planning a pilgrimage to Olive Garden for their soups, which we will blend but won't have to strain, and my mom made me three jars of broccoli cheese soup. I'm well covered for the mushies stage, I think.
  21. My Doc also said aspirin and NSAIDs were no-nos, from the blood-thinning aspect I assume. Bleeding along staple line=BAD. Tylenol is OK AFAIK. The 64 oz will get easier as your swelling subsides. He repaired a hiatal hernia in me as well, so there was some swelling in that area also. I found it helped a LOT to straighten my torso as I swallowed; either stand up or sit up straight. It still does help, but it's not as necessary now.

    One Week Post-Op Recheck...

Good for you! My Doc is more conservative, I still have one more week on full liquids, then mushies for two, then transition to solids. That's OK, I'm patient.

    Nauseous On Pre-Op Diet?

A headache can make you nauseated. If you are historically a heavy caffeine user, you should taper off instead of quitting cold turkey. You definitely should stop though, as you won't get any the day of surgery or the day after, at minimum, and those would be terrible days for a caffeine headache.

    Too Small

I was a little concerned about this a few months ago (well before surgery) but then I realized since it is WAY too easy to "beat" the sleeve with liquid calories, I was NOT going to starve. Not that I WANT to cheat, but it did put my mind at ease.
