You also can inform CIGNA that you are filing a complaint with the insurance commissioner.

Insertion was mildly uncomfortable. Similar to period cramps. If you have heavy cramping during periods, it may be similar for a couple days after insertion. Totally worth it, IMO.

PPI can cause rebound acid for like 2 weeks when we stop them after taking them for a long time.
They should be tapered and you can add in Maalox or Tums. But, I do think you should have your doc look at you because pain is not typical.

Unbelievable. What a long process. I hope you recover quickly from the procedure.
I get really nauseous from general as well. The anesthesiologist had me take take 2 Dramamine 2 hours before the procedure. (I had surgery Friday and I had no nausea!!!)
You'll be Cowgirl up before you know it! It's almost rodeo season, after all.

The first letter meant they didn't get all the documentation they require from your doctor. I believe the last letter is the authorization and this mess is about paperwork catching up to paperwork. Which insurance company is this?

You will likely find some foods "slide" for you and others do not. Once you move to solids and try to eat some meat, you will meet your restriction. Dense foods fill up fast. The other thing I remember is that some days I seemed to have never ending capacity and then bam!restriction. Follow the plan. Keep posting. Try to distract yourself from testing the limits of your sleeve. Instead focus on learning to stop eating when satisfied
-
I just wanted to stop by to say you look amazing!
I thought this too. So much progress!
-
My surgeon's point was the sleeve is the middle of the road and if patients don't do well they can revise to RNY or get a lapband.
-
Have you caught the stones yet? Buggers.

At 3 weeks out you totally can be experimenting with different acid blockers. Prilosec 40mg twice a day for 6 months is standard in my surgeons practice. However, some people do better on Protonix twice a day. There is another one as well. They all act a little differently. So don't settle!

@@CBT how much cardio do you do?
I do interval training with weights every other day or just weights and low impact aerobics. I dance 3 days a week for 75 minutes. One rest day.
-
My understanding is that it's your BMI at your first appointment and not your BMI as you've been prepping for surgery.
-
A couple things to work on, if you aren't, 1) don't drink any calories (focus on eating to fire your metabolism and help with feeling satisfied. ) 2) make sure you are weight training. Muscles burn more calories than fat and they burn more calories at rest. So don't go more than 48 hours without lifting weights.
In order to stop losing, I had to slow down my weight training. I couldn't eat more and didn't want to eat crap, but I had the opposite problem of not being able to stop losing. Turns out it was my big muscles )))

I was remembering today how my mother berated me about being fat. My entire life. (Mind you she was 98 pounds.) The memory today was how she took me shopping to buy jeans and nothing fit me, "you're too fat. You're embarrassing me. I hate taking you shopping." Yea, she is not in my life. I'm a healthy and well adjusted and totally at peace. Sometimes these memories arrive to remind me how much healing I really have done.

My surgeon considers yogurt a liquid. So I drank Protein Shakes and then had yogurt for dinner [emoji6]

I have A LOT if kidney stones. She. They first occurred about 4 years ago, I had a 20mm and 9mm stone on the left and a 10mm and 9mm on my right. They had to do something because you can only pass a 5mm-6mm on your own. (Have they said the approx size?) For mine to grow that large, they had been there probably 2 years but didn't cause pain until they moved. I had 3 rounds of lithotripsy (both kidneys at same time) and bi-lateral ureter scents for 3 weeks. The agents were awful. I have passed many other since then. Mine always come at the worst times - and in fact day after I got home from my RNY, I passed a quite large one. From your description, it sounds like it may be on the way out. The lithotripsy was actually quite easy. Go to sleep, wake up 30 minutes later. Back was a little sore but not too bad. Ice or heat worked for me some. Hot bath helped a lot (especially with the stents).
I have a crazy remedy for you that actually worked on me a few times. My Dr threw it out as sort of a fluke but I tried it and sped up the process of passing it. It is to drink about 8 oz of Fluid then bend over a couch or something with your head facing down (ie your kidneys are pointing downwards) and then pound on your back in the kidney area. You can't do it for too long. I try to pound about 50 times (I use a sock with tennis balls in it) and then staying leaning over, take a break. I know it sounds crazy but the movement does seem to move the stone along. Take ur pain med first (preferably with food so you don't get sick) and then after 30 or so minutes drink the Water. Waiting 30 minutes after drinking is to give time for Fluid to get to your kidneys. The pain will likely come and go but if it continues at the pain level you are at, you may want to go ahead and do the lithotripsy. I've had it done 4 times now. Too many times can damage your kidney but so can a stuck stone. Walking helps move the stone too supposedly as I would imagine rid g a horse would do the same - jostling the stone around.
So sorry you are going thru with this. I know it is no fun! Oh and yes my stomach does get messed up when I am going to pass one. It is sometimes one of my clues one is coming.
If I can help answer any questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

I am having a pain flare and can't keep food down. Not fun. Doctor told me we can do the laser bust it up if I get fed up with this....and I am starting to consider it.
It has been great to get support from so many - I feel awful whereas a day or ago I was "ok"
Did others have bloating and Constipation? My normally flat tummy is distended and I have gained alot of weight in a week. I feel pretty gross actually.
Since I saw the CT scan images I know things look okay other than inflammation from this - and they could tell I was filled with gas in the images too. Anyway I know this will be ok, but right now I feel like I am dying. I know that is pretty dramatic sounding but I am sure my blood pressure is elevated, I am very queasy and bent over in pain.

I had that massive bloating and distention with the erosive gastritis. Gas X helped. Entire abdomen was hard like a small basketball. Painful. I felt gross, too.
I don't think you sound dramatic at all. You sound painful.
What's the reasoning against doing the laser? Just to see if you can pass it on your own?
Two friends had stents put in for their kidney stones but they were recurrent.
I'm so bummed that you have pain.

I am 7 weeks postop and have only been eating Protein and a tiny bit of veggies. I want to start expanding the foods I can eat, but I'm scared. I don't want to eat carbs like bread, rice, or Pasta, but I'm thinking of stuff like nuts, plain Greek yogurt, berries, things like that.
What bothers me is, will my weight loss slow down because I'm introducing some carbs and sugar? Should I just stick to Protein only with a little veggies?
I would really appreciate some suggestions of what to eat that's still good for me

Are you exercising? What are you doing?

What I have learned on these boards is that RNY is "the cure" surgery for reflux. I think you make a strong case for RNY especially since you can't afford a revision.
-
The possible saving grace, is that people who want to test run the sleeve, can revise to RNY. (I understand it would be a second surgery and all that that brings.) I do think I'd follow surgeon's advise. I do believe it's smart to preop investigate the cause.

You get IV antibiotics at surgery.
