  1. I had 0.5cc put in Wednesday and it was just too much. It takes me an hour to choke down yogurt. I assume the doctor knows best about how much to take out, but as I'm private pay for my visits, I don't want her to take out too much. I have to say though, I'd much rather have all 0.5 out and go back to where I was than be stuck feeling like this!! I can't imagine why people would go around feeling like this on purpose. Anyway, not that I can eat much anyway, but I assume I have to be Clear liquids the day of an unfill too?

Need to get an unfill tomorrow

They took out 0.25 cc and I feel much better! I say to anyone out there, if you are worried you're too tight, go get some taken out rather than suffer!

    Today

Ooh, I love my Ninja too! It works so well for the protein shakes and is great for blending soups and stuff.
  12. I had 3cc in my band post-op. What my surgeon told me was she puts saline in to make sure nothing is leaking, and leaves it in there, generally 2-3cc. At the first fill, they take out everything to measure how much is in there and then add it back with the new extra amount. I'm curious now, does everyone do a barium swallow post-op? I'm wondering if maybe that's taking extra precaution because there is some fluid in the band already?

    Sit Ups

Maybe try plank positions. Those force you to hold your ab muscles without as much stretching and squishing as sit ups. The yoga suggestion is great and there may be a few pilates positions that might work.

    I'm Making Lists. . .

Sorry, I'm going to veer off topic for just a second - we're not supposed to chew gum? I've never heard this.
  15. I had surgery on a Thursday and returned to work for a half day the following Friday (a week and a day). My job is a lot of walking back and forth and standing. I didn't feel bad pain-wise, but I had NO energy. That was the hardest to deal with, I can't imagine going back after just the weekend.
  16. I was starving probably from about day four until about 3 weeks out. Just angry hungry. I was desperate for my first fill because I couldn't imagine having any success feeling that way all the time. Then suddenly, I wasn't so hungry anymore. I still haven't had my first fill, I don't know if my stomach healed to a better point, but now my hunger is much more manageable. I was very faithful following the post-op diet. Hopefully this will happen for you, but it's probably nothing YOU are doing wrong.

    Minimum Calories?

I have heard many times before in my pre-band diet life that you shouldn't eat under 1200 calories a day because it throws your body into "starvation" mode and you start storing all your calories. Now, I've seen a lot people on here eating quite a bit less, and most days I eat a lot less. However, I haven't really lost weight in the past few weeks. Should I be trying to get in more calories? I get all my protein in.

    Minimum Calories?

I am tracking calories basically as a side effect from tracking my protein. I'm usually around 800 calories, high days may be around 1000. I feel pretty satisfied most of the time and usually I'm not tempted to eat morr. I wasn't too concerned about what I was taking in until I noticed I wasn't losing weight.
  19. I could actually sleep on my stomach sooner than I could sleep on my left side (port side). I could sleep on my stomach about 3 days out and then my left side about 8 days. I was fine sleeping the first three nights and then really uncomfortable nights 4-7, so much so that I was getting up in the middle of the night to sleep in the recliner. Not sure why.

    Port Question

Yeah, I only thought I sort of felt it the first week or two after surgery, but now I can definitely feel it. I agree, I think it's hidden by swelling at first.

  22. Did you tell everyone that you were having surgery and what it was for? My surgery is scheduled for June 28th. I haven't told very many people yet, but I'm wondering about what I should say when I get back to work after a week off. On one hand, I can see telling people so they can watch and hopefully encourage if they know what you're going through. On the other hand, the judging, oh the judging! So for those of you out there who have been through it, do you wish you had told more people or fewer? I'm excited, but starting to get nervous!

    Hunger After Band!

The hunger is killing me too, and I'm on soft solids. I go from fine to angry, painful hungry in about fifteen minutes. Definitely more angry hungry than I ever got pre-surgery. (of course I was always eating pre-surgery!). I have to keep some kind of food on hand wherever I go (applesauce is easy) because it hurts when I get hungry like that. I can't wait for that first fill, I tell you!
  24. I'm in the soft foods stage and I have no idea what to do with the canned meats besides adding some mayo. I can also eat canned or very mushy vegetables. I'm thinking soups, but I'd appreciate any other ideas.
  25. I'm with you on the airplane seat, bornready. I was sick of being scared every time I flew that someone would demand is buy two seats. I was also sick of asking for a belt extender and not feeling comfortable with the tray table down. Overall I would say my reason is just that I was tired of not being able to do what I wanted to do, either from being too out of shape or from just being too physically big to fit.
