    Anyone Nov. 28 surgery date??

I was sleeved Nov 28 at Kaiser in Richmond, Ca. I have lost 65 pounds! 40 pre-op, 25 post.
  2. I am only 3 weeks post-op, so I am right there in it with you. It sounds like you have a great supportive husband, so let him support you! He probably feels a lack of control with your situation (as husbands do) and letting him care for you and your kids will make him feel better while you rest and get better too. The dishes and laundry can wait- you need to take care of you for the time being. Being on liquids for 4 weeks will make you hungry and even agitated about the things you can't eat. I just graduated to pureed and am feeling so much more satisfied. I still LOVE food. I will love food whether I am fat or thin, sleeved or not, but now I can cook, watch cooking shows and not feel sad or angry. I can cook a great dinner for my kids and be excited for them without being sad for me. It is a transition- don't be discouraged- talk to others, share your story and listen to theirs. You will be feeling better in no time.
  3. I started with 1/4 cup too, and I was able to eat maybe a third of it at first. I don't really measure (bad girl) but I made a 5oz portion of fish for dinner last night, and it will last me 3-4 meals. I like fish because I can flake it into small pieces without pureeing. I have done the same the same with chicken breast and added a little bbq sauce. I feel so much better eating "normal" foods. I was getting agitated a couple weeks ago when I was eating yogurt and the family was eating chinese food.
  4. I believe it. I have been on so many job interviews in the last year and I know my weight plays a huge factor in my not getting the jobs. I can't wait to interview again in a few months!

1 Week Post Op, How Much Clear Liquids Can You Eat At A Sitting?

Maybe you should try heavier foods? Cream of chicken soup and greek yogurt were filling for me. Just listen to your body. You will definitely be eating less in the next stage.
  6. I had liquid pain meds, but I only took a couple doses once I got home. Try warm liquids. They are more soothing on your healing tummy. I have never been a tea drinker, but mint tea with a squirt of agave was heavenly on those first few days. Keep walking. Movement improves everything. Good luck to you! And congrats!
  7. I started pureed foods last week and I was nervous too. I have pureed some things, and others just mashed with a fork and I have had no problems. I actually went to Costco yesterday and was able to eat samples! I had the inside of a chicken tamale and 1 meatball and I was full. I took it slow and chewed everything very well. Your portions will be much smaller than the last stage, and be sure not to overdo it. If you think you might be full, then you are. For me, the "too full" feeling lasted an hour and was very uncomfortable. Good luck!
  8. I am feeling great! About day 6 or 7 was the turning point for me. I started going to a Kaiser support group in South Sac last month- I don't know of any that are closer. How about you?
  9. Congrats Miss Nurse! I was sleeved just last Monday. I see you are in Antelope? Me too!
  10. down 15 pounds post-op for a total of 55! woop!

    CA Sleevesters

Hi Lessizmoore, I have heard through the Kaiser message board that there is a support meeting every Thurs 7pm at Raley's @ Madison/Fair Oaks. They say it is not affiliated with Kaiser, and is open to anyone pre or post op. I have not verified this myself, but I need to drag my butt over there
  14. You look great Diva! Your progress is amazing. I can't wait to get a breast reduction/augmentation. It was one of my biggest motivators to get sleeved. First, a normal sized body with the sleeve, then normal sized breasts. Yay!
  15. I'm sane! The bariatric psychologist said so. ;)

  16. SoCal is a little different than NorCal, but basically there is no official stamp of approval. Once you meet with your surgeon and they confirm that you are a good candidate for surgery, then you know you are on your way. Meet your weight loss goal and attend all other appointments, and you will get a surgery date. I suggest you join the SoCal group and speak to them directly for the specifics. Good Luck!!

    Forty Makeover Time?

I say go for it too! I got braces(for the second time) in my late 30s. My teeth really hurt for a few weeks and I couldn't eat much. Sounds like a perfect time to be on a liquid diet
  18. My dietician said cow's milk, no almond milk. I really like Almond milk and it is as low as 40 cal while skim is 90. But... almond milk only has 1g protein and skim milk has 9g.
