I came off Lipitor immediately after surgery.
I had to cut my blood pressure medicine in half a week post-op. At one month post-op I have had to come off my blood pressure medicine completely.
I expect I will have to go back on on some blood-pressure medicine eventually. It is hereditary for me, but the sudden weight loss knocks everything out of equilibrium.

Not morning wood' date=' but oh boy has it gotten BIGGER after a 120 lb weight loss! It's like I took a couple donuts off it. My girlfriend acts like she hit the jackpot! lmao![/quote']My wife was helping me Celebrate my birthday the other night. I am only 45 lbs down but she couldn't help but notice that she had more to work with.

Today is 4 weeks post op. I started the Pre-op diet at a BMI of 39. I have lost 45lbs in the 6 weeks since then.

If you are coming to UK you will have no trouble getting Protein powder' date=' ready made shakes and bars from big supermarkets in large towns (not sure what part of UK you are coming to??) I get ready made shakes with 25g of Protein and 141 calories in Tesco. Most large supermarkets have a good section covering these products. If you are going to very remote areas in Scotland/Wales you may need to stock up. If you need any further help before you travel just let me know.[/quote']
I will be spending 8 days in he Mayfair section of London 8 weeks post op. Some stores that sell ready- made Protein Shakes would be a real blessing. I know how to find a proper pint in SoHo, but shakes will be a new challenge.

Let me pile on. This is a great thread. Given the way it has exploded, I think it points out that best case is pretty common.
I had an easy surgery exept it was hard to pass gas because I was constipated (make sure you don't have one in the chamber when you go into surgery). After that everything was a breeze.
I took a week off from work but did not need it. Zero pain, nausea or hearburn. I was walking two miles, 4 days post op. I was back to working a 60 hour week 10 days after the surgery. I get my Protein and my Water every day without much drama. I am starting to renew my social life (without beer). I am eating out occasionally to feel more normal (sashimi, Soups and seafood).
I just had my 4 week post-op visit today. I am down 45 lbs since I started my pre-op diet 6 weeks ago. That is almost half way to my goal. I am taking my calories up to 1,000 a day.
I am off Cholestoral and blood-pressure medicine. CPAP machine is in the trash. Leaving for a trip around the world next week. No worries.

Thank you very much for this thread. I fly to Singapore 5 weeks post-op. the flight is 18 hours and 45 minutes. I will definately pack a couple of shakes. I will be ble to give plenty of advice on this soon... The next trip is London, the next Amman, and the next Santiago. That gets me to October.

I looked the nutrition up again and you are right, the Protein isn't that impressive. Sometime the data on MyFitnessPal are all over the place

Anybody slurpped down a raw oyster yet? They have lots of Protein and very little fat, but they may not chew up that well. I am a month post-op and looking for interesting options.

I used to sweat when I peeled an orange.
I am only down 43 lbs so far, but yesterday I spent 3 hours on camera in a hot room under. hot lights. It was a long tough interview and I never broke a sweat. It was fantastic.

I woke up with no significant pain. The gas was annoying, but nothing I would call pain. I had no nausea. It took me a whie to pass urine, and a long time to pass gas. That was the only drama. It was really no big deal at all.

Yogurt was a full liquid on my plan, but all of that varies radically Doctor to Doctor

I started with a BMI of 40 at the beginning of he two-week Pre-op diet. I am now 3 1/2 weeks post op. In 5 1/2 weeks I am down 43lbs. I have lost about 5" on my pant size.

The best case scenario is pretty common, but a back-up plan is a good idea. I thought the surgery wasn't big deal except for the annoying gas pain. I went home, drank my Water and hit my Protein targets in a couple of days. I went back to work easily in a week. I am 5 weeks out and I am working 60 hour weeks easily. I eat what I am supposed to and I am losing about 5 lbs a week. I have no heartburn, no pain and no drama. No foods bother me.
It is not a big deal for everybody. I helped to start with that attitude.

Biz...you sound like me. Never got sick' date=' able to get in all of my Protein and Water in (except for the 2-3 days immediately after surgery) and nothing really bothers my stomoach. Your weight loss at your point is a little faster than mine was. I think you'll be fine, probably had a bit of initial muscle loss losing weight that quickly, but that will come back. Congrats on your progress![/quote']Thanks,
Glad I am not alone. I can tell I am losing some muscle but I will start doing some weights soon. I will just keep pounding down the Protein and look forward to the day i can have a beer again.

I gave myself a life-threatening stomach bleed with Advil 2 years before my sleeve. I can see why doctors do recommend it. My wife had an RNY 10 years ago and gave herself a minor ulcer with Advil.
That being said, do not treat Tylenol casually. It is one of the most dangerous OTC drugs on the market if overdosed. It can cause serious liver damage at just double the normal dosage. There is nothing in the drug store that will do that much damage with a double dose. If it were submitted to the FDA today, it would not be certified as OTC. It is one of the most popular suicide drugs in Europe.
Take as directed.
The good news is that when you loose weight things hurt less. I have not had a headache since my sleeve, and my joints feel noticeably better just 40 lbs down. The other good news is that the surgery is not that painful. You hear horror stories on this forum, but for every horror story there are a bunch of people that fly through it.

OMG You dont know how good hummus and crackers sounded although I might avoid the crackers. I'm pre op (surgery on Monday) and just wondering what/when everyone is eating. On my surgeons website mushies are allowed between two weeks and six weeks. I am sure that means it varies for each but as soon as I can on week two I will try it out or wait' date=' depending on how I feel.[/quote']Saltines are magical. They dissolve into mush when you chew them. Most crackers don't. It is great to bite something. The other trick is to brown the corn beef hash until it is nearly burned. That gives crunch and flavor, but that crunchy crust dissolves on your tongue. A little texture helps a lot.

I am 17 days post opt. I feel fine I can eat the soft foods that are on my list with no porblem. I do get full easy and I so far have been able to stop. I am able to drink I dont have to sip. Is this normal ?You are not alone. I am 17 days. Post-op. I can eat just about anything can chew into a paste. Spicy food, beef, pork, sashimi, you name it. Some of us have a lot less drama than others.

I'm just 5 weeks out and doing great' date=' but I've noticed I can eat and drink much more lately than I had been able to. For example, I had no problem eating 2 scrambled eggs this morning and 8 oz of Protein Shake went wdown easily. For lunch I was able to eat approx 10oz of ricotta. Is this normal?Sent from my iPhone using VST[/quote']
I am only 2 1/2 weeks out and I can easily eat a whole egg and a quarter cup of corned-beef hash. I was told that I was only going to be able to eat a quarter cup, a half cup+ seems more like it.
I am still losing a lb a day so I am just going with it, but it seems odd.

I was sleeved on the 11th. I just got upgraded to soft foods. I had a meatball. I smashed it and chewed it for 30 minutes. It was all good.

I use a TAP3 dental appliance for my sleep apnea. It is FDA approved a food proven effective in some cases of severe apnea. It is likely to be all you need for mild apnea. I brought my unused CPAP to surgery, but the they never made me use it because I had another medical device. The TAP 3 is a lifesaver but not cheap. You have to go to a dentist that treats sleep apnea. MUCH easier to use than a CPAP.
