  1. Hi everybody! I was sleeved 12/8/11, had some severe pain & nausea after surgery so had to stay in hospital for 6 days. After I was released, i followed my nut's plan and did good except for meeting the liquid & protein requirements....i couldn't tolerate water until I discovered SmartWater & plain ol distilled water in the gallon jug! I hit a major/huge 10 week stall (i hate that word) at 6 months! I just started tipping the scales downward in the past 2 weeks. I eat just about anything (in moderation) at this point. I've become addicted to reading labels when i go grocery shopping. I occasionally eat gluten free bread (buy it frozen at WholeFoods so thaw out a piece at a time). As for my weight loss...check out my ticker! Good Luck to all of us December 2011 sleevers.....wooohooo!

    Hey Guys

Hi everybody! I just joined this group as I had seen it listed under another member's profile. I was sleeved 12/8/11 in Indiana. Except for a looooong stall when i got to my 6th month (lasted 10 wks!), everything has been goin fine. I've just recently began to see the scale move downward...altho i attribute it to a sinus infection/flu i suffered thru last wk. Hopefully I will keep on losing.

    Complications After Surgery.

Praying for your full recovery! So glad you knew to go to the er. When i have pains, I just blow them off as side effects. Your story has opened my eyes to be more watchful to my body aches and pains. So sorry for your complications.
  5. omg...i had some movie popcorn tonite...paid for it dearly. Very nauseous! Won't do this again!
  6. Good job! Congrats on your amazing weight loss:)
  7. SmartWater!! Only bottled water my tummy will tolerate. I was always a water drinker and could drink any bottled/tap water prior to surgery.....but after surgery, I got nauseated drinking water even if I mixed in crystal light. My daughter introduced me to SmartWater and I have been drinking it for months! Nice, clear, crisp tasting water. So good I can drink it at room temperature. Costco sells it cheap ($10.00 case)

    Im So Depressed!

Hi Belinda, I gained 10 lbs after surgery and it took me 2-3 wks to get that off. Shortly thereafter, the weight started melting off. That is until my 6 month stall that lasted 10 weeks. I was beginning to get depressed until I started reading the forums. I learned several things: 1) don't compare yourself to others cause everybody is different; 2) you wouldn't be where you are without wls; 3) stalls happen. there are others but they only pertain to my situation. So hang in there. Lizzybean....hang in there too! Everyone has gone thru depression at one or more points on their journey. This too shall pass. At least you recognize your problem and getting help for it. I'll keep you in my prayers. And remember...you have plenty of friends to talk to on these forums.

    Am I Wrong? :/

Prior to surgery, I had decided to tell as least amount of people as possible. My hubby, daughter, 2 very close girlfriends and 2 coworkers knew. Well, one of the coworkers blabbed my secret (altho i continued to deny it and said I had hernia surgery) but I started hearing all kinds of negative comments about wls and how people shouldnt have it, etc. The reason I didnt tell any of my siblings is becuz I didnt want to be watched & criticized on how much I put on my plate or "are you suppose to eat that", etc. I was told in one of the group meetings prior to surgery, that you should only surround yourself with positive & supportive people who want to be on this journey with you. So that was when I decided who to tell/not tell. Hang in there!

    Way To Sweet?

I had a full container of greek yogurt for the first time last week. I had tasted it before, but it was way too sour for me. Then I read on a forum about adding artificial sweetner so I decided to give that a try. I used a packet of Equal.......way tooooo sweet! I broke out into a sweat altho I was sitting in front of my fan! The next time I ate yogurt, I used Splenda...added a lil at a time (turned out to be the whole pkt) but I had no after effects. Now I am eating yogurt as my "in-between meals" snack. Sorry you had problems. Also read somewhere how our tastebuds change after surgery and for some people, anything sweet can taste 10x sweeter for us sleevers. Maybe that is what you are experiencing? Best of luck to ya!
  11. I guess everyone on this forum has had a regret or two at some point. This phase will pass....hang in there. Think positive! Mind over Matter.

    Lemons And Weightloss

Wow....never knew the benefits of lemon and/or honey! Thanks for the info. Im going to start doing the "lemon in the morning" drink....hopeful it will jumpstart this 10 wk stall of mine!
  15. My stall began at approx 5.5 months after surgery. I've been in this stall for 10+ weeks! I got the flu/sinus infection about a week ago and dropped 9 lbs! Im sure this is cause I was on liquids due to no appetite/nausea. Im hoping this is the end of the stall and maybe I will start losing again. I am 8.5 months out from wls. Good weightloss Luck to everybody!

    Vision Problems

Here's a copy/paste of a comment I posted on another forum: "Pooooor vision!!!! I was sleeved in Dec '11, and in Jan '12, i went to get my new eyeglass prescription. As the months went by, I noticed my vision getting worse and I was squinting just to see thru my glasses. Unfortunately, my insurance only pays for new glasses every 2 years so Im stuck with a pair of worthless glasses. BTW....pre-surgery, I only needed glasses just for reading...now need to wear a lot of the time!" This vision thing is REAL! At my 8 mo appt, my nut talked about it but gave me no definitive reason for my declined eyesight! Hoping someone on this forum has a good explanation!

    5 Days Post Op But,,

Heating pad worked for me. Sorry you're sore.......good luck.
  23. I was always a water drinker prior to surgery. After surgery, for some reason I could not tolerate the taste of bottled waters....and I tried many. One night, I drank outta a jug of water that was sittin on the table...it was a jug of Distilled water (we use for the clothes steamer). This water did not make me gag! I started drinking this for weeks until my daughter told me about a water someone had her try....SmartWater. I loved it....my belly loved it. Wholefoods makes a generic equivalent, Electrolyte Enhanced Water. Try it. You can also try those Protein Waters that come in a dozen or more flavors...Walmart has a huge selection. Good Luck!
