Hi Suzjag. Mine hasn't stopped yet either. I just started purée a few days ago, and I am still having major issues. I was told that people can sometimes develope lactose intolerance after surgery. I'm looking into this. Best of luck to you. FYI I'm right there with you.

With th sleeve your digestive system remains intact ( with the exception of losing a good portion of your stomach). Piping all works the same your stomach is just smaller. I liked the fact that nothing was being rerouted.

Has anyone become lactose intolerant after surgery? Please walk me through your struggle? Any tips and tricks? I think this might be my problem, and quite frankly it's got me down :-(

I did this! But I figured out it wasn't the puréed foods. It was any milk based products. I had lactose intolerance after my procedure. So I switched to soy based products and did much better. I wasn't even able to tolerate milk products in general. Now that I am 4 months out' date=' I can tolerate very small amounts of Lactaid and some cheeses. Also, remember puréed foods don't have much Fiber, and fiber can bulk up your stool. Once I personally tried non milk based foods..my diarrhea stopped. Also, it never hurts to talk to your dietitian for advice. That's what she is there for! I hope this helped![/quote']Piplula.. Thanks I am going to try and eliminate milk products and see if that helps.

This is very helpful. Thanks

My insurance required a history but a physical was not required.

I am sorry if this subject has already come up. I tried performing a search and was unsuccessful. I am 16 days post -op. I was advised it was ok to start adding purée on day 14. I find that things are going right through me. My stools are almost all liquid. Has anyone else experienced this? I feel trapped in my home for fear I will need to use the bathroom. I am going to call my doc when they open, but thought you all might have some advice or experience with this. I am continuing to drink Fluid, as I don't want dehydration to become an issue.

I was on lovenox (blood thinner) for 10 days post op and was told not to travel more than 20 minutes in a car. If I would have gotten in a minor accident it could have been fatal.

i dont mean to discourage anyone but if i had to do this again' date=' i absolutely WOULD NOT!!!!! i was the 1 out of 100 that was diagnosed with a leak (at week 5) and i became seriously ill. i didnt eat for over a month and i threw up bile about 2-10x a day! the 2x per day were my great days although i fought nausea non stop but my 10x per day days were the ones where i was convinced i was going to die! the drs threw around the word fatal one too many times to my liking. i had 3 emergency procedures and even made a few er visits. it got to the point where i was seeing my drs atleast 2x a week & calling my surgeons partner crying every single day!!!!im down over 100lbs in less than 8months. i look great & feel great now but at the risk of going through that life changing experience, NEVER![/quote']
OMG I can not believe you went through all that. I am so sorry. Glad ou are doing better.

Oh that is so awesome you have your mom to go through this with. Good luck to you both, and have fun at the renaissance fest :-)

I am 2 weeks post op. I went to a renaissance fair yesterday. I thought it would be difficult being around all of that yummy food, however I just kept thinking "wow those portions are so huge" the ironic thing is before surgery that was a normal size to me. The most difficult thing for me to pass up was the pickles. I had no problem watching people walk by with plates piled high with cheese frys or huge waffle cones with 5 scoops of ice cream. I swear there was a pickle stand around every corner. I also notice when people post recipes like tomatoes cucumbers and balsamic dressing my mouth starts to Water. What is wrong with me? I love it, however I'll love it even more when I'm able to eat those healthy fares :-)

I came out of surgery with No drainage tube :-)

I was told the amount of excess skin also is determined by how long the skin has been stretched from the weight. I am really hoping that since I have only been this heavy for about 2 years it will bounce back.

Congrats on being approved. I found that some family members were supportive and others not so much. What many people don't realize is the daily mental struggle that we go through being heavy. You have to do what Is best for you. Good luck

Wow you look GREAT :-)

I had to quit 1 month prior to surgery. The E.cig helped trmendously. I was more of a hand to mouth addict, hence my weight issue, everyone is different. I think you just really have to set your mind to it. This surgery was a huge motivator. Good luck
