  1. Call your docs office tomorrow if you feel like your not getting better. Recovery take some time. It took me the better part of 2 days to really keep any liquids down at all.

It takes a few days sweetie. Hope things start to feel better soon.

That is so awesome that you are feeling so good. I am still taking pain meds religiiously and only had trouble getting liquids in the first 24 hours. I am starting to feel better now. Congrats and good luck!
  4. Anxiety and the jitters is normal. All of those issues went right out the window when I was finally banded. The surgery goes very fast and I had a great anesthiologist that listed 20 things more dangerous then the surgery. The first on the list was.....getting into a car. You'll do great!

    Finally banded yesterday

Ugh! That cant be fun. Just thinking if I had my period on top of feeling the way I do? It might make me cry. I too am super, super sore today (mostly by port area). I was banded Thursday.

The gas x helps but getting up to walk feels like it works faster.

    Finally banded yesterday

I was banded on Thurs and I am still very sore. I am religiously taking the pain meds as they are giving me some pain relief. Walking does help as well. I am feeling a "little" better each day but I am still pretty sore. Rest, rest, rest....good luck!

    Emotional after surgery?

I'm not so much emotional as I am nervous and anxious with the pain, lack of sleep, healing slowly. I am sure the journey will bring me to an emotional basket case state at some point as well. We are mourning our old habits...as bad as they were for us...they still provided some sort of comfort and safety. Change is hard and scary.....but I know it will be worth it.
  10. I was banded yesterday at 10am. Everything went fine and was home by 8pm. I was having trouble getting control of my pain and was quite nauseous most of the day. They got me up to walk right away and that really did seem to help the gas pressure in my chest and back. Slept on a recliner and got up every few hours to walk and get more Water. I have only been able to get down a total of 3 oz of apple juice and maybe 3 oz of water in the last 12 hours. Hunger is not an issue at this point! It's quite the opposite. I will try and open a Protein shake today and sip on that for a few. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for all the well wishes! It is still a bit surreal that I finally have the LB. It has always been a destination for me and so to finally have it is very overwhelming!

    Protein shake flavorings and recipes?

How are you feeling 3 days out? I had mine done yesterday and I am feeling pretty beat up! But happy~
  12. Drink lots and lots of water, crystal light, etc. Don't go anywhere without having a bottle of water with you. Good luck!
  13. Ditto for me. Way more sore in my port area today...gas seems to be moving but can feel it settle in my back and chest too. I doubt I am getting enough liquids in. Drank maybe a 1/2 cup of Water and 1/2 cup of apple juice. Sipping on chicken broth right now. I am taking my pain killers religiously. Congrats on your LB.
  14. I have kicked around having this surgery for years.......I made the decision last March...visited my surgeon.....completed my 6 months monitoring.....got cleared by a cardiologist and psychiatrist....received approval from my insurance company.......was supposed to have surgery in September and due to unforseen costs I had to pay upfront...I had to postone the surgery after I already completed a 2 week liquid diet and lost 11 pounds. Revisited the surgeons office again in Jan...resubmitted the packagage to insurance.....saved up the upfront costs I didn't know about back in September.......completed another 2 week liquid diet...lost another 11 pounds and now tomorrow is the day! Surgery Day! Finally! I have put my heart, soul, committment, desire, dedication, emotion, and money into having this surgery tomorrow. I have read, read, read, and then read some more about the highs, the lows, the agonies the defeats.....the success stories and the stuck stories! I have earned my right to have the surgery! I am as ready as I will ever be! Bring it on!

    Surgery Dates!

Thanks everyone! Things went pretty well. I finally understand the "gas" issues that accompanies the pain! All the things that people said to do helped...i.e., walked, Gas-x, etc. I was also very naseuous yesterday but I have been taking meds for that too. I slept in a recliner last night. Dosed on and off there and now I am up again to get my walk in. I am so glad to have finally been banded. I am not hungry, at all. Just the opposite.....I am only able to get down just sips of Water and apple juice. Today I will take a few sips of a Protein shake....this may help my naseau as well. Thanks for all the well wishes!

    tomorrow is the day

You are gonna do great! I understand having the jitters. My surgery is scheduled for Thursday and I have noticed that I have to stay really close to these boards as they ease my mind and calm my jitters. Good luck!

    Upset for the first time...

I don't want to shout it from the rooftops either however, I have to remember that although my hubby is super supportive, this changes his life too. He has fears of the surgery going well, anxious about what he is eating in front of me, etc. He is anxious too....for me to have forbid him to tell anyone was too much of a burden for him. I tell who I tell...when I tell it (if at all). But I will also remember that my family is along for this ride too. Good luck...pretty-faced girl.

    Pre-Operation

These "boards" are very helpful.. The people who have went before us are very smart and knowledgeable. Good luck.

    Long term concerns

There are always risks and issues that can arise. For me.....the rewards so far outweight those concerns that I really don't think that far ahead. As long as I follow the rules.....I have to believe those issues are slim. But to add another example: I have a friend who had a boob job, 12-15 years later she needs to replace them. We are all told this up front.....it can happen...but don't get anxious about it.
