When Can We Drink Coffee Again?

I like seeing all the creative ways everyone is doing with their coffee. I try for the most part to drink decaf which I have been since about one month post-op, I think. I drink regular every now and then when I feel I need to 'wake up' more in the morning. Since I like the taste of mochas I had been mixing 'Proti Diet' brand hot cocoa mix with my coffee and just recently tried the 'Premier Nutrition' brand ready to drink protein chocolate drink to mix in with my coffee. I heat up 1/2 the container in a coffee glass, add my coffee and 1 Stevia packet. Not too bad.

    Sleeve & Weight Watchers

MyFitnessPal.com seems to work for me. I adjusted my calorie settings to where I know it will work for me. Mine are currently set at 900 and MFP will tell you that it's too low because it doesn't know that I've had weight loss surgery. I feel it's a good tool to use, and plus it's free. Use whatever tool works for you. I personally feel it helps and keeps me motivated to stay on track. Feel free to add me if you're on there. I'm 'specialemy'.

    Man Vs Food

I used to love that show too. Now it only makes me wonder what Adam Richman's cholesterol levels are like, almost makes me feel sorry for him in a way...

Hi pinktink -- You ARE NOT ALONE! People weave in and out of our lives, but you love yourself first! Here's to you on being stronger, smarter, and already soooo much lighter ...

    Cravings

I was going to say 'head hunger' as well. It sounds like you are 'craving' savory foods. The taste of chicken broth sort of did the trick for me post-op. I would take the chicken paste (I forget the brand name) and add hot water to the salty level I wanted so I had a good strong taste of it. Sounds strange, but it seemed to work for me.
  8. munching on some lunch -- today it's a hard boiled egg with mustard and some cubed watermelon =)

    Food Mourning

Hi Birdy18...After reading this I can understand your anguish and disappointment on not having a 'last hurrah meal'. After being home from surgery it was somewhat hard for me to watch others eating the very foods that I loved to eat, especially at family get togethers where they are always based around food. As soon as I was able to eat/chew on protein I got my hands on what I thought I felt I was missing out on, but you know, it wasn't as fabulous as I thought it was going to be. That's just my experience with it, but still have 'head hunger' issues that I deal with from time to time. Hope you're coping with it as best you can...

    Im I Really Ready?

Thanks for sharing your excitement/nervousness...all totally normal as I was the same in the weeks before surgery. I hope you recover well since I see you have a trip planned soon after your surgery. Everyone's experience is different, but I'm sure you will get to know how your body responds to the new way of eating so I can't really address your question on how your body will know to stop losing weight. Hope you have a speedy recovery =)

    Pre-Op Weight Lose

Congrats on doing your pre-op weight loss goal! After entering the bariatric program where I was it took me 7 months to get into the mind set of 'wanting' to really drop the initial weight. Wishing you a speedy recovery from surgery, and of course, much success!
  14. is feeling ecstatic over uploading a new pic =) ... I never thought it would make me that happy. Still a long way to go, but am so grateful that my knees don't hurt anymore!

Day Two Of Pre-Op Diet - And Feeling Miserable :(

I know how you feel. I hated doing the the pre-op diet too, at day one. I was frustrated, hungry, and started to switch to decaf coffee, which led to the next several days of headaches due to the caffeine withdrawal I was having. It is hard and frustrating, and I gave up several times thinking it may not be worth it. I kept talking with WLS surgery folks who have had it, there's at least one in my office, and the talks helped a lot. It helped greatly to log into 'Myfitnesspal.com' and keep a food diary. The conscious effort helped keep me in focus and concentrate on keeping my eye on the prize. There were plenty of over eating days, but you let that go and start over again. I wish you the best and hope you'll be able to get there.
  16. found something delicious at Trader Joe's yesterday...Kale & Spinach Greek Yogurt Dip, absolutely delicious!

  17. So glad that I am not the only one getting all these questions aimed at me, especially during my lunch break at work when I'm in the kitchen trying to hurry up and put my lunch together before anyone sees me. I lack in the 'canned response' area and end up explaining myself everytime. It's been a little tiring, but these interactions actually help me stay even more motivated to keep on track. More power to the sleevers!
  18. Congrats 'Gonnabeslim1day'! You will be well on your way!
  19. Seeing 312 lbs on my home scale was it for me. The number depressed me, I was over 300 lbs and really knew then why I was tired all the time. I hated to wear socks or shoes with laces...because I couldn't bend over to put them on so I would wear flats all the time, easy on, easy off. I'm now 104 lbs down and so very grateful that I had the surgery. Much success to you on your journey down!
  20. is currently munching on seasoned roasted Korean seaweed...yum!

    3 Days Post Op

Congrats on your surgery as well! Looks like you are doing very well for 3 days post-op...wishing you a speedy recovery!
  22. For me it's croutons...I eat these instead of crackers. I have to make a conscious effort to stop eating them before I start to feel full, otherwise it would be too late
  23. Keep on keeping on...we are all in this together! I for one am glad that I am drinking a little more water each day which has been difficult for me to do, even at 3+ months out...

  24. For the puree stage I didn't do pureed protein in the blender, the thought of it grossed me out too. I had Greek yogurt, no sugar added apple sauce, sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicles, baby food in those little jars, etc...

    Vitamin Recommendation?

I currently chew on 'Bariatric Fusion' Vitamins, and that has 7.5mg of Iron per tablet. It's not a gummy, but chewable tablets that taste pretty all right to me. One tablet is chewed 3 times daily so I guess you would be getting 22.5mg of Iron. You can look at the nutrition here: http://www.bariatric...CFUcHRQodzg9OkA. Just click on the 'Nutrition Facts' tab below the picture. It doesn't provide directions for VSG on this website, but it states it on the bottle directly as "Sleeve Gastrectomy: Chew 1 tablet, 3x daily" Hope you find a brand for your needs...
