  1. Sounds like you could return to previous stage and try again in a week. Just may be too soon. Beans and lentils, other than dairy, were my staples before I could tolerate meat. Lots of sleevers start on fish and shellfish. Seems better tolerated than meat. It does get better. You have a baby tummy :-)

  2. Congratulations on your baby girl! I had two children before I was sleeved. I wanted to write because I suspect you might want to pay more attention to your sleep and food choices. I think you might find the more fragmented your night sleep or the less total night sleep you get, the more carbs and more hunger you have the next day. There is quite a lot of science around sleep deprivation and weight issues. Recently more focus of food choices. Ppl use fast carbs to fuel feeling awake and alert. It's crazy the amount of calories a person will consume, over their normal day calories, when they aren't getting enough sleep. Be your own scientist. Track it. I wonder what you'll find?

  3. ITA with iggy. Fever is a symptom. Please call your doctors. Sometimes too late is just too late. Not to be alarmist but being realist. I am happy for you that you got to hold your babies and come home. Iggy's kinda earned Oracle status around here. She has body and experience wisdoms. She's a good one to attach to :-)

I gained 12 pounds during the VSG with swelling and IV fluids. I was in hospital two nights. So lots of IV. It was almost two weeks to lose that. Since then, I've never experienced a stall.

On Monday, I just had a second surgery for abdominal hernia repair. Quite a major second surgery. I am now 3.5 mos VSG post op. I was losing 2 pounds a week and quite pleased with my progress. I gained 6 pounds during this latest procedure. I am swollen (takes blood volume to swell) but had less IV fluids. I dropped one pound yesterday. I also walked a mile yesterday. (I am recovering well enough to move which moves the Fluid.) this very long post to say, your scale will move. Your body is holding Fluid and swelling in attempt to heal. You aren't gaining weight. Promise.

I wish you all my best for a quick resolution to this problem. I also hope for calm and a peaceful heart as you move into recovery.

  4. Talk to your NUT. You probably need to look closely at foods that cause gas IN YOU. Many ppl become lactose sensitive if not intolerant after VSG. cheese has more lactose than yogurt. Milk is the gassiest offender of dairy. Many carbs can cause gas. Including complex carbs. I have a friend who can not eat granola with out bloat and gas. Then there's the gassy veggies...

Make sure you're practicing the basics of chewing and not gulping....

  5. I'm three months po. I eat about 900 calories now. My surgeon/NUT say three meals and two Snacks. I was having a hard time getting veggies because I'd get full so my NUT said drop last snack and eat second dinner. I have never had a stall. I workout most days. I drink my Water. If you don't get enough calories you will stall. When I'm consistently more hungry, I go back to basics: Protein first (think meat/dense). Then veg. Then fruit. Then complex carbs.

I think your surgeon is whacked. Lol.

Eat for health and wellness. You can't eat enough calories in two meals. You know that. Follow your instincts on this one. :eye roll:

  6. I hope I don't post twice. My first post timed out!

VSG was originally used as a safe was to convert high BMI to RNY! This advise you're getting does not make sense. When I initially consulted my surgeon explain the VSG is middle of the road and if you don't achieve your goals with VSG, you can still convert to RNY or lap band!!!

I strongly suggest you consult another surgical practice. Maybe you have health risks we don't understand but on the face if it. This makes no sense.

  7. All that looks similar to my instructions. The only difference was instead of soft cheese my surgeon considers yogurt a liquid. When I progressed to getting yogurt in that's when I really started to feel restriction. I eat fage Greek yogurt and it is quite dense!

Oh and I could not digest no fat (very runny) Refried Beans until closer to week four! They sat like rocks. Lol. Every one sure is different :-)

  8. I really like sweet tea, too; however, my surgeon said no caffine for four weeks and I followed her directions.

I have always been a Water drinker. I developed a Water aversion a couple weeks ago. Also, I really don't like crystal light, etc because I don't enjoy the flavor of artificial sweetener.

I found Lifewater by Sobe and I love it!!

Maybe you could shop around and work at it a bit so you train your mind and body early on to follow guidelines to a healthier you.

Caffine is also a psychostimulant. It has effects on mood disorders as well as being diuretic, stimulating appetite, and potentially ulcerative. Caffine has direct action on receptors in the stomach. Be kind to your baby tummy :-)
