  1. Normally with FSA you select an amount you want to allot for medical expenses during open enrollment. You then receive a card with that amount and you are allowed to use that for qualified medical expenses (Your surgery is covered). Then each paycheck an amount is taken pre-tax which over 26 pays should equal the amount you allotted into your FSA.

I used my FSA to pay the deductible for my surgery and all I had to do was send in a copy of the receipt and the explanation of benefits.

  2. Good for you!!! I have a 4 year old and my pantry has a few Snacks for him such as Goldfish and Gummy Snacks. I got the urge to eat some of those delicious little Goldfish last night...and oh my gosh...who'd of thought that those little buggers could cause such pain. I got my first real "stuck" episode and finally realized that I need to really think before I eat...those yummy little fish WERE NOT worth the pain.

I am hoping that I will remember this pain next time I start craving something.

I don't know how many times I've had "one" of something my daughter was snacking on and it ended up getting stuck an it's a miserable feeling. And you are so right, it's not worth the pain!

  3. I guess we know why they call it a "garbage disposal"??

Good for you, get the garbage out of the house.

I do not live alone and I didn't want to go cold turkey on changing everyone's eating habits because I made such a drastic change. So I've been finding healthy swaps but it's just as process like anything else

  4. That's not always the case. Eating with the band is a learning experience and it takes a little longer with some of us. Took me 6 months to get there and I'm still nibbling around that green zone. I'm still losing weight but not as fast as I'd like.

Learning to lose those old bad habits can take time. Most of us are guilty of eating much too fast and eating large bites and gulping the hardly chewed food down. Years and years of conditioning takes time to overcome. And it's still a battle for me.

Thank you for sharing this. Changing eating habits is such a big part of this. When I'm having a good week, I lose about 1.5-2lbs per week with no problem but then I fall back into the bad eating habits and sabotage the whole thing.

  5. If you have food demons like me, you may succumb to cravings a lot more than you want to. Everytime I fail (and I fail a lot), I just keep trying to make a better decision with the next meal and/or snack.< /p>

So tonight I was craving these poptarts...the last pack in the cupboard. The box is going on two weeks old and I had 2 when they were first purchased and I was disappointed in myself because of that and had managed to stay away from them. So I go upstairs, I grab the pack, rip it open...and shoved it all into the garbage disposal!!! It felt really good.

Good luck on your journey everyone!!

  6. I had my surgery on 8-24 and don't get my first fill for A month so I'm wondering the people who can't eat bread is it ALL breads like croissants and muffins as well as like sandwich breads ?

The biggest problem I have with bread is that its dry. I can tolerate crackers but sandwiches and cake are a no go.

  7. Yea 1800 Cal is wat I was eatn before I wad banded. N thats for someine who wants to maintain thier Wt not lose

Sent from my SGH-T989 using LapBandTalk

It really depends on weight. At my current weight I need about 2300 calories (based on height and weight) to maintain. When you're losing you're supposed to subtract 500, which leaves me right at 1800. I'm not in the "green zone" so that's the number of calories I aim for, but I have some restriction so, I can't eat that much but it's definately over 1200 and I have been losing still.

  8. If you want to keep it a secret, then go right ahead but honestly reading some of your stories you guys just need to speak up.

"I battle with my weight and when you speak ill of other overweight people is makes me upset and uncomfortable and I need you to stop"

"Mom you're always negative about my attempts to lose weight so therefore i won't share my efforts with you until you can be a little bit more supportive. If you feel that's something you can't so then we won't discuss it"

Not in those words but Christ don't let anyone put you down, make you feel bad or uncomfortable. I don't care who they are.
