  1. I will probably be getting this same list at my last BEND class. Dr. Kim is my surgeon also ;)

Good luck with your surgery!!! (August 7 is my birthday - good choice in dates! LOL!)

Thanks, you too!!! And happy early birthday! We definitely need to stay in touch. :) So when is your surgery scheduled with Dr. Kim?

I had the endoscopy yesterday at Forest Park Medical and met a lady there that was having surgery by Dr. Kim on the same day as me. It was pretty cool!

My 2 week liquid diet starts Monday...ugh.

  2. I had my endoscopy this afternoon and the anesthesiologist was surprised I was having sleeve surgery. She said she didn't think I was heavy enough and most of the people she's seen that have it are heavier, and why am I having it. I know she probably didn't mean it in a bad way but it kind of made me feel bad. I've thought about this a lot, done a lot of research and my BMI was 40 when I started looking into this. I've already had to defend my reasons to certain family and friends. (Only my family, my mom and sister and a couple of very close friends know) I didn't think I'd have to explain myself to a doctor that isn't directly involved in my decision. Ugh! Anyone else go through this?

I had my Endoscopy yesterday and the nurse said the same exact thing to me! I can't tell you how many times people have asked me that question. It used to seriously offend me, now I just smile and tell them thank you and that I am doing it because after a great deal of research my doctor and I feel it is the right decision for me...then leave it at that. That usually gets them to stop. :-)

  3. Hi there...my endoscopy is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Could someone tell me about how long you were groggy after you were on your way home from the procedure? My friend is taking me there and picking me up but I was wondering if it was safe for me to drive home after I hung out at her house for a few hours.

  4. I saw this post and had to share it with our group (for those of us that are single) ... :)

While the world offers many new "opportunities" now, here are some things that are good about going through this journey single:

    1. You are the only one that can sabotage yourself (ie eat bad things etc)

    2. You can define your own schedule for fitting in exercise and what your post surgery routine will be.

    3. You learn to judge yourself by what you see not by what a partner sees/perception

    4. Your eventual partner will only know the "new" you, in my case the person my eventual partner will see a sexy, confident, a person who loves themselve inside and out, fit and active person....lucky partner lol

    Just my 2c

  5. Hello fellow sleevers! Add me to the list... I am getting sleeved on August 27th! I am about half way thru reading all 29 pages of this post.. so much to read! But full of lots of good ideas. I am 39 years old and have been overweight the majority of my life. I have battled with myself for years about having surgery... Until I read about the sleeve' date=' I really just didn't see it in my future. I have lost weight in the past and was quite active... but in the last 5 years, I have gained it all back and then some. Since I know how it feels to MOVE my body, I just cant deal with all of this extra weight anymore. My 40th bday is coming up, and I decided enough is enough. My body hurts from the weight... I want to be able to run, rock climb, do a zip line.. all of that! I look forward to the reading all of your posts![/quote']

    Welcome, Blue!! :)

  6. Yea when i shook it up it was. then i put it in the freezer for a little while and it was fine. It kinda tastes like watered down crystal light?? do you think so too or am i not putting enough powder in? hard to tell how much to put in. i didn't wanna put too much in.

That's a good idea to put it in the freezer for a little while. Mine tasted watered down too. I used the whole individual packet. I think I'll try putting more ice in it next time to see if that bulks it up some.

Have you tried Unjury? I bought some of those samples as well and I think it is better.

  7. Hey all! Well i messed up a bit yesterday and ate probably more than i should. I was up .6 from my last weigh in check (7/15) so today i drank only shakes. and i had 2 SF jello's . I ordered banana Protein (muscle milk light) and it came today....its really good. SO i have this in addition to my choc and vanilla...i also got the nectar samples. I tried the caribbean cooler ...its OKAY. not horrible...but not something i'd crave lol.

So- QOTD- what Protein powders have you tried, what will you use after surgery?

Do you have a Target near you? My Target carries Muscle Milk in several different flavors. They come in a 4 pack right? I think it was $5.98 for the 4 pack.

I ordered the nectar samples too. Was yours really foamy?

  8. I told my daughters last night. The two oldest figured it out a while ago. They are very supportive and understood my need to be ready to tell them My youngest, 17 had one concern. She said if I get the surgery, I wouldn't be as comfortable to lie on anymore. Let's hope so! She can use a pillow. .

LOL I can't wait to have more energy to keep up with my 15 year old, or at least try to. She wears me out!

  9. @cegull I like the attitude you have. I am starting liquid diet on monday too. I have not kicked soda habit yet. Thanks for that comment cause my family is like you should stop your soda drinking now.. um no i have until 23 leave me alone. I have a great support system o should listen too...

Thanks :) Trust me, it wasn't easy but I figured I had better start with something instead of trying to do everything cold turkey all at once.

That's awesome that you have a great support system. My teenage daughter isn't happy with me getting the surgery because she thinks I don't need it. I'm trying my best to be patient and explain to her what the benefits are by my doing this. Deep down I think it just boils down to her being scared about me having the surgery (even though she won't admit that).

  10. Hi everyone :) I had my last nutrition class and pre-op appt at my doctor's today. It is getting SO real now!! I have to be on a liquid diet for 2 weeks - that starts Monday. I am already in da zone to lose weight so I stopped drinking all soda a couple of weeks ago and have been replacing 1 meal a day with a Protein Shake. They weighed me this morning and I have already lost 7 lbs before starting the real liquid diet. YAY!!! 3 more weeks til surgery!
