    TJ Bash Announcement

The dates are firmly set to be August 25, 26 & 27th in Tijuana, Mexico at the Lucerna Hotel. So this might be a great time for those of you flying to find your tickets. The early registration fee will be $25.00; this is for dinner both Friday and Saturday night and entertainment. The hotel rooms will be no more than $95 per night. At this time the hotel is NOT ready to accept reservations and registration isn't quite ready yet but we wanted to let people know that things are getting ready so they can start making their plans & booking their flights. Hope to see you there! For more information & updates join the Bash Group at: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bandster_Bash_2006/

    TJ Bash Announcement

Just figured I would post an update for those of you that are planning on attending the bash in TJ this August: The bandster bash website is now ready for review and registration! You can either register and pay through paypal or you can register by email and pay by US mail. Please go to: www.kuribandsterbash.com Don't forget when reserving your room at the Lucerna Hotel to mention "Dr. Kuri's Bandster Bash" for a special discount rate: http://www.hotel-lucerna.com.mx/english/tijuana/index.html The bandster bash yahoo group is also ready to start signing up for activities, room-mates and ride-sharing. Go to: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Bandster_Bash_2006/ Once you are on the yahoo group, go to the database section (click icon on the left hand side) and you will find the ride-share database, the Activity sign-up database and the room-mate finder database. For those who have attended previous bashes, we know how much fun and motivational they are. Dr. Kuri and Mrs. Kuri know how to throw a great celebration! Hope to see you there!

Are you sure none of you are feeling...

I can't speak for anyone else but ever single one of my fills have always TIGHTENED up for me about two weeks after a fill. If you are getting stuck on food now then I highly suggest you not get another fill or if you do only have your doc "tweak" it a little bit.

I am really ticked off!and ripped off!!!

I talked to Don Mills from Inamed when he was in Seattle in Feburary about the Gastric Balloon. He says it is VERY dangerous unless you live REALLY close to your doctor. To the OP do you have a link to your whole story on what happened to you? There are a lot of reasons for erosions and I am not clear how your erosion is Dr. Ortiz's fault. Was your band improperly placed? or was it directly linked to a port infection? or just bad luck? I am NOT arguing with you in any way but rather I am asking questions so I can learn more. To have an erosion is my biggest fear. My port broke and in the two months I was unrestricted before I got it fixed I gained 18 pounds. Best wishes to you and I hope someday you can be rebanded. Jamie

    Complications

Not to hyjack this thread or anything but Dr. Kuri uses the new hospital now for his floro and IMHO the new hospital is ABOVE par with anything I have seen in the states. To the OP.... Thank you for sharing your story in a most grown up manner. You did not bash your doctor but instead advised others to do their research. I am glad you are doing better and I wish you well in your continued recovery. Jamie

    TJ Bash Announcement

I am a patient of Dr. Kuri and he holds this bash once a year (this year is the 7th annual) for any and all bandsters regardless of who the person was banded by. There are many on this board who have attended in the past and I figured they would like to know that the dates have been chosen. Thanks for asking...
  10. The only Doc in Mexico that has come close to 5,000 bands is Dr. Rumbaut. Even my own doc is around 2300. Dr. Oritiz (if he counts all the ones he was a proctor with) is probably in the 3000 range. So unless your doctor was Rumbaut then you did not do your research and they lied to you about how many he has done. Bottom line.

What was your post-op diet like?

This is the band manufacturer recommendation: Liquids for 3 to 4 days then to solid food Mary, I have my patient handbook from the manufacturer right here. It very clearly says that weeks 1-4 are for liquid and very soft food then they go on to list examples like Soup (no vegetables), yogurt, milk & Jello. Then they go on to say that weeks 4 to 6 are for thicker foods etc... I don't see anywhere where they recommend solid food after 3 to 4 days... My band book is by Bioentrics (Ihamed)... Do you have a different band? Jamie

    Mexico??

Sue, Nicole is correct. I will find the articles that I have about Dr. Fox. My cousin was going to have Gastric Bypass surgery a few years ago and we did research about Dr. Fox. I don't think he had any band related deaths but as for his overall practice I personally won't contribute to the success of a Doctor that IMHO is very reckless in the care he provides in his other services. I don't have the links readily available on this computer but I will round them up and post them for you hopefully by the weekend. Everyone needs to make their own choice on who to see. I can understand if some people use Dr. Fox and are happy with him and I certainly am not placing judgement on those that do. All I am saying is that for myself I would prefer to see someone else even if it costs me a bit more money.
