    Oregon - Eugene specificially

Dr. Patterson is a rock star. Sleeved 7/25. So happy with her and the entire team and hospital experience. She became animated and more personable post-op. i think she is focused and some what detached pre-op. (I do not think this is a bad thing.) You're gonna do great!!! life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
  3. I like MFP! Im three days post-op and cant wuite get out if the fog to add you guys. Lol. Will you friend me? life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
  4. I'm home! Surgery went really well. I have an abdominal hernia from my last c-section. My Dr considers hernia repair at the same time as bariatric surgery a "dirty procedure," so I will have this repaired in 3 months. She thinks I'll heal faster this way, also. As per my usual, my pain was poorly controlled the first night. By about four pm on the 26th, I bounced back. CO2 is disipated/absorbed. I took several laps down the hospital hall and had a shower! A doctor warned me, "hey, there's a speed limit down this hall." everyone was great. Very supportive teams. I stayed two nights because it took me that long to get consistently drinking fluids. I was ready to come home today, though. I took a 15 minute walk with my family tonight and ate an ounce of yogurt! The high life of a loser. I tell ya! I'm doing really well. In part thanks to your supportive words and positive thoughts. Going to watch the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. x ...and the day came when the need to remain closed became more painful than opening -unknown

  7. They monitor sugars in surgery even if you're not diabetic because like pp said, the body responds to stress with glucose and cortisol, etc. A fasting/liquid diet will cause physical stress. Idk what this means for a diabetic, specifically. Simply that all people have the capacity to trspond this way. Just more information. No conclusions here. I hope they level out and you feel better soon. life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

How Often Should You Be Walking?

lol. I'm 5'2 and jogging at 4.0. lol 3.5 is a great pace when you're short. When I want to switch it up, I add 1% incline ever two minutes. I do the same on the way back down. I exercise 6 days a week. I am pre-op (until tomorrow)! Three days, at a minimum, but more like five with a minimum of a half hour once you're in your target heart rate. Listen to your body. If its tired and sore, rest. If its like, c'mon c'mon! Then get moving!!! Good luck. life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

    Over Eating

With surgery next Wed the 25th, I wish I would've made this connection sooner. I wasn't over-eating but not working as hard at cleaning up my diet. About a month ago I realized that I could've started at a lower surgery weight thus getting me closer to goal with the sleeve? I don't think I'm saying this as clearly as its in my head. Must be time to sleep. life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
  19. I have my final pre-op appointment. I have a couple of questions and I think I'm prepared with all the collective knowledge here; yet, I keep wondering g if I'm asking the most effective questions to help me manage next week. What kind of questions did you have at this last appointment? Anything you wish you'd asked pre-op? Thanks for the support! life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
