    Surgery 10/5

From what i've read on other forums, some folks with diabetes were able to reduce/stop their insulin. As for me, I have/had hypertension too...however, my doctor took me off my hbp meds even before I left the hospital. Try to keep a positive mind & outlook. Good luck to you on your surgery & journey.

    Hair Loss

I have thick hair. My hair started falling out at about 3 months post-op, but only in the front of my head....like a receding hairline! Only in the front....ugh! I started using hair edging gel to smooth down the spikes of hair sticking straight up. I also hide my hair loss with headbands.

Good luck to you! Don't forget a warm robe (its cold in those hospitals!), and I also packed some loose sweatpants & tshirts.

    Cosco Shopping Pre-Op

I took the sample meal plan I got from my nut to Trader Joe's. Since I was on full liquids, I got my juices, waters, broths, etc. Good Luck to you
  19. I have told very few. Didn't even tell my own siblings. Altho one coworker i thought I trusted spilled the beans to one of the biggest office gossipper! I mean, this girl broke it down and had people watching what i ate and my portion sizes. Jealousy is crazy....but Karma is a b**ch! I did damage control by denying my vsg (i hated that part, I did this for ME and I wanna be proud of what i did!). Altho I still hear the whispers behind my back, I no longer let it bother me so much. I can't stand the "haters"!! The less who know...the better!

    Boils!

Hi laurenss, mine were/are in my underarms/upper thigh areas and buttocks. Just not as often as before surgery. Any suggestions on how to treat?
  21. I wore skirts with elastic waists, paired with a shirt I wore on the outside as to disguise any swelling going on. I especially like wearing that "slinky" fabric skirts & tops. Also, I wore my waist binder for the first month....under my pants, skirts & loose tops!

    Boils!

I always had boils prior to surgery. However, since surgery, I hadn't had as many breakouts. Didn't really think about it until I saw your thread on the subject! How bout yourself? What did/do you do to treat them?
  23. My doctor gave me a prescription to take my B-12 thru shots. Once a month...that's it! It only cost me $12 at Sam's Club pharmacy (this includes the syringes).....$12 total is for 12 months/doses of shots!

    Same Day

6 days in hospital for me....had severe pain, nausea & excess bleeding. Im grateful that I have a doctor who allowed me to to be pain free and tolerate liquids at my own pace. Each day she came in, we discussed my complications; as I started feeling so-so to better, she would ask if I was ready to go home and then inject her advice on staying another night. The person who was more anxious to leave was my hubby...he spent every night with me...on that uncomfortable cot the hospital provided!
