A sincere, thank you. You are very cool in my book. Tough love is a much needed issue sometimes, I'm the first to hand it out as necessary. But I have learned there is a time and place. When you have all the info,... then go for it! ;o)

Should prostitution be legal?

Sounds like the sane way to handle the issue! Thanks for posting. -
That's a cop out. Nobody made any such claim. There are plenty of people that can understand the basics of a band without being banded. There is a problem with ALL the newer and bigger bands, a great deal of people are not reaching a sweet spot, they are overfilling the band to try and reach restriction. This was not a problem with the older bands. So much for the newer bands being so great. Instead of wagging that finger and trying the tough love route, why not stick with the facts? Ten months and no sweet spot.. this I agree with you. Unless the banded person is underage, or mentally/emotionally unable to care for herself it is her responsibility to get herself to her doctor for fills and such. There could be financial issues, there could be a band issues, faulty band, there could be a lot of issues. The key here is to determine what the actual issue is and provide answers from there vs. lecturing and insulting.

You know what? You don't have a clue what you are talking about. You haven't even been banded for a month yet. Have you ever heard or read the term, "Bandster hell?" I think that it is quite obvious you have not. It is when one has a band without restriction. It's like buying an expensive car with four flat tires... it's not going to go far. You are a newbie, you have a lot to learn. You haven't even hit true bandster hell yourself yet. To be that rude, mean, and just plain wrong to someone asking for help is not wise. You never know when you might be asking the same question... you know, when you get a little band time in. Without proper restriction it is no different from having no band at all. If ANY of us could do this without a working tool we wouldn't have needed surgery. That includes you too.

Warning against Mexican Doctors!!!!
WASaBubbleButt replied to Liz1531's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Doing fills under fluoro is the Mexican way. Doing blind fills is the US way (cheap). Most in the US do blind fills. If you want fluoro go to Berger in Flag or Aceves in Mexicali. Berger is $200, Aceves for patients he did not band is $175. -
Good luck, most doctors will not take Medicaid. Reimbursement is exceedingly low.

Warning against Mexican Doctors!!!!

I live in AZ as well and you need to call a few more doctors. AZ is a great state for finding aftercare if you didn't stay local for WLS. I take it you are referring to Orris & Debarros (sp?). Yep, if they take over your care they want you to get the whole package deal. Psych, nut, the works. There is also Wendy Hall from FillCentersUSA, in a pinch Juarez and I forget his partner's name from St. Lukes. They'll do emergency care but not routine fills. Then there is Berger and his partner in flag. They will do all your aftercare, everything from problems to routine fills/unfills. They are quite affordable too. Then there is Aceves in Mexicali, MX. He's easy driving distance from AZ. About 3 hours from central Phx. Aftercare is not a problem in AZ, not in the least. Now, some of this also depends on who your doctor is. If it is a handful of doctors with poor reps, you'll always have a hard time finding aftercare. Doctors know there are some docs in MX that have less than stellar reps (same holds true in the US) and they will not take on the patients of those doctors. But if you went to a good doc, there is absolutely no problem finding aftercare in AZ. -
Old Band out -- New Realize Band In

For the first time Rocky is correct. The 11cm refers to the length, 10cc is the amount it holds. However, much as I hate to admit it, there is no such size band from Inamed. -

You can bet anything you wish, doesn't make it so. You are just miffed because several people called you on your behaviors. Let us not forget, you are the one dragging this out while pointing fingers at everyone else. -

BJean... I'm really done with this portion of the topic. I'm not going to continue. Agree to disagree or don't, it doesn't matter. -

Well, you know... this is the ONLY board where you can post any damn opinion you want regardless of stance. You can be honest, post your thoughts and it's okay. You can agree, disagree, agree to disagree, or whatever you want. To complain about that is obnoxious. -

I wasn't responding to that post, I was responding to the more recent post. We are just going to have to agree to disagree at this point. You do not understand my point and I don't agree with yours. -

And yet it didn't stop you from reading, participating, and dragging it on even longer. Well, there is band buds where all discussions are rainbows and puppy dogs and nothing else is permitted. MexicanBandsters where doctors pose as their own patients and talk about how wonderful their doc is. Ohhh, can't forget OH where they fight, bicker, whine, complain, and carry on non stop, the software sucks, the pages load slowly, the glitches are never ending, and you can't find threads because the search engine is so horrible. Right, I see why you are whining about this board. God forbid people actually post their opinions. The horror of it all! -
Should prostitution be legal?

No, you did not say "someone" and here is your quote: Why wouldn't I think you were directing it at me? Again, yes... I think there are similarities between a spouse who sets the mood for something they want to bolster their chances for getting it and prostitution. I am the one telling YOU that I see some similarities. I've repeated it twice now (okay, three times now.) so I'm not sure why you think I'm suggesting something I have now repeated three times isn't what I wrote. The ultimate goal is not an orgasm or sharing love. While they surely are in love if they are in a committed relationship and they both get off on the act, there is still a motive. Now, I never claimed this is the reason for the relationship as a whole. I never claimed that, I never inferred that, and I never really needed an explanation for the reason people get married or have relationships. I'm saying there are times both partners could USE sex to get something they want. -

Are you sure it was me that said something about secretaries giving it up for a car? I don't recall such a post. It's not ringing any bells. If a prostitute has sex for money and a wife has sex for a new kitchen, they are both getting something for their time. In many ways the two are quite similar. I was a bit annoyed with this comment: I never claimed that the basis of a marriage is trading sex for kitchens and boats. I think my post was pretty clear at face value. -
Sleeve.... In MX it is 3 nights after surgery in the hospital, in the US it is typically 1 night in the hospital. Recovery is quite similar to a band. About a week. Sleeves are fantastic!

What is the max fill in a 9cc realize band
WASaBubbleButt replied to noosagirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I sent it to a few docs for their input. Some I agreed with and some I did not. One wanted to do this surgery on an O/P basis, I do not agree with that so I didn't change it. I found that 80% of leaks are discovered in the first 24 hours so I left it that one needs to be hospitalized for at least 24 hours. I'd rather error on the side of caution. Now someone is just checking my spelling and grammar. She's a reg here and does this for a living. I need her help. ;o) -
Oh my goodness, yes! Inamed stats show that at the end of 5 years people have lost 55% of their excess weight with a band. Five year studies for the sleeve show 80%.

Should prostitution be legal?

BJean... oh please! I didn't say that is the only reason two people have sex. I was pretty clear in what I wrote, please don't read between the lines. I wrote what I meant. People are naturally manipulative to some degree. We know what works and we use it. I'm not referring to sex here, I'm referring to everything. Some manipulation is normal (a nurse talking a patient into an injection in their hip... you have to do a lot of fast talking sometimes) or talking an older person who is an easy target out of their life savings. One is acceptable, one is not. If you told me you never waited for the right time to tell you spouse something I won't believe you. I really don't know where you came to the conclusions you did with my post but what I wrote and what you read are amazingly different. I get the feeling that you think people are picking on you and that we have some unknown or hidden meaning in what we write. I think people have been pretty upfront and blunt about their opinions. -
That is old info. Traditionally if someone was a BMI of 70-80-90 they were too high risk to do a full gastric bypass or DS so they would do a VSG until they were down to a more realistic weight. They found that people didn't need to go back for bypass or DS after getting a VSG so they started looking at it as a procedure by itself, just like banding or bypass. They started doing research and discovered it's a pretty darn nice procedure and people do not typically need a revision after a sleeve. The info posted above is outdated, old, an inaccurate.

Should prostitution be legal?
WASaBubbleButt replied to Carrie_C's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In many ways prostitution is already legal. How many times has a person wanted to set the mood, get their partner in a position where they would agree to a new boat, a new kitchen, a new car... I don't know about women but you get your husband in bed and he'll agree to just about anything you want if you time it just right. ;o) If it is a new kitchen or $100... who cares? -
