  3. I hope I don't post twice. My first post timed out! VSG was originally used as a safe was to convert high BMI to RNY! This advise you're getting does not make sense. When I initially consulted my surgeon explain the VSG is middle of the road and if you don't achieve your goals with VSG, you can still convert to RNY or lap band!!! I strongly suggest you consult another surgical practice. Maybe you have health risks we don't understand but on the face if it. This makes no sense. life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

  6. All that looks similar to my instructions. The only difference was instead of soft cheese my surgeon considers yogurt a liquid. When I progressed to getting yogurt in that's when I really started to feel restriction. I eat fage Greek yogurt and it is quite dense! Oh and I could not digest no fat (very runny) Refried Beans until closer to week four! They sat like rocks. Lol. Every one sure is different :-) life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
  7. I really like the idea of returning to early food stages. Keep an eye to the type of foods that are triggering this behavior and remove them until you get clarity and control. Brave soul for reaching out! life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

    Sweet Tea

I really like sweet tea, too; however, my surgeon said no caffine for four weeks and I followed her directions. I have always been a Water drinker. I developed a water aversion a couple weeks ago. Also, I really don't like crystal light, etc because I don't enjoy the flavor of artificial sweetener. I found Lifewater by Sobe and I love it!! Maybe you could shop around and work at it a bit so you train your mind and body early on to follow guidelines to a healthier you. Caffine is also a psychostimulant. It has effects on mood disorders as well as being diuretic, stimulating appetite, and potentially ulcerative. Caffine has direct action on receptors in the stomach. 19. Recent research from Harvard suggest too many typical Americans (not WLS patients) take ppi. They looked at alternatives. Their findings suggest an apple at lunch and an apple at dinner allowed a statistically significant number for patients to get off and stay off at 3 month follow up, their ppi. I do not remember the method (if they tapered off the ppi) life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX

  21. Did a search and couldn't find the thread from June '12 about post op back pain? It's mid-back. Intermittent. Did you figure out why we sometimes get back pain? Did any one ask their doc about this? I think mine's related to fatigue...I don't have history of back problems. No other pain. Thanks! life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. Back Pain

Found the answer: "Pain often is referred from the heart, lungs, gallbladder, liver, kidneys, and gastrointestinal system to the thoracic region since there is overlap of nerve distribution (8, 9)." I'm just healing still :-) life is a journey, not a destination; so, stop running -H.D. THEROUX
