  1. Yes it's cause it can cause gas and that is painful!!!! Im a nurse and I even tell my c/s patients to not sip from a straw. Some people say they do fine but for me I don't want to take a chance cause gas pain can be unbearable. Good luck

    Dating With My Sleeve ;)

Def start out with coffee or drinks. That way you get to know him a little and see if you even want to go out again. You could try movies, bowling, mini golf - not dinners at first. Good luck
  3. Most of my friends and co workers seem happy for me. But there are a couple that say I dint need that and if they see someone " bigger" they say - now they really need it. Of coarse they are both tiny!! They have no clue I'm 5'5" and 280 lbs and I could lose more than they weigh and still be overweight. Oh well at least most are supportive.
  4. Nurse here for 11 yrs. Currently work in labor and delivery. Looking forward to my sleeve in oct. 12 mo wait list and 6 mo of classes. I'm so looking forward to it and feeling good and healthy ! I'm also in school online for my BSN.
  5. Get in a support group - mabye the hospital has one by you. It would be helpful to be around others that can encourage you. Also the therapy is good. The first step is you recognized the problem. Now nip it before it's too late. I know you can do it cause u made it thru the surgery and were successful. You are amazing- good luck

    Crazy Vsg Questions

I think these are great questions. But for most of us here we have most likely tried every diet there is and sometimes Were successful. We just cant keep it off. This surgery is a tool to be used with diet exercise and lifestyle change. One big reason I think people say it helps post op is because they are not hungry. Yes you did have your stomach physically made smaller But there was also a hormonal change that occured. I'm pre op now. My insurance was very strict. 12 month wait list and 6 mo of dietary , behavioral health , exercise class and support groups. Finally after 15 mo I will be sleeved in oct. Happy for the great support I will get but sooooo ready!! Good luck in your journey! As for now I'm not nervous just ready to take it on !

Have To Lose 36 Lbs. -- How?

Definitely Atkins is a good choice. I was successful the first time losing 50 lbs in 2.5 mo!! Of coarse then I got prego and here I am. But for u the weight will come off fast and fairly easy. Take the time to read about the diet and follow it. The first week is kinda hard , getting those carb cravings out but you will find u will start to feel better and there are so many other things to eat and you WONt be hungry. Good luck!!
  8. Yea it's a liver shrinking diet and very important for the liver to be small enough so he or she can see to do the surgery. Just think if u can make it thru these 2 weeks it will be over and safer for you. Good luck!!

    The Waiting Unite

I totally understand. I had to be put on a waiting list for 12-15 months and then do their program which takes 6 months. I was put on wait list January 2011 and will have surgery in October. I feel like it can't come soon enough!! I'm soooo ready.

  11. Congrats on your decision. I am also a Kaiser pt and they make you go through a bunch if appts but they have a good program to help you through so you will be successful. I have my appt with the doc on Monday. I've been to dietary, behavioral health and exercise classes. I'm ready to get thus surgery scheduled!! There is so much great info on this - so welcome!!
  12. I've been in this forum for awhile just reading everybody's threads. This is such a great community!! I'm looking forward to sharing with everyone. Just a little about me- I'm 35 and a Labor and Delivery nurse and I love my job. Over the years after 3 kids and many diets I've lost and gained weight over and over. My insurance company required me to be on a waiting list for 12 months just to get into their bariatric surgery program. Then you have 4-6 months of dietary, exercise and behavioral health classes. I must admit I'm a little jealous of the ones that get their surgery a month or even weeks after deciding:( but I'm hope with the support I can be successful this time. I'm probably going to have surgery in Sept. Looking forward to sharing and for the support!
