  1. I don't know if your husband will go to a bariatric support group with you but if he will, you should try this. When he hears the stories and listen to other people, it may help him realize that 1) this is NOT, I repeat NOT an easy way out. You have to work you A$$ off still to make this work and 2) what a better quality of life you will have after the surgery. Not only are you doing this for you but you are also doing is so that you can be there and healthy and present for him and kids. When people don't know or understand, they often express thier fear in the form of criticism or negativity. Best of luck! P.S. You have a great big support system here.

  5. Don't get discouraged. Everyone has a moment of weakness and it is completely normal. The weekend after I got my surgery date (and 3 wks before the actual surgery) I went to 5 Guys and PIGGED OUT! And you know, the next day, I got back on track. It was not end of the world. What helped my was journaling and starting to read labels. So I would look at my journal and say wow, you have eaten to many sweets you need to put the cookie back. You will be surprised how much a difference it makes when you write down what you eat. Also, try looking up the nutritional info on what you are eating and you will start to make different choices. Don't be so hard on yourself. You will be fine.

  7. Since I begun this journey I realize that it's easy to focus on the negative, to whine or complain, or even harp on all the things you didn't do. I'm trying to change that attitude for myself. I know there will be days when it won't happen but I'm trying to make a greater effort to comment on my positives. So today, I went to water aerobics and enjoyed it! I also hit my 60g of protein today- woot, woot! Anyone else have a positive for today?
  8. Just wondering if anyone has had trouble combing their old life and their new life. Is it overwhelming focusing on all the things surgery related and then doing all the things in your "normal" life? Sometimes I feel I can do one or the other but not both, especially now that I have gone back to work full time. Suggestions?
  9. UGH! I sooooo understand your frustration on the stall. I was sleeved on 05/25 and haven't lost anything in about 1.5 weeks. I just want the scale to start moving again.
  10. Yeah for NSV!!!! Keep up the good work!@
  11. I say go and bring your dinner. If they ask, just say you are having some sensitive stomach issues right now and have to be careful what you eat. I don't think they would even say anything however.
  12. Congrats! Great job!
  13. So I have read about the infamous stalls. I know the stalls exists. However, I just can't fathom eating so little food and the scale just refusing to move. I know people say "but you are losing inches", but why doesn't inches have wieght? I'm a numbers person and these numbers just don't seem to be adding up. To add insult to injury, I got on the scale this morning and it went up 1.2 pounds. *sigh* There is never a gun around to shoot your scale when you need it! Happy Saturday everyone!
  14. It's summer and it's hot and the only thing on my mind is fruit. I'm only at week 5 but I'm tempted to call the doctor's office and ask if I can have some. Just wanted to share my fruit desires with someone. *doing the fruit dance*
  15. Positive thoughts being sent your way. Hope you have a quick recovery and congrats on the loss!

  19. @Almostthere we can. I think for me it may have been the acid. That's just my guess. @allies - jealous. Maybe I'll give it a couple weeks and try again.
