  1. Thanks, Guys! I'm pretty excited! I haven't weighed this in over 12 years! Woo hoo! Chris and I treated ourselves to a Jeep Wrangler yesterday. He's always wanted one, and I've always wanted him to have one. And his last Jeep went into my tummy...so! It's not new...the new one's prices make me want ot faint! Heehee! It's been such a team effort between him and me...this is my reward! :smile2:
  2. :huh2::smile2::party:OH YA!:party::tongue2::laugh:
  3. Okay.....here it is.....are you ready???!!!! Today I saw Onederland!!!!!! :huh2::laugh::party::party::party::tongue2::smile2:
  4. Thanks for the list Mal! There is one on there, that, well...I don't think I can manage! heehee! You know... I did have a flu shot with that three day wonder job I had back in October...but they said the flu thats going around is not the strain in the shot this year. And I stopped taking my multivitamin a while ago. I guess its time to get those giant monster chewables out again. (ickkk:scared2:) Gotta try something! And I'm quite sure that its time to chuck my tooth brush...gotta drawer of them from Sams club. I don't know why I don't change it more! Yay for Lap Dancer and Dee, working out! Woo hoo:w00t: And Lap Dancer...hope you have the ick kicked this time. It just sucks to be sick that much! Good night all! Oh ya..what night did we decide on for March? Hubby is making out next month's schedule.:thumbdown:
  5. Good morning, All! Thanks for the advice...I think the gunk in my head is finally starting to loosen up. I bet your right, Dee. Kids are so germy. And you know what? I haven't had the chicken pox yet. And, because of that, my kids haven't been vaccinated either. We plan to all three get vaccinated for them in June (since I finally found a place that would vaccinate an adult!) and the chance of a slight case of them from the vaccine is probable. Remember how I said I always worked in geriatrics? I was sick a lot for my first few years of that too. Then at 23 I had my tonsils out and I became a hand washing freak and stopped getting sick so often. Thanks for noticing my ticker. It's actually lower than that right now, but I know its just because I'm sick. It will go back up... Almost to Onederland....I'll be on here just hooten' when it finally happens! Hi, Cara! Welcome to the board! Yup. If you've read much of this thread, you know us pretty good! If I remember correctly, Dr K has only removed one band...and that was because the person just refused to live the bandster way and she wasn't happy with it...not that there was anything wrong with it. I think. I could be wrong about this. Ask him. He'll tell ya. And I think he's had complications like 5 times. And that would be with leaking ports. I think now he is usuing a different style of band that makes it harder to hit the tubing with a needle, so even that should go down. It was more of a design issue with the older style bands. Sorry I haven't posted more, I miss you guys! This working and being sick crap is really effecting my computer time....rats! It takes almost as much time to get my kids where they need to be as my whole shift is. It's about 2 and a half hours of driving to work a 5 hour shift.(if chris isn't off for the day) EEEEK! Okay...I'm done whining! Have a great day!
  6. OMG, guys! I'm flippen sick again! This is the third time since the first week of January. (and the last flu was 2 weeks for all of us!) So, I spent today (or at least 3 hours of it) in urgent care. The Doc said I have a raging sinus infection. My throat is all swollen and I can barely swallow. Never had that before with a sinus infection. These meds he has given me are huge! I was scared at first, but they seem to be doing okay. Nothing is painful with them as of yet. So, do any of you think that maybe I'm not getting enough vitamins or I'm not eating healthy enough? Or is it purely a fluke that I'm getting sick all the time? Hummmm? Well, good luck to you all! I'm waiting for my hubby to get home with some soup....broccoli cheese...yummy! Hopefully it will go down this throat. That hangy down thingy in the back of my throat (uvula?) is the size of my thumb. I'm supposed to get real hydrated to loosen up my head..but my throat hurts and these meds have already started the runs....rats! Easier said than done! Have a great night all!
  7. Lap Dancer~ just went and looked at your pics...wow! There are three there that I think are class act! One called Glades path, one called Sea Gull (first one) and the first one of a ship in the harbor...wow are those pics amazing! Well, actually, they are all great! The pics of the palm trees sure make me home sick for Phoenix! We had three sky scraper palms in our front yard...they are an amazing tree! I'll dig out pics of them and get them sent to you. And your hubby has a Colorado hat on! How neat is that! I hope that all goes well with the cancer dx...glad you caught it early. My prayers and vibes so go your way! Dee~ hey! How are ya doing? So the PA and the assistant are two differnent people...okay! Well, at least I'm not totally nuts!:cheers2:
  8. Viri~~~yay!!!!!! Your banded!!!!! Congrats!!! I'm so excited for you! Welcome to your new life! Sounds like it went like clockwork! I had it done in Parker too, but I didn't have the rush thing...in fact, I was still there at 5pm and I just sat there chatting with the greatest nurses ever. Sorry you felt rushed. I've had surgeries before where it was rushed like that. The whole, hurry, their awake get them outta here thing. (actually, several surgeries like that cuz i really sleep forever after being put under!) So, you say the asssistance's name for Dr. K. is Doug??? Okay, I've heard, Pat, Tom and now Doug...heehee! I wonder what the poor guys real name is! Isn't the whole office of people really neat? I can't imagine meeting them all right before surgery, but lots of people from out of town do. Are you planning to come out here for after care too? It would be so cool to meet you! Maybe here for a Red Robin night? :cheers2: It's just so neat to make real people out of these posts! (not that anyone thinks we aren't all real people!) ALL I CAN SAY IS, "YAY! WELCOME TO BANDLANIA!" (I like Bandlandia!) Hope all goes well!:ohmy:
  9. Don't worry Amieru! There is a little difference between the "induction" phase of Atkins and what Dr. K wants us to do to shrink our liver. As long as you leave alone the breads, pasta, rice, potatoes and sugar...you'll be fine for surgery. And congrats on your weight loss! You're doing so well! Corn is essentialy a starch, along with peas. And there are a few grams of carbs in carrots, although not huge. Sooo, if you were doing the induction phase of the Atkins diet, you goal of ketosis may be effected. But that's not really what Dr. K wants. 9 more days and you'll be a bandster!!!! Woo hoo!
  10. Yay, Denise! How neat! For some reason I thought dr. k's PA was named Pat....I wonder where I get stuff like that? Ha! :eek: It can be pretty satisfying to have the loss acknowledged! Congrats again!
  11. Artsy~ Even us locals are waiting over a month for a fill! As for the assistant thing...that you have to decide within yourself what is best for you. March 5th or 11th? That's only a week difference. How far are you coming from? Don't be so rough on yourself...it will come! I had no idea with the water swallow either. In fact, I was overfilled just because at the time of the fill, I could swallow fine. It was later that night that it went crazy! So don't beat yourself up on what you are supposed to "feel" with the water...I still have no idea! Good luck, and cheer up! When you get it right, the weight will come off!:biggrin:
  12. Fatboyslim~~~yay for you and your wife! What a great gift of health you have given each other! Now you'll have many more years of love together!:tt2: Congrats! Viri~~~yay! Your time is here! We'll be thinking of you Thursday! Post when your home and feeling better!:mad:
  13. L.A.~ I went there...and it showed the reviews.(which were good, by the way!) But I didn't see where I could add a review. :thumbdown: Is there something else I should have seen or I need to do? I added a review on here once, that I may just copy and paste. (not sure if I will or not) Let me know. His office has really taken good care of me!
  14. Brandy~Don't worry, its only one meal. Today is a new day. And if you analyze what you said...everything was half. It really wasn't that much. But.....if you were able to eat those things, you really need a fill! I don't remember if you said that you had one scheduled~ even if it was a month out. The head eating/hunger thing can really surprise you, even if you are pretty sure you have no "issues" with food. You'll start seeing your triggers and be able to put together a different picture of your weight problems. And like Dee said, "at least you didn't PB in front of your friends!" But WARNING~ those particular foods probably will after you get your fill! :thumbup: It will be a big relief for you when your band helps you with the loss too...not just your will power! You'll start melting away when you get both of them working for you! Hang in there, Girlie! You look maaahhvalous!
  15. Okay...I'm home from work! Here is our Red Robin night out! We are all changing so fast! The first is our newly banded Dee and John. The second is our newbie Brandy and Michelle. The third is Michelle and me, Anita. The last one is the group of us. Do we all just keep getting better and better, or what?!:glare: We missed a few too! Mal, Marylin, Patricia, Lydia...hope your in the pic next month! :eek:
  16. Hey, guys! Dee, John~~~I was chuckling about that snow as I left, BUT......OMG. Just outside of Denver it was really, really coming down. I've never driven in snow that bad. I had to pull over in Castle Rock cuz even at 30 mph all I could see was white. Me, and lots of other people pulled into a Conoco/Loaf&Jug/Blimpy place there just off the first exit?(I think...who could see?) I waited for an hour or so until it let up. I asked a DPS how things looked and he said much improved. But you know here! I got going about another 10 miles or so and here it came again. From Larkspur to the Briargate exit was soooo bad. I just kept going...maybe about 30mph...slower some places.:tongue2: Me and this big line of traffic. I can't remember the last time I prayed so hard! (like right before surgery maybe?) I finally got home though...it was midnight. Some people just stop their car on the freeway without even trying to get over...that was wild! How do those people not just get creamed? Dee! I shoulda just come home with you! How I wished I had! But this storm wasn't even supposed to be, so who knew how much worse it would be? Okay, I'm done whining...(and wimpering!) I had a great time though! Thanks for the company, All! I'll try and get those pictures up after work. I have a house full of sickies. My hubby is going back to the doc today, Wes is home sick and the lil guy is starting to cough too. :wub: Brandy, it was lovely to meet you! You look maaaaahvalous! I hope your able to join us in the future too! Missed a bunch of ya! Hope you are all doing well! Dee, I'm good with the 6th...everyone else okay with the change? Have a great day, All!:drool:
  17. Awwwwwwwwww, Mal! I'll miss you! Hope you feel better! Save a night for next month. I'll try and post pics...but I can't photoshop you thinner....don't know how to do that! We'll be thinking of you!
  18. Brandy~ I'm not sure of the address....but its just west of I-25 and Arapahoe...just barely off the freeway...1/2 mile??? Mal~ are the numbers right for that address?
  19. Howdy, All! I'm still here! Been reading and trying to keep up. This work thing is gonna take some time to adjust to. I'll be seeing ya tonight! Yay! Can't wait! Welcome, liteweight! How long have you been banded now? Was Dr. K. the one to band you? How much have ya lost? Congrats! Are ya local? You could join us tonight! We meet at the Red Robin at I-25 and Arapahoe! We'd love to have you join us! All invited. :regular_smile: Dee! I wonder what you could order tonight too. How have you been feeling? Have you been nausiated at all? (after the day of, of course!) Hummmm....mashed tatoes for Dee! heehee!:tt1: See ya Gals!!! (And token guy, John!:biggrin2:)
  20. Hi! H-pylori is the bacteria that causes gastric ulcers. (stress and foods were once the thought that caused them) I believe, I could be wrong, that you never get rid of it completely. But, I would imagine that the total count would have to be reduced before surgery would be done for gastric bypass, since they completely cut your stomach. Don't worry, lots and lots of us have this bacteria! Glad they are able to go through with your surgery as scheduled!:tt1:
  21. Hey, All! I have about two seconds to get a post on this morning...(and really I should be upstairs getting ready!) I started working yesterday, and after one day, I really like it. Its more like the kitchen I am used to with nice people and team work. And its huge and beautiful and they actually have hand washing sinks and plastic gloves! Yay for sanitation! The hours are short, 9:30-2:30 but that completely works around the kids and gets me outta the house. I hope it continues to go well and they accept me into their pack! DEE! YOU ARE A BANDSTER NOW!!!! WOO HOO BANDITO!:frown: I'm in for the 7th...weather permitting of course! Have a great day!
  22. Mal~ OMG! You poor girl! Men say its their excuse to drink a lot of beer to kill the pain and pass the stone...Are you feeling better yet? I had gallstones once and that's supposed to be pretty mild compared to what you are going through. Feel better soon! LA~ I felt like that too after my surgery. I was off pain meds for about 8 days, doing well, then all of a sudden I had about two days where I used the pain meds, on schedule cuz I could tell they were wearing off. I was upset too that the pain could come back. If it persists very long, you should prolly give the Doc a call... ShelbiCallie~Hey! Good to hear from ya! How are you doing? Is your band treating you right? I hope the strep is done...My son goes back to school today. Yay! And I've actually kept up on all the times he is supposed to get this awful medicine. Even with the flavor added, I just don't see how he gets it down....Yuck! Bahot~ Work it girl! I'm so proud of you for getting on that treadmill! You can do it! I have a personal adversion to exersize...I'm sure I will melt or die or something worse than death if I exercize. Maybe I will get kidney stones if I exercize? DEE!!!!!!! TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!! Are you freaky excited!!!!!!:smile::eek::tongue: Have a great day, All! I haven't started working yet...I think I find out today or tomorrow when my first day is. Background check stuff they said takes several days.
  23. Hey, All! Angie! You look great! I'm going to hop over to the before after thread and take a peek! Woo hoo, congrats! Mal~no I haven't gotten over to Slim and Tone yet...I've really procrastinated this, haven't I? Dynamo~ woo hoo! Congrats on the loss! Taynah~ I feel for you. My 8 year old developed strep yesterday, and he's allergic to so many meds...goodness! It cost me a fortune for his meds! Just hoping the rest of us don't get it. (This is the poor kids second go around this school year for this stuff!) Tied2b~ EEEEEEEEE! It's getting close! I'm so cheering you on! You're doing so well on the pre-op! Yay for you! LA & Missmona~ you two look so cute! So, what did you two think of a fill? Not so bad, is it? Well, the school district (or their food service company, I should say~Sodexho/Marriott) called. So, I guess I have another job. Haha! Yay...the hours are great, the pay so-so, and I'm off everytime the kids are. What else could I ask for? My mom is going to watch my little guy, but he starts school next year, so all will be good. Right now, between chris's schedule and mine, my mom will watch him 2 days a week. I'm going to put him in full day kindergarten, which is 2K for the year, but it will be worth it. So... I filled out all the paperwork yesterday, okayed the FBI background check and went down to the PD to get my fingerprints done.(just like a common criminal!) I'm supposed to hear Monday on what day they want me to start. Woopee! I got some of my appropriately sized clothing. So, now, here is a question. What to do with all the clothes in my closet? I have always needed my "big girl" clothes again with everything I've ever done. I don't think I can just get rid of them. Should I box them for a bit until I feel comfortable with them leaving, or should I "cold turkey" it and just do it now? How are you all handling this? Well, all, have a great day! I need to figure out the 7th and see if my hubby is available. Pretty sure I'll get it worked out! See ya soon...man this thread has been moving fast!:redface:
  24. LA! Yay and congrats! Thanks so much for sharing your pictures! What a cutie! At that point I was crying...and crying...just like a baby! That bloaty feeling lasts for a while. But use some gas x and walk...its great that you did so well and your feeling okay. Don't over do it! Welcome to band land! You did it!:rolleyes2: Mal~ no, I haven't joined yet....I work out in my head...does that count??? hahahahaa! Have a great one! Loved the pics, Lap Dancer! :tt1:
  25. Purplelady~ the only thing ever said to me was..."Don't drink diet soda, it'll stretch your pouch out." Other than that...nuttin. Do any of those rules apply to Lap Band, or are they intended for gastric bypass? (I got the correlation about the stretching...thanks!:biggrin2: Glad to know its normal with healing) Are we supposed to use water like that? For "water loading"? I'd never heard that before. Lap Dancer~ yup! Thats how I lose too...quick 3....nuttin for several weeks...another quick 3...nuttin. Fun during that week its going down, not so fun the rest of the time! heehee! Glad your doing so well and found your sweet spot! Yay! Dynamo~ yay on the exercise! And it is wicked cold today...huh? It snowed all day with very little results. Big, fluffy, dry snow. So I went out and blew it all off the drive and decks! Let's bring on the warm sunshine tomorrow and melt this schtuff right outta here! I hate a day that the high is 10! (I bet Marcy wishes it would get anywhere near that!) Have a great night all!
