  1. Hi everyone. I had my sleeve 12/13/11. I've lost 75 poundsS. I had a lot of pockets of fat that hanged from my back my sides and my tummy. Even though I'm down to a size 10 from a 22, I became depressed when I undressed. I tried everything to firm up and burn that fat. I got up to 5 miles 5 days on the tracks. I got a lot of "oh my God, you look great!" but, I was depressed when I undressed. On 8/23/12, I went to phrase 2. I had SmartLipo. I'm still bruised and swollen, but I know I will be pleased after I heal up. I will let everyone know as I progress. Good luck to all who are about to start this journey.....it is SO worth it. Stay prayerful.

  2. Hi - don't worry about how you're doing' date=' tomorrow will be my 2nd anniversary. I've lost a total of 81 lbs, 20 prior to surgery. I reached goal in just under 5 months. I've never felt better in my life. I wear a size 4 jeans! I am 52, I've NEVER worn this size. I totally skipped it when I was a teenager! Seriously! I have never thrown up, although there have been a couple of times I've thought I would, pretty eary out and after eating out. I still weigh and/or measure most of my food most of the time and I keep an on line food log so I can keep track of the calories and my Protein. I weigh twice a day, it's like a game with me. At night I guess what I'll weigh in the morning. I go up and down, some times 3.5 lbs in a week. I eat anything I want, but since I am not really hungry any more, it's easy to make wiser choices and not over do. A piece of cake or a cookie rather than 4 Cookies or two large pieces of cake. I am never hungry like I use to be, for the first year I basically had NO HUNGER. I ate because I knew I needed to, it tasted good and it is what we do socially. I think now I eat like a naturally thin person. I still have good restriction, I needed this, it's forced Portion Control. I love it and would do it again in a heartbeat! There are things I don't eat, or certainly not often. If there are french fries, I may eat four or five. Not an order and I do NOT mind throwing food away. If it's something I can eat the next day, I'll bring it home, but if not.....I make sure to eat the Protein first, the rest, not a big deal. We share a lot when we go out to eat, which costs less and is healthier for my husband as well. I've been maintaining for about eighteen months, to stay between 143 and 147, I need to eat about 1200 calories a day. When I was in the losing stage, early on especially, I was only eating 500 - 650 calories per day. I was healthy and felt good. I was eating 60 - 80 gr of protein a day. Cottage cheese, eggs, tuna, chicken, fish, beef....all high in protein. Fish went down the easiest as far as meat, it still does. I keep a frozen bag of shrimp in the freezer and will steam a few oz for lunch some times. Back then I started and ended every day with a cup of skim milk, protein right there!!! Good luck.....you are on track, every lb you lose is forever! I averaged 10 lbs a month after surgery. I'd go up and down, week to week, but it was steady. Shopping is fun. Life is good!!!

Hey lady I want to grow up and be like YOU!!! I reached my goal in seven months. Lost 65 lbs. since December 13, 2011. I'm 55. I hope to experience what you're experiencing today! Btw, shopping is GREAT! You've made my day thank you for sharing.

  3. I guess I have been feeling depressed lately knowing that I will never just be able to sit down and enjoy a meal again. Eating isn't the same when you get full on 4oz of food. Does anyone else mourn food/eating? I am sad I will never have a calzone or a burrito again lol. I suppose my feelings are intensified by the fact that I am losing weight very slowly. It's been almost 5 weeks and I've only lost 20 lbs post op. I just miss food' date=' the foods I will never have again, and the act of having an actual meal as opposed to 4 bites of food. I feel like im being punished...but i guess i deserve it. I abused my old stomach and turned myself into a disgusting cow. I'd be ok with this punishment if I was losing. I'm only 5'3" so I am very round and it takes a while to feel/see weight loss. Am I alone with these feelings? Seems like everyone else is doing awesome.[/quote']

No, you are not alone.....let me tell ya...I've been mourning food since my surgery December 13, 2012. I've lost 65 lbs. I take it one day at a time and try not to freak out so I order my food like everyone else. I take a picture of my favorite dishes and eat my protien first and veggies. I talk a lot over food and i never ever finish my plate. I take it home and may heat and it some the next day. Most time I share with a friend the next day. A good day is when you eat your Protein Drink your liquids and then go out for lunch. I feel comfortable to order a child's portion and not finish it. It will get better.

  4. Just leaving the cardiologist. Had an ekg last week and it turns out.i have a right bundle blockage. Well according to the cardiologist my heart is healthy with no concerns. I am soo relieved!! So I'm still on for August 10th. It cant come fast enough!

I'm so happy you got good news!! I wish you the best and August 10th is just around the corner. Continue to pray and stay strong. The payoff is amazing!!! You asked when did I start exercising. My surgery was 12/13/11. I started to fill strong enough to walk after my 3 month checkup in March. I walked 1/2 mile for three days then 1 mile the next three days. It was hard and I was out of breathe but the more I did it, the easier it got. So, I pushed on pass the itching and aches. By the end of May, I was up to 3 miles 5 days a week. I saw a huge weight drop and pushed myself to five miles 5 days a week. Well, it didn't hurt anymore and my body was used to it. At my 7 month checkup July 13, 2012, Dr. Yu said congrats you've passed your goal. Now I do three days a week and I'm still losing. It's slow now, about 3 lbs in 10 days.

I will pray that you get through your surgery with zero complication.

  5. Wow, that's great! I also had dr. Yu. I saw him today for my seven months out ck up. My surgery was 12/13/11. I went from 230 to 165. You will do good but it's hard with ups and downs but the payoff is great. I struggled with each stage but I kept getting another chance to work toward my goal. I still hate Protein Drinks but I will down them without a thought. I take the journey one day at a time. Keep a journal. I struggled to walk on the track until I started doing 5 miles 5 days a week. I've stalled for the pass two months but I continue because I know the scale will change soon. You will do good.
