I would kill not to have to do a preop diet. My date is on the 9th and I am dying.
-
Thanks everyone. I am at my last clearance dr apt as I type this. After that I just need to wait for approval and get through the two week Pre op Protein Shakes. That is what I am most concerned about as I don't like the taste of the Protein shakes I have tried. Blech!!!!

HI! I have Cigna too...how long after everything was submitted did it take for your approval? Congrats on your surgery date!I have yet to be approved. My surgeon has a person who specifically does insurance approvals and she should be submitting my paperwork for me no later than Tuesday. I have all of my ducks in a row so I am truly praying I don't get denied. I have no reason to be denied. I will keep you posted.

I am praying there are no glitches with Cigna!!!

Oh, and I have totally noticed that my nose has gotten wider and bigger since I have gained so much weight. I wonder if it will shrink as I shrink?
-
NAKED...I don't see it until I look at myself in the mirror in the buff. Then I am like, "who is that fatty staring back at you?" I was smoking hot in college, and I have slowly let myself gain 5-7 lbs a year for the last 15 years and it has added up to a nice apple shaped body. I cannot wait for this surgery to happen so people stop judging this book by its cover.

Such a good question. I want to know the same.

I would think so and I would be aggressive about it but they are really working with me about getting me in for surgery before my fall class starts that I am taking so I don't want to Rick the boat over a few weeks.
-
My program doesn't want to "risk" taking the chance that it's wrong info which frustrates the crap out of me. But I am only 2 1/2 weeks out from 3 months anyway so it's not a big deal.

Yep, 2 nutrition apts, psych eval, exercise physiologist eval, and weekly weight loss apts since the beginning of feb.

Thank you MrzSongbird! I need to call them in the morning. I don't want to get my hopes up!!!

i too am very scared about being able to do the 2 week pre op diet. We are only allowed to choose between 2 kinds of "meal replacement" shakes, and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury smells funky to me, so I will have to go with Bariatric Advantage. How are you doing?
I am not one to start drama either, but I also think that people who have not been through the experiences yet, should not be the ones judging or giving advice. There are plenty of people here to be supportive, so please do not get discouraged by the people who pipe in with opinions and don't know what they are talking about.

I am so nervous that my clearance for surgery is going to take forever with Cigna, and I have a really hard class that starts right around the time that I should be having my surgery! Ugh. I am in month 6 of my weight loss program. I wonder if I should call the insurance person in my surgical office and ask her to call them? I have been through all of my appointments. UGH!!! What should I do?

YES! I had those issues ... but here is something that I found and loved... they should pay me as much as I post on them but Cytosport's ready to drink (RTD) "whey isolate" Protein drinks... they are in 16 oz bottles and have 32 g of whey Protein. I LOVE them - tropical and tangerine flavors (I don't personally like the watermelon). I buy them at Vitamin Shoppe for 3.79 a bottle.
Also many folks like Isopure RTD bottles, but I did NOT. Those are 4.19 a bottle.
Also fyi, I love Vitamin Shoppe! One reason: they will take them back if they are opened w/in 7 days w/your receipt. They can be bought (both of the kinds mentioned) in their refrigerated section.
Additionally, the powerpak protein is good in chocolate. Those I think are $3 and some change for each.
For Butterbean's comment: My dr. suggested taking mirolax whenever I don't go on my own every 2-3 days, as well as acidophilous pearls, which are a priobiotic that helps keep things moving, from my understanding. I also eat a prune or two every couple of days. Hey it helps get that sweet craving out for only 15 cals per prune!
And definitely get that Water in. I hate Water, but like the fruit20 (peach is my fav) and propel (in berry usually) or crystal light in cherry pom... if anyone can use those tips that is!
What is the difference between the Isopure and the Cytosport (taste wise)? I tried the Isopure and found that it has a dry aftertaste. Does the Cytosport?

Did you buy them right from celebratevitamins.com? Vitamins are so expensive, but if they taste good Im all for it!
Yes, I ordered them right from the website. They are also very nice on the phone.

I am so lad I could help. I am not joking when I tell you that I am voluntarily drinking it right now. Yum. And the bet part is, I ordered the wild cherry and not the citrus splash and they are not making me return the citrus splash and are sending me the wild cherry for free. Woo hoo.

I just got an order delivered of the Celebrate Mutlivitamin Drink Mix (includes calcium) and it is delicious. The citrus splash tastes like Tang!!!! I am so excited because I hated the chewable samples that I got.
As a sleeve patient we will have to drink 2 of them per day and it counts towards our Water intake. YAY!!!!!!!
Now if I could only find a Meal Replacement for my two week pre op that doesn't make me want to hurl, I would be a happy camper.

Thanks for all of the advice. I am thinking I may go with the Unjury plan as I will at least be able to eat veggies and yogurt.

Any advice to a very nervous pre-opper on how to mentally get through the pre-op diet? I am required to do 2 weeks of Meal Replacement.< /p>
-
I am trying to decide what to do for my pre-op diet. My choice is Unjury or Bariatric Advantage. What are your reviews on Unjury? I haven't tried it. Not looking forward to the Pre-op diet. one moment I tell myself that I can do this, and another moment, I am thinking of quitting.
-
I had the same meltdown before I had my kids. Any kind of big change is scary. You can do this!!!!! You will be giving all of us "pre-oppers" pep talks soon.

Thanks for all of the positive support. I too have pretty thick hair. As long as no one else can notice it, I will be fine. I know I am being selfish, but my hair is one of my only nice qualities about my body (in my opinion at least) right now. I should stop bitching and just look at the glass as half full.
-
I haven't had surgery yet, and my biggest fear is losing my hair. I have thick hair right now, and had a tiny bit of loss when I had my kids, but that is all. Does everyone lose hair, or just some people?
Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?

I am in my 2 week preop diet, and I am absolutely HATING it. I would be fine if all I had to eat was plain chicken for the next 8 days. I hate hate hate the Meal Replacement shakes. Can anyone help?
