I would love some tips on this as well.

By issues' date=' you mean that you're not seeing anything in Subscribed threads, is this correct? Or are you having other issues?[/quote']
That is correct. I used to be notified when someone commented on a thread I created or a thread that I commented on.

Hi momytothree' date=' I lost my father 6 months ago and I totally hear what you are saying. I have always used food a a cruch. I am currently 8 days post-op and I of course can't turn to food. I have been feeling much better physically, however I just can't find the energy to do the things I wanted to do in my recovery time (I.e organize house etc). I guess it's just going to be a long road.[/quote']Ps I would start tracking your food. I use my fitness pall it's a free app online

Ok' date=' friends I just got the great news that I'm cleared to start eating "real food" again! Yay, yay, yay! *happy dance* But, I have no idea what I want to eat or where to start with. I know I want to ease into eating things just as I have through this whole process, but I'm not sure where to begin, and its a week until I get to see my NUT. I really don't have a craving for anything particular, and I want to hang on to that feeling as I start eating healthy solid food again. But, whats a good first meal?I've been eating cheeses, and egg salad, Peanut Butter and other soft foods for a bit now, so I'm past that place.
Suggestions! And one more time, yay![/quote']
I'm so jealous. I still have 1 more week of liquid and then weeks 2-4 purée ughhh.

Yep I just checked my app center and there is no update for this app appearing, meaning I have the most updated. I'm still having issues

Hahahaha - me too <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> although a friend of mine who was sleeved about 18 months ago told me that she had a nasty comment the other day - her beautician (nasty person anyway) told her to eat something "BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE A CANCER PATIENT"... gee people are mean! She looks amazing - I told her (1) not to go back and (2) to tell her to suck it <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> So I guess we also have to watch out for people who want to put us down for losing weight as well as mock us for being overweight!
Comments like that are said out of jealousy. Geez that is terrible!

Any food that is not 'dense' and is nutritionally void. For instance' date=' I can eat a HUGE (well, in sleeve standards) bowl of potato chips, Cheetos, popcorn, even donuts, but only a very small amount of chicken breast. So slider foods have a VERY HIGH caloric value, which is worse because we can eat more than other foods, and they don't stay in your tummy very long, making you feel full and satisfied like 'real food'. Hence, the name slider....they go down way too easy, and go through the tummy way to easy. And, they're a very large danger to WLS patients because mentally we sometime still want to 'eat' or at least eat in quantity, and we can do that with slider foods, so it appeases the food addict in us. Many doctors/articles say its the number one reason WLS surgeries fail...we can 'eat through' our weight loss surgeries by eating and drinking sliders and gain our weight back. They are very dangerous...I know because I was stuck on them for quite some time and have not lost any weight in 6 months <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> (especially Doritos and potato chips). Ugh.
Don't ever start with them, stay as far away as you can, or you may be like me and figure out, "Hmmmm, I can still eat these like before, and look, I can eat MORE".[/quote']
Oh boy this is good info to have. I'm going to steer clear.

I'm actually getting the sleeve done via single incision in Chicago on August 20th. My doctor offered it to me' date=' and I found out he has actually taught the other surgeon he practices with. I've heard slightly less recovery time and potentially less pain with this, so I'm excited about it.[/quote']Where in Chicago?

Ok I'm definitely checking the man room out more often. This is great. Now I know why I lived with two guys in college as there is never a dull moment.

I think the best part of surgery is not feeling so hungry. I can chose to eat healthy foods because I don't have the same cravings nor desire to shovel food into my mouth. Here is a great blog with recipes. I've tried a few' date=' and I love it! http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/
Awesome site! Thanks!

My husband and I own a 35 foot cabin cruiser on lake Michigan, and I am first mate. I work the ropes jump in and out when docking etc. i am 7 days post op and was wondering if there are any boaters out there, and when you were able to resume your duties after surgery. The open Water is my husbands life and I won't allow him to go out by himself.

My app is not working correctly either. I am unable to see when someone comments on a post anymore.

Wow' date=' your doctor's office was ON it. Mine is like pushing a rope. I used to think it was the insurance companies to blame for the issues, but right now, it's looking like the office staff for the COE where my surgeon is, isn't the best and brightest out there. I started the process with my psych eval on June 10. Appt w/surgeon, dietician and pt 7/12, office took a week to submit paperwork, not remembering I had the psych eval the month prior and thought they were waiting on it when they hadn't requested it from the phych! Now 2 weeks later, (after I received an approval letter in the mail from the insurance company) the dr's office says they haven't received it. UGH....seriously? When was the last time you checked the mail? Now waiting to hear from the scheduling nurse to work on getting the other pre-op requirements scheduled prior to surgery. Insurance says scheduled for 8/31, but can't get info from dr's office.Congrats on your successful procedure! I've never had surgery either, so to hear another newbie have such positive results helps set my mind at ease. As you can tell, I'm right there with you reading everything on here trying to prepare myself.
Thanks for the info!![/quote']
Hi Tiffany, Stay on that dr office of yours. I had to stay on my office as they were saying they didn't get the psych clearance or pulmo clearance. I actually obtained copies and faxed them myself.

Very helpful info! I'm curious as to the reason for the Listerine. They said it was an infection safeguard.

Mine was July 30th I'm 7 days out. Keep up the good work. I only wish I could walk my dogs at this stage, however they are boxers and get side tracked by squirrels.

Good luck. You will do just fine. See you on the other side :-)

I totally forgot about today's meeting. Dd you guys meet? I am feeling much better, and would love to join the next hat together as well.

I'm on the 2 week post -op liquid phase now and will sip from little one oz cups and I get the same pain up in my chest several imes when sipping. I was hoping it would eventually go away, as it can't be the amount I'm eating because it is so little.

I dread my first period post op. my cramps are excruciating, and I've always relied on Advil. I'm hoping they will get better as the pounds melt away. Hang in there.
