    Gum?

My doc never mentioned a NO GUM policy. The best thing is to call the office and ask.

    Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!

Congrats! You will be fine. Take some deep breaths and before you know...it will be over. See ya on the other side
  3. I understand that they do not want you drinking from a straw because of extra air that can be taken in and could possibly stretch the pouch... I have been on liquids..well....like forever.....and I am thinking that a straw is just an efficient way to take in Protein shakes and smoothies...and even Soups. Is this a forever thing? Forever stay away from straws?

    Bye Bye Plus Size!

Incredible!! What size did you start out at and what size are you now? To shop in the normal size section is gonna be an amazing goal for me too!

    Netball after lapband

Certainly that is up to your doctor but I play softball and they advised to take 4 to 6 weeks off to ensure my port stitches were healed and then they would be less likely to pop during sports. Have fun.

    Did anyone else experience

I think for me, it was the port that has been attached to the muscle that felt like it was weighing my belly down. The good news is...after most of the gas and bloating subsided, and the port area was less tender....that feeling went away. Give it some time.

    Overnight stay?

They gave me the option actually. I could go home when my pain was tolerated or I could stay the night. I opted for going home but looking back on it.....I really should have just stayed the nght and got the goods meds.
  8. I love your honest post! I agree.......I have always been the "big girl" in the family. It was my identity....it was comfortable....it was who I am/was. I am also keenly aware that I will still be me, still be who I am but better. Just better. Good luck with your journey!

    Is this normal?!

I lost a pound a day on my pre-op diet (all shakes and liquids). After surgery.....it slowed way down. I had scale shock as well. The point is.....it is still going down. Our body is healing.....and yes, living off very little calories. Once I phased into Full Liquids (where I could have a little yogurt and runny oatmeal...creamy soups) it started to move a little again. But just a little. We have to remember...this is a marathon...not a race. Our bodies are in "freak out" mode right now. We have to be patient. I hope you feel better today!

    How does it feel

I was banded on the same day and am pretty sure I still have gas hanging out in my stomach cavity that is trying to get out. I have this dull tightness in my chest and sometimes my shoulder blades. Have you been doing any walking? This seems to help me some.

    5.5 months...ONEDERLAND!!!!!

I CANNOT wait to see that on my scale!! I got goose bumps for you. Honestly.....it has been maybe 20 years since I have been under 200. What an amazing accomplishment!

    Let's Talk Straws....

It's crazy the difference of opinions on lots of these issues. I guess I am just "cranky" about the straw thing. All these liquids I am drinking and a straw just seems more efficient. Blech~

    179 and going down

This is fantastic!! I am not sure I would have had the courage or wisdom to make this decision so young.....but I am in awe of your determination and success! Congratulations!

    Valentine's Day

I am 7 days post op and my body has finally kicked in to hunger mode (I was NOT hungry after surgery-trouble even getting liquids in). I understand your frustration. I just moved from Clear Liquids to FULL liquids and I was a happy girl today! I am really looking forward to puree's next week. I have my recipes all laid out. For me it really has been mind over matter...and one day at a time! xoxoxox---

    The psych test

For me it was alot of family history like; do you have mental illness in your family, history of depression, any other disorders. Maybe we discussed a little about eating disorders and the emotional hold food has on us, etc. etc. But it wasn't much more than that! It'll be fine....just tell the truth. I would think that if one had some serious mental disorders that someone may not recommend you for surgery....but I think they would have to be quite serious...

The pre-op diet is extremely hard...but your attitude is great. Each day I said the same thing.......I have come this far.....no turning back now. Noone said it wold be easy...just worth it. Hang in there!
