  1. I hadn't read about the runny nose. But I do get one. I'm just 4 months out and am better at not taking that extra bite that causes the pain and sometimes vomit.

i have noticed I don't chew as well as I did in the beginning. This causes problems. I attribute some of it to rotator cuff surgery and I cannot cut my food to well. So I had bigger bites. Bigger bites cause me to be full without eating much. I have to correct myself and remember to chew better. Since I can eat anything I find that I'm not as conscious when eating. I love salad and I think it's the hardest to chew thoroughly. Anyone else have this problem?

    I have that problem too

I have to really work on my bite sizes and try and chew more. It's a challenge but we can do it! :)

  2. I was born in 87' date=' so don't personally remember the 80s, but run a very busy bar and know my grog. My go to drink now is vanilla absolut with mint and cloudy apple juice. I'll sit on it for about an hour because its so sweet, but the mint is so refreshing. And mint is good for you, cloudy apple juice is high in fibre and vanilla is an aphrodisiac (I guess the vodka is too) which encourages you to work out *wink wink*[/quote']

That sounds like a tasty drink!

I'm going to try that soon

  3. Hey everyone! I'm a little over a week postop....the first day of my puréed diet went well but now not sure what I'm feeling...

For the first 4 day I was in TERRIBLE pain right under my biggest incision (which I hear is pretty normal). Day 5 was much improved and day 6 was basically pain free! This am when I woke up I was still basically pain free. My family and I decided to take the children in our family to the science center today. After about 3 hours' date=' I noticed that I have this new pain....this time it's above my biggest incision :-/ No fever, no nausea, and my incisions are free from signs of infection....

Do you think I possibly over did it today? Has anyone else had a "new pain" arise after feeling basically great?[/quote']

    Perhaps!

You are doing way better than I was after surgery.

I didn't get out of the house except for small walks up and down my street.

I didn't get out and about until week three.

But I see people here who spring right back and go back to work after a few days.

Keep checking your temp and watch for other signs that may mean you need to be seen... Like racing heart or diarrhea those types of things

And it's always good to call your doctor for some guidance.

    I called weekly :)

  4. A few days ago' date=' I marinaded shrimp with an Asian style marinade. When I took it out to cook it, the thought of having to ingest it and the smell was just too much. I used to love Chinese food. I could eat it everyday, several times a day, but post-op the smell makes me want to vom. I hope it is temporary, if not, my foodie days are over.[/quote']

For some reason I cannot tolerate seafood now ... I loved seafood before

Now maybe not tolerate is too much but certain foods smell too strong for me.

I can eat it if someone else prepares it and the smell is not so strong.

    Otherwise I'm out.

So I can totally relate to what your experiencing

  5. I am 11 days post op' date=' yesterday I started to get a soreness about the size of my hand starting at the big incision and down the front of my abdomen again about the size of my hand. Its a new soreness like a giant bruise. It hurts more to bend over and turn even on my good side in bed. Has anyone else felt this pain? Is it something I should worry about?

I was doing relatively good. Getting better each day. This seems like a set back.[/quote']

    Jacee,

It may very well just be soreness but there are lots of things to be considered.

Since you are so newly post op you should call your drs office and speak with his assistant or nurse and let them guide you.

    All my best!
