    Metal Taste...

Vitamins are said to cause a metalic taste, as well as the things mentioned above.
  8. Yeah vsginnj, I don't think you should worry. Just stay informed to the research and updates. That way one can catch things early and prevent it while getting the weight off. One must choose the healthiest route for a quality longevity.
  9. Just read a study that shows decreases in fat, lean body mass and bone mass with sleeve gastrectomy. With Ghrelin reduced ~80% with VSG. With increases o Ghrelin via injections it resolved weight loss and lean mass loss but not bone loss and they have found no treatment for the bone loss. I wonder if since ghrelin reduces HGH if HGH injections would help with the loss of lean body mass and bone mass without the fat gain. Anyone 6+ months out been having bone scans? You should likely get a base line to check every year or 2. But I would like to hear from those that have checked into it. Low Testosterone?

As always, correct the Low T then as your sleeve does it's work monitor the levels of the T & E and work your way off the T if possible. YOU WILL FEEL BETTER once you get the level up! Also look into the ventro gluteal injection site. the safest and least pain spot to get injections.
  13. Well it's just something to keep in mind for those in the decision making stage and to watch for those already sleeved.

Will I Ever Be Able To....

I talked to Dr. Lavin in Louisiana and a couple other surgeons in the US a couple of days ago and he/they said the idea of carbonated beverages stretching your sleeve is nonsense and an old wives tale. They said they may make you belch or have reflux but in the quanties you can drink with a sleeve no stretching. I wondered if they said it b/c of the empty calories in soft drinks and beer.

    Bones Breaking

Exercise, Krill or good quality fishoils, Vit D3 , with a balance of zinc and magnesium, a baby asa, and Healthy balanced diet are said to be the best ways to stop and/or reverse blockages. Brocoli has lots of Calicium! Remembering not to over exercise. Men and Women should have both testosterone and estrogen levels checked. Also remember that D3 is not so deficient near the equator and more deficient in Canada = sunlight exposure. With decrease d3 some studies show higher depression and heart disease.

Also read a study the other day stating that the older people get that Calcium supplement causes an increased risk of heart attack and doesn't do alot for osteoporosis.

    Bones Breaking

Proton Pump Inhibitors are to decrease stomach acid production. Prilosec and Nexium are examples.
  20. Yes Vit D3 is a common dificiency. You go out in the Sun without sunscreen with arms, legs, or upper body exposed alittle everyday and you will get good improvements or take a supplement. Many OB patients are prescribed Vit D supplements now. Remember that Vit D is a horomone precursor and fat soluble.
  21. Well It is definitely not my deciding factor. It seems That 7 days is a bit long and with it runs an increased risk of infection. Safety, experience, and self pay price, and closeness to home are my deciding factors. I know what drains are for and hve seen many placed and removed them also. I just wondered. Dr Borland Doesn't use one, Dr Lavin doesn't, Gachassin and Eschete do. I also know that it is surgeon's preference based on their surgical experiences. A drain of that length makes me think they have had leaks or infections and are now using these as a result. However, it could just be they way they where trained. I'm not making accusations. I was just curious and appreciate your answers.
  22. Found a 2 places I am interested in here in the US. Louisana has Dr. Thomas A. Borland which is now my 1st choice. He has some good reviews but on here they seem to be older ones. But his cash price is outstanding. Also Need info on Dr. Philip Gachassin and his partner Dr. Dennis Eschete Jr. They have a reasonable cash price good reviews but they leave a drain in for an entire WEEK? I really want to stay in the US. But If not the Aceves or Kelly will do my procedure. Opinions on the Drain also please. Thanks

    Heard Of The New Wls?

I talked with Dr Lavin today. Sounds like a good guy. He said it is aimed at those 20-50 lbs. and currently but is doing well and time will tell. He did recommend me for a sleeve. Sleeve are priced well at their facility as far as US prices go.
  25. I am planning mine for August and was searching to see if my nervousness and worrying about my decision making process was normal. I know it is, I see it everyday in my job. I think this will help us. Most people can lose weight. However, keeping it off is even harder, I think. I also think this is the tool to help keep it off! Good luck and GOD BLESS! Just Remember the most DANGEROUS part of your Surgery is the car ride to the Center. The STATS prove it!
