    Why Do I Do It?

    ...because this is NOT an easy process, and old habits die hard. While I haven't really had any food cravings, or food catastrophies, I know all it would take is one bag of original Lays to send me spiraling downward. Good for you on changing that order to a salad.
  3. I tore my meniscus while kickboxing, and knew that I would never have knee surgery while carrying 284lbs on my 5'4" body. Oh, I have a great wardrobe, and take pride in looking put-together. But all those great (size 22/24!) clothes were masking ALOT of fat! I was wearing a beautiful new dress on my birthday in Feb., and thought I looked pretty good. That was until I saw pictures. "Was I REALLY that large?" I still shudder when thinking about that photo. Also, it got stressful making sure I always had a sweater or jacket to match EVERY outfit. Why??? Cause my arms are so gross, I never show them in public! Sigh... Aching feet, sore knees, fat ass...time for a change. I saw an ad for WLS, and knew that at age 52, it was now, or never. I was sleeved July 3, 2012, and ready/anxious for a new, healthy me.

    I can relate. Although, I have to say, I do fit into a pair of jeans that were T*I*G*H*T before surgery, and I can actually close them now! So, I guess I am happy with inches lost. Also, I can actually feel a collar bone emerging...HIP, HIP, HOORAY!

    I am 4 weeks out, and still stuck on a dismal 12lb weight loss! I will admit to being sooo jealous of those who post about losing 90 lbs in a few months! I haven't cheated, nor have I had any real food cravings. I have realized that I am not getting in enough calories (go figure!?) and I need more protein. I began a fitness program today, and committed to drinking more shakes, and eating properly. I am hoping these intense workouts will help in the weight loss. In short, I do know everything the original poster said is true and I just need to be patient...never one of my better qualities...

    Hello: I'm not much of a meat eater,either. Do you like Turkey? Turkey has almost double the amount of protein as chicken! I get Boars head (plain) NATURAL sliced turkey from the deli. I will have a few slices with some cheese for lunch,and perhaps a slice or two for a snack or light meal. Do you like meatballs? Meatloaf? You don't have to choke down a steak! Also, I eat almonds for a snack. Also, Sunflower seeds area a great source of protein. Good luck!

    Egg Heaven During Mushies

    I thought I would be eating eggs everyday....HA! I can barely get down one whole egg (scrambled) with cheese. This sucks, as I do NOT eat cottage cheese, yogurt, sour cream or anything else of that texture. So breakfast is usually a protein shake,or watermelon.

  11. I am proud to say I have great friends, and a full social life,so I don't have anyone I want to rub my weight loss in their face. Well...maybe a few in-laws. Enough said.

    Why Are/were You Fat?

    ...I know. Had a good childhood and have a good marriage, fabulous daughters. I wasn't an obese child, but always a few burgers away from fat. I had a decent body in college...then everything went to hell! I am, I realize, an emotional eater. I was sleeved July 3, and ready for a new, slimmer life.

    Ugh...bras!

    If not for work, and having to leave the house looking sane...I would probably NEVER wear a bra again! When sitting, it feels as though this underwire is pressing on my diaphragm....and it ain't fun!

    Watermelon?!?

    I am 2 weeks post-op and finding foods that were compatible with my stomach, is tough...except melon. I asked my surgeon if it was ok, and he said yes...as long as I am getting in Protein. Good luck.
