    Congratulations!
  2. That is a great success, congrats!
  3. Congrats!!! ... and thanks for sharing =)
  4. I used to love that show too. Now it only makes me wonder what Adam Richman's cholesterol levels are like, almost makes me feel sorry for him in a way...
  5. Hi pinktink -- You ARE NOT ALONE! People weave in and out of our lives, but you love yourself first! Here's to you on being stronger, smarter, and already soooo much lighter ...
  6. I was going to say 'head hunger' as well. It sounds like you are 'craving' savory foods. The taste of chicken broth sort of did the trick for me post-op. I would take the chicken paste (I forget the brand name) and add hot water to the salty level I wanted so I had a good strong taste of it. Sounds strange, but it seemed to work for me.
  7. nonfat yogurt (whatever brand, flavor you like) freezes really well and you can eat them as popsicles if you'd like to try that...
  8. Just wait until your underwear turns into parachutes! Sounds like you are well on your way to getting there

Hi Birdy18...After reading this I can understand your anguish and disappointment on not having a 'last hurrah meal'. After being home from surgery it was somewhat hard for me to watch others eating the very foods that I loved to eat, especially at family get togethers where they are always based around food. As soon as I was able to eat/chew on protein I got my hands on what I thought I felt I was missing out on, but you know, it wasn't as fabulous as I thought it was going to be. That's just my experience with it, but still have 'head hunger' issues that I deal with from time to time. Hope you're coping with it as best you can...

Thanks for sharing your excitement/nervousness...all totally normal as I was the same in the weeks before surgery. I hope you recover well since I see you have a trip planned soon after your surgery. Everyone's experience is different, but I'm sure you will get to know how your body responds to the new way of eating so I can't really address your question on how your body will know to stop losing weight. Hope you have a speedy recovery =)
  11. Congrats on doing your pre-op weight loss goal! After entering the bariatric program where I was it took me 7 months to get into the mind set of 'wanting' to really drop the initial weight. Wishing you a speedy recovery from surgery, and of course, much success!
  12. I know how you feel. I hated doing the the pre-op diet too, at day one. I was frustrated, hungry, and started to switch to decaf coffee, which led to the next several days of headaches due to the caffeine withdrawal I was having. It is hard and frustrating, and I gave up several times thinking it may not be worth it. I kept talking with WLS surgery folks who have had it, there's at least one in my office, and the talks helped a lot. It helped greatly to log into 'Myfitnesspal.com' and keep a food diary. The conscious effort helped keep me in focus and concentrate on keeping my eye on the prize. There were plenty of over eating days, but you let that go and start over again. I wish you the best and hope you'll be able to get there.
  13. So glad that I am not the only one getting all these questions aimed at me, especially during my lunch break at work when I'm in the kitchen trying to hurry up and put my lunch together before anyone sees me. I lack in the 'canned response' area and end up explaining myself everytime. It's been a little tiring, but these interactions actually help me stay even more motivated to keep on track. More power to the sleevers!
  14. Congrats on your surgery as well! Looks like you are doing very well for 3 days post-op...wishing you a speedy recovery!
  15. For me it's croutons...I eat these instead of crackers. I have to make a conscious effort to stop eating them before I start to feel full, otherwise it would be too late
  16. For the puree stage I didn't do pureed protein in the blender, the thought of it grossed me out too. I had Greek yogurt, no sugar added apple sauce, sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicles, baby food in those little jars, etc...
  17. I currently chew on 'Bariatric Fusion' Vitamins, and that has 7.5mg of Iron per tablet. It's not a gummy, but chewable tablets that taste pretty all right to me. One tablet is chewed 3 times daily so I guess you would be getting 22.5mg of Iron. You can look at the nutrition here:
  18. At what stage are you in? During stage 2 I pureed watermelon in the blender so I could have some...
  19. Yes =) ... a little every once in a while, I'm 3+ months out...
  20. I have the same answer as Nina...you'll be encouraged to lose. I had mine done through Kaiser as well and my own surgeon did not set a surgery date for me until I lost at least 30 lbs. He also told me that I should not gain any of those pounds back or they will cancel my surgery. The folks in the program couldn't stress enough how important it was for patients to be compliant before surgery. Although after reading 'Webtrekker's' answer above I guess it will depend on your own surgeon. Hope you'll do great!

Congratulations, and wishing you a speedy recovery as well! The waiting time before surgery was probably the worst for me, all that anticipation, but you will be asleep & awake again before you know it =)
  22. Congratulations Mitch...sounds like you are doing very well!
  23. Your father-in-law's 70th birthday will seem to be a joyous ocassion and no doubt everyone will see how much you've transformed, and you'll receive compliments. I think if I was in the same situation I would probably just say 'thank you'. If anyone directly asks about how you went about your weight loss, then I would just answer truthfully, or just say you could share with them 'later' in the evening when you're able to have a more initmate conversation. Good luck, but more importantly, enjoy celebrating the birthday with your husband.
  24. I agree with those that replied to your question so far. If you'd like, buy individual packets of a few brands to find out which you like. Your taste may change post-op, but at least you might not be stuck with a whole tub of of a flavor you might not like. In the beginning I bought 2 big containers and thought it wasn't half bad in taste. Post-op I thought they were unbearable, and I was just able to give them away to someone else just this past Sunday. I am 3+ months out and I personally love 'Proti Diet' brand high Protein hot cocoa drink mix that I ordered through BariatricChoice.com. I add this to my decaf coffee almost every morning simply because I used to love mochas, and still do, just with lower sugar content. For the rest of my day I get my protein from food.
