  1. I am pre-op so Idk what I'm talking about as this relates to the life of a sleeved; yet, it occurred to me, so I thought I'd mention it. Currently, the right amount if exercise regulates my hunger. If I don't exercise, I don't eat well or make good choices. If I over do it, I'm super hungry later. Made me wonder if looking at your exercise would help?

  2. I have a four year old and an eight year old. They both know that I'm having "tummy surgery" but as to what they know' date=' it's different levels for each.

The four year old know that I will be gone overnight and he will be staying with my parents for a couple of days. That's really about it for him, because I'm not sure he's ready for the whole story.

My eight year old knows a little more about it. She knows exactly what they're going to do to me and the changes that are going to happen afterward. She's been my little cheerleader. Tonight when I was making dinner, I said "Oh my Lord, this is killing me!!" (i'm on my two week pre-op diet) and she said "Be strong, Mama! You can do it!" :-)[/quote']

How stinking cute is she!!! She loves you :)

  3. I read the book Madeline with my 3 yo daughter a few nights in a row. The night before my surgery' date=' I told her that the next day I was going to the hospital to have my tummy fixed. She was very excited and asked if I would have a scar like Madeline's when I came home. After I got home, she was very sweet and asked to see my boo-boos. She kissed my tummy before she went to bed at night and took the whole thing in stride. Thank god for Madeline![/quote']

We have this book. I'll have to reread it...

  4. My kids are a lot older so they knew what was happening because is was discussed around the house. However, I do not think I would encumber kids three and eight with information other than "mommy's had surgery and she is recovering".

Now i'm wondering if any one did not tell their kids? What was your reasoning?

    This is helpful.

    Thank you!!!

  5. My kids are young at 3 and 8. What did you say to your kids? What did they say/do in response?

Just to be clear, but hopefully not too forward, I'm not asking what you think I should tell my kids. More like I find my thinking takes shape when I have the honor reading your stories.

  6. Watermelon sounds hydrating but I just read that it is a natural diuretic!!!! Not so good for hydration.

I can have sweet potato in week four. There is an organic, canned version (for pies I'm sure) at Whole Foods and year around. It's very thin and silky. My kids eat it. I find it other places only at the winter holidays.

  7. I know you say that he was supportive of your surgery' date=' but was he really? Just because he said that doesn't make it true. You are transforming yourself, not everyone will be as happy for you as you might hope. But, you made the step towards life. You will have a long, healthy life to watch your son grow up. So, get it together girl! First thing! You must physically heal. Rest yes, but get out of that bed and walk, play with your son, hell, try on some new clothes! Tell yourself how beautiful and amazing you are. The first man in your life, is that little boy. Watch him while he's watching you. What do you see? Pure adoration, I'm sure. Breathe, meditate, nourish yourself and accept love from yourself. In a couple of weeks, get some help and find yourself somewhere more affordable to live. Get rid of anything that's not benefiting you anymore. Like my grandma used to say, when things get rough, put your lipstick on and keep going. Best wishes.[/quote']

  8. This is my first post! After years of consideration and then a six month medically supervised diet, I'm scheduled for sleeve on July 25th in Portland, OR with Emma Patterson. These forums are really helping my mental preparation. Game On! (Where's the spell check?)
