  1. I am sleeved I am in my room waiting for the nurse to home so I can do my laps... I am so thirsty I will be glad to have my swallow study later... Pray for me all goes well my doctor is worried that the length and shape of my stomach may cause my new sleeve to fold up on itself once it gets food or anything in it because it is shaped like letter J.He said he thinks I will be fine but it is a concern . I am just getting to the forum because the dilaudid I am on makes me loopy.Anyway as I said please pray I don't need additional operation:)

Kalimomof3 you will be fine and Blessings go Out and Up to Yo, I will be praying for you! Today is the day for me... I am here waiting in the waiting room for my surgery... It's at 1015. I had to be here for all the prelims. Will keep everyone updated. Ready to start my new Journey.;-)

  2. Ok' date=' I have BCBS Federal so it's really a good insurance to have. It requires 3 months diet with NUT BMI with 35-40 with comorbidities or BMI over 40. My BMI is over 40 and I have a month and a half to go on the NUT thing. My problem is they also have to submit a two year history from my regular doctor showing a BMI OVER 40 I'm one of those people who bounce all over the place and lose and gain weight constantly. Last December I was 180 now I'm 250. I don't know if I was over 40 during the last two years when I went to doctor. I am waiting on my records from my PCP. Anyone else experience this? Trouble with the two year history? How strict is the insurance company?[/quote']

Hey Jessica BCBS is wonderful!!! I have BCBS Federal and I had to go through the Nut visits , 2 year history and I wasn't over 40 BMI during those 2 years... I am a revision and my weight was up and down for 2 years....I went to my PCP at least once per year and that's what they are looking for- how much did you weigh? Well after my last NUT visit my paper work was turned in on a Wednesday and I received the call that I was approved on Friday. They are not strict at all.

  3. Hey SugarTee you can find them at The Vitamin Shoppe' date=' if you don't have one in your area you can order online and it's free shipping for purchases over 25. If you like Oreo type Cookies you have to try the Syntax nectar Cookies and Cream - mixed with skim milk- could not believe it was a Protein shake.[/quote']

Thanks Leleboo, I will go tomorrow for sure. The only thing is I don't like milk( no kind)... Is it good with water...:-/

  4. Hey -

I'm a major lurker around these parts' date=' but wanted to share with the *world* that I finally got my approval!

It was kind of a weird situation - -I was originally scheduled for 10/18, but the insurance company put a hold on my case after deciding that I needed another psychiatric evaluation. I had it done and the new approval came through on 10/18, but of course I missed my date. So they pushed me back until 11/8.

I'm to lose 10 lbs by then. I go in for pre-op registration on 11/7.

    I AM THRILLED!

My lesson to share for all is to keep fighting. If the insurance company says NO, then please keep fighting. Find other documentation or justification to force them to approve you. Go above and beyond. Call multiple times and ask questions, get the name and reference number of the phone call. Keep your notes. The insurance company is there to work for you. Sometimes you have to make them do it.

    Good luck![/quote']

Congrats!!! I am scheduled for the 8th of November too.

  5. I started my liquid pre-op diet today - and it sucks! the shakes are making me gag. 13 more days will be hell. I'd rather not eat a thing. How do people do nothing but shakes and Water for 14 days.

    Hey Dinnh,

The first day is the worst... You will get use to it. Believe me I know where you are coming from, headaches and all, I didn't think I was going to make it past the first day but I did and I am on my fourth day...but I can have a fat free lunch(lean meat, fresh veggies). Just stay focused on the New Journey and how much this short term inconvenience is going to help you live Longer!!! Hang in there and keep your Eye on the Prize(a new You);-)

  6. CONGRATS SUGAR TEE I am with you being a slave to that band. 7. Hello All' date=' I am from Ohio and was sleeved May 2012 and doing very well, I am 53 year old. My starting weight was 248 and I now 175 and my goal weight is 155.My weight is good 75 total and I have 20 more to go

I havent had much hair lost, Thanking God!! . I use coconut oil, vegetable gylcerine, black castor oil all mixed in Water on hair, I have curly hair and decided when I had surgery to go natural and I spray on 1-2 times a day and I believe it stoped hair lost, I found this on YOU TUBE.

I am able to eat whatever I like just very little. My mind is always hungry but I know the difference now, if I over eat I become very sick like SHARP gas pains in stomach and in my back and last up to 1 hour or longer it just depends. I try not to get like that because it is very painful. I work out 4x a week and enjoy it for the first time in my life. I wish nothing but God's Blessing in our journey in weight loss.[/quote']

Wow, Congrats and thanks for the info...

  9. I'm in Grand Prairie too! It is going great!! The first day of recovery was uncomfortable but it has gotten much better and easier as the days pass. I'm sure you've heard about the importance of walking ... It is so true. I'm convinced me walking daily (often several times a day) has helped my physical recovery. Yesterday I walked 3 miles' date=' I was exhausted and had to rest for about 30 min but I did it!

In terms of RTD Protein Drink, stay away in the beginning. First, majority of them are a blended whey Protein vs. whey protein isolate. This means that you don't really know how much real protein you are actually getting. So if the label says 20g protein and it is a protein blend, you don't know how much of the 20g is real protein. We need whey protein isolate yo ensure we are getting the minimum of 60g protein daily. Second, they tend to taste good only when they are very cold and believe it or not, you may or may not be able to tolerate too cold drinks post surgery (especially right after).

So with all that said, I strongly suggest trying a number of different whey protein isolate powders. Do you like more juices or milkshake type of drinks? Also what flavors do you tend to like, vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, etc? Keep in mind that your taste buds will likely change, especially if you are a sweet eater. I can definitely make some recommendations based on what I've tried and what I have heard from others.

You can also make several different types of Protein Shakes by adding in any of the following: unsweetened almond milk, SF flavored syrups, SF pudding, SF cool whip, yogurt (Greek or Kroger carb master), SF Jello, crystal light. There are some other mix ins but I can't think of them right now.

Give me an idea of what you currently like and I can make some suggestions for you. Also are you taking Vitamins? [/quote']

Ok Jazzeeja I went and bought some Whey Protein Powder from Walmart. I like chocolate but I went on and bought the vanilla...this way I can add bananas. I don't like milk (no kind) so the coordinator told me about this one. I like milk shake type drinks. I am a sweet eater.

  10. Hello Ladies' date=' congrats to all the newly sleeved, and the up and comers. My date was, Sep 4th 2012 in Texas......... My S.W was 359 my date of surg was 331 and today I'm 272 and feeling blessed. The lifestyle change was at first a lil rough, but after a few trial and errors, I found what works for me. So with that said l say.....keep your head up, stay prayed up, give the carbs up, and keep your cardio up.[/quote']

Thank you MiistaMunk!!! Looking forward to the Journey.

  12. I was just approved by my insurance company for surgery on November 7th -- I am excited' date=' nervous, thrilled..... I did all the medical necessities -- cardiology, pulmonology, psychiatry, gynecology, gastroenterology -- I don't have any major health issues but know that as I continue to get older the health issues will come. This is a great group to follow and excited to be on this journey with all of you!![/quote']

Congrats!!! You will be getting sleeved a day before me...we will be enjoying this journey together.

  13. Hey...Another November Sleeve Sister! Welcome Sugar Tee. How are you feeling leading up to your surgery date? Me: Nervous as hell. I just found out I have to travel the week of my surgery' date=' so I will literally be running from the airport to the hospital. My mother suggested I reschedule. I said hell to the naw I'm am NOT rescheduling lol[/quote']

I am a little anxious, but I am really looking forward to surgery. As far as traveling, everything happens for a reason...you may be traveling to get your mind off of the surgery. No, don't reschedule go ahead with the plan!!! We have to keep in touch and root each other on to the Losers Bench and then to Onederland!!! Be Blessed my sister!!! Looking Forward to My New Journey!!!

  14. hello fellow sleevers....guess what???yup ill be getting my sleeve on nov 8th' date=' im so excited and nervous of course. anyone else getting sleeved on the 8th also? i really hope this surgery works well for me and that i'll be a success story like all of you. I'm so thankful to have this forum of people that understand and dont think im crazy or say things like you dont need surgery because your "not that fat"..lol how many of us have heard that..yes im alittle lower on the bmi than most but i have a few , yes a few co morbidities and my pcp totally thinks i need the surgery from a medical standpoint which is why im doing it...my mom grabbed my stomach and said "uh you need to go put your Spanx on before you leave" then later that night she said "your not that fat why do you need surgery"..ughhh she can really piss me off..so anyone about to be sleeved come on here and tell me your story and what is going thru your mind and the emotion you feel...just tell me everything ...[/quote']
