  1. I will ask my doctor about the popcicles. But from what I understand I can only have the shakes as calorie containing "food". But if I could have sf Popsicles that would be great. And I have to mix the shakes with water... Bleckkk! Lol oh well, it's so worth it!
  2. Most of my family and a few close friends know. I have a feeling if I tell people I'm not close to they will judge. And I have this fear that people will say "oh, you only the weight because you got the band." it's still hat work and we still have to do everything anyone else would! but it's completely up to you who you tell! Some people just don't understand.
  3. Hope everything went well! Curious to know how you are feeling, my surgery is the first week of July! And I'm nervous!
  4. So I start my liquid pre opt diet on monday! It's 3-5 protine shakes a day and water and crystal lite. They said I could have a small piece of plain baked chicken breast if I REALLY need it, but that's only if it gets bad. Anyways, my question is.... What kind of things did you guys do to keep your mind off cheating!
  5. Ok, thanks everyone! I guess I will ask him at my pre opt visit!
  6. I've taken it twice. For me it worked really well and gave me the energy to actually work out. I lost 35 to 40 pounds each time... But gained it back plus some when I stoped taking it. It works while you are taking it... But it'd hard to keep it off without it.
  7. Anyone from San Antonio? I'm getting my lap band first week of July I believe. Im excited. I'm getting it done at the nix by Dr. Wright. Anyone else have him? I haven't met him yet. I'm deffinatly look for a support group, any good ones? I went through true results, I think they have one but I'm not sure.
  8. Do they put fluid in the band during surgery? Or do you go for the fill 6 weeks later? Or both...? Just confused.
  9. That sounds harder then what I have to do! 2 weeks of only shakes and crystal lite.
  10. If you like margaritas, skinny girl cocktails has a good one. It's got like 600 calories in the whole bottle (but don't drink the whole bottle in one night! Lol). She has a bunch of other things like sangria and a few wines. But bars probably don't have it, so if you are going to a house party or something you can bring your own!
  11. Mine seems simple... But I want to get married! I've been engaged for almost 4 years. It's all because of my weight, I want to look back at the photos and like them, and me! I hate having my picture taken now! I also want to go horse back ridding! And just basic things, like walk and not get out of breath, be able to go to any store and find clothes!
  12. Are you going through insurance? If not then I don't see why they can't work with you. If you are going through insurance it would just depend in how difficult they want to be.
  13. I think to even get the lap band you have to have a BMI or atleast 35. I could be wrong, but I don't think the chances are very high unless you have some weight related medical issue.
  14. It will go by fast! Seems like I went to my first visit weeks ago! But it's been almost 5 months. And I'm getting banded at the end of this month! Good luck!
  15. I think since you are self pay it will got pretty fast. But make sure you get as much info as you can first. I can't think of any questions that havent already be stated. But I went through insurance so I had lots of hoops to jump through, and surgery is at the end of this month! good luck!
  16. I live in San Antonio and am getting bannded a the end of the month! At the nix also! People can be mean, and there are people in my family that dont agree with what I'm doing, they think it's the "easy" way out. You can email me if you want, I can't really help you with the band part yet, but I can be an understanding person that know what you are going through (or will soon). My email is laceyismynameo@gmail.com
  17. I'm allowed 3-5 protine shakes a day. And crystal lite. They said if I am in real need of actual food and can have 3oz of plain baked chicken breast, but that should happen seldomly.
  18. Thanks ladies! I'm not letting them get to me! I'm excited and motivated! A little scared, but I know it will be worth it in the long run!
  19. I'm getting my band in July, but I have heard people talking out PBIng and sliming. I'm not exactly sure what it is. Is it when the food gets stuck, or comes back up? What does it feel like, and what do you do when it happens? Seems scary!
  20. Maybe they were calculating the calories your body burns naturally through everyday activities and sustaining life?
  21. So my insurance approved me for the lap band! So happy I could cry! Dont have an exact date of surgery yet but starting my pre opt diet Monday ( protine shakes 3-5 a day for 2 weeks). I'm worried that I won't be able to make it through! I'm scared for the surgery, and for my first fill! Anyways I was just wondering have everyone else is dealing with their band and if they have had any negative reactions? I had a little from people that think I'm taking the "easy" way out. Thanks everyone!
  22. One of the people I talked to said some people dont lose any weight during the pre opt diet. What liquids are you taking, are they high in calories? I have to do a protine shake pre opt diet for 2 weeks. Nothing but that and any calorie free drinks. Good luck!
  23. If I don't get banded by the end of June it will be early July! I'm excited, and scared! I envy those that get to do the 2 weeks Adkins diet, I have to do 2 weeks of ONLY protine shakes (3-5 a day). Anyone else have to do that? It seems so Impossible!
