Three days down and so far so good. I have had cravings but I try to put them off. I am a diabetic and had a low the other and and had a teaspoon of peaunut butter. But Dr Washinton told me to not eat anything. He wants me to lose as much as possible since I am a high risk with all of my weight in my stomach. He wants as much room as possible to work in there. I am down about 6 lbs since Tuesday so that is a good thing. It was rough last night I was out doing returns for my wife and I was in costco wanted a hot dog really badly but bought a botle of Water instead. This morning got up walked a mile and then did some exercises on my bowflex then off to work. I would like to lose 30 lbs before the surgery. Good luck I will keep you posted.

Check with your doctor they should be setting you up with a meal plan for pre op and post op. Every doctor has a different plan. Since I am so big the doctor wanted me to go on protien shakes for 3 weeks instead of his normal recommendation of 2 weeks as mentioned above to reduce the size of the liver so they have more room to work. Post Op I am on 1 week of Clear liquids. Does anyone know of a good clear liquid protien supplement. Week 2 full liquids dairy/soy based able to flow through a straw. Week three Bariatric pureed food food must be chewed to an apple sauce consistency Week 4/5 soft regular food So check with your doctor and have him give you a list of foods you should eat. I just put the basics in remember you must drink your Water and get your protiens in.

I am on day two so far so good. I drank 3 protien shakes yesterday and a pitcher of crystal light and a pitcher of water. I think you lose the weight by walking to the bathroom lol I just ordered another container of chocolate and one of strawberrys and cream for a change of pace. I have an appt with my surgeon tommorow and will double check what type of protien I should be having the week after. I know it must be clear so I want to find out.

Hi my surgery is scheduled for April 18th and have started my pre-op liquid only diet. I am on day two I was a little antsy yesterday but doing ok. I just ordered some more protien shake powder online from the Vitamin shoppe so I can have a little variety. I am 5'11 and weigh 352. I am hoping to lose at least 100 lbs then it will be gravy for every pound after that. But one step at a time. I would love to be in the 190s if possible. I have an appt with my doctor tomorrow to go over a few last details and to do my pre-op admissions. I have to see my regular doctor on April 5th. How do you put that tracker in on the bottom of your posts.

I was told to bring all of my supplies including my CPAP machine so every hospital may be different. Plus your machine is set to your body. When I travel I bring my machine so it is no big deal to bring it to the hospital.

Give Me Your Best Pre-Op Liquid Diet Tips..
Jafter replied to AngieG0410's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I start my pre op liquid diet tomorrow. I am enjoying today for my last meals for a month. My wife is making me a special dinner. According to my doctor and my size everyone is different i can have a double protien shake 3 times a day and 2 more single size as Snacks. I am 5'11 and 350 lbs. So I am a big man. I am doing the muscle milk light usig Water. so I drink them 2.5 scoops to 12 oz of water. I am going to order some different flavors so I do not get bored of just chocolate. I may also buy some ISO Pure that stuff is pure protien. I have an appointment on Friday to go over the last minute stuff. I have been trying to walk in the morning before work. We also have company this week and I am not sure how long they are staying for. So when they have dinner I am going to go out for a walk so I do not have to hear, see, or smell the food. I will also get out of doing the dishes LOL. It will give me time to get up in the attic and clean up my garage. -
Not Thrilled About 2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet...
Jafter replied to Mab's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We all can do it!!! I have to start my 3 week liquid diet on Tuesday and my surgery is on April 18th. I am 350 so it will be the start of a new (lighter me). Just think you will be able to buy smaller clothes you will look and feel much better. So drinking protien shakes for 2 weeks is worth it. I have heard the key is to have a variety of types of protien shakes so you dont get bored with the same flavor. I am going to the Vitamin shoppe tomorrow to get some more flavors or even check online with Amazon. I have been substituting a lunch or Breakfast with a shake every now and then preparing for this. Good Luck and stay strong. -
I am a week after you on April 18th. Good luck to you and let's shed these pounds as a team.

I went in for my pre op endoscopy on Friday and I told the doctor that I was going to enjoy St. Patricks day this year before my surgery on April 18th. I said since I cant drink beer anymore once I have had the surgery. He said I will be able to drink A BEER. He said if you sip on one beer it will not kill you but you will get buzzed quicker and dont over do it. I was happy that I will not have to give up beer for ever but will not be able to drink what I can now (which will be a good thing LOL). I am 5 weeks out as of tomorrow. Getting a little nervous, a little anxious, and looking forward to getting smaller again. I have to go in the attic and get my old pants out. Luckily I have kept my old dockers and jeans from when I was smaller. I will not have to buy as many new clothes. (Guys are lucky their stuff stays fairly similar). My wife has been dieting for about 6 months now and is down 70 lbs so I am very proud of her. She is doing great she has much better will power than I do.

Good luck Stacey you will do fine. I am having my surgery on April 18th. I have to do 3 weeks of liquids prior to my surgery. So two days you should be fine. I am going to enjoy my last St Patricks Day of drinking Guinness but it will be worth it in the end. I will be much healthier once i change my life and get this weight off. It is not a magic bullet but a tool to help us to become healthy again. We can all do this we just have to stay positive.

I will be having my sleeve surgery on April 18th. I am a bit nervous probably as all of you have been prior to the procedure. I am going into it with an open mind and a realization that this is not a magic pill but a stand about not being unhealthy any more. There is a support group meeting at the conway hospital on 3/20/12. This will be my first meeting with other sleeve patients that have had the surgery in the area. I will post my information soon about my progress. Any advice for a newbie.
