4 Weeks Out Feel Like Crapp!

I think all of us sleevers went thru a crappy period or two! Im 9 months out now. I promise you both...as soon as your new stomachs catch up, your crappy feelings will pass and you will be able to eat & drink just fine. Hang in there!
  2. Good luck to you. Im sure its normal to be a bit restless the nite before your life totally changes for the better. I will pray that all goes well and you have a smooth recovery. Think positive!
  3. Co-workers can be the worst confidantes....I learned this first hand by trusting a coworker who I thought was on the positive side of my journey. After i started to drop weight in my 1-2nd month, she blabbed to the biggest blabber-mouth on our floor! I did damage control and calmed all the rumors...but still! Needless to say...she is def an "ex-friend" at this point, altho i have to work & see her everyday...I jus simply distanced myself and "cut her off". You may consider doing the same?

    Photos Of My Journey

Good job....you look great! I can definitely see the difference!! Good luck on your continued journey!
  5. Alenr, this is why this site is here....to support each other in their journeys! Leave those nay-sayers behind and concentrate on yourself. Keep a positive mind. I know several people who had the band and I would not say they "failed" I would say the band "failed" them! I even considered having the band surgery as well but after researching the vsg....my mind was made up. I limited the number of people who I told about my surgery after hearing the speaker in my pre-op class say that we should surround ourselves with positive people who will support us on our journey. Something to think about. Then again.....maybe these negative people will push you harder just so you can prove them wrong.....hmmmmm! Good luck beautiful lady

    Before And Afters

Roxy...you looked beautiful before ur surgery and still beautiful after! Great job on your weight loss. I'm curious....did insurance cover your panni surgery? Good luck on your continued journey
  8. chillihot59....years before my surgery, I was taking shots (orthovisc) in both knees every 6 months. I didnt go back to my orthopedist until 3 weeks ago....to start my shot therapy again:(. You see, I last had my shots about 4 months before surgery (in Dec '11). But becuz of the weight loss, my knees were feeling great. The problem is, my knees caught up with my weight becuz of my stalls and sloooooow losing. I had a feeling that was going to happen. I am now wearing my leg brace that I had to have special-made for me prior to surgery...sure fits a lot better since my calves and thighs have shrunk a bit! I think surgery was too little/too late to save my knees...I have no cartilage and no amount of weight loss can rebuild that. My doctor & I still see knee replacement surgery in my future...im just hoping that my sleeve surgery will help me hold off having it done for years and years and years from now!

    Vision

Not only was my vision blurry....but my eyesight has become extremely worse! I got a new pair of prescription eyeglasses in January '12....by February, they were useless (I was sleeved in Dec '11). I have to squint to see thru my glasses and even then it's still hard to read/see things. I talked to my NUT about this but she just acted like it was another one of those "stages" that us sleevers go through. Im just wondering if my sight will ever improve, stay the same or get worse? With my vision insurance plan, I can only get a pair of glasses every 2 years...ugh!

    Freaking Out!

As much Protein as I know I was getting in....I still lost my hair beginning at 3 mo's post-op till about 6 mo's. My hair loss was mostly/mainly in the front of my hairline...ugh....very noticable! Thank goodness headbands are in fashion! Is it me or is this really about a lack of protein? Maybe for some vsger's? From some hair loss comments i've read on other threads, most people get in their protein and still lose their hair! When i asked my NUT about hair loss, she gave me the impression that hair loss is a stage that everyone will go through no matter what.

    Sleeve & Weight Watchers

I asked my NUT about getting on a program like weight watchers and she told me "why do you feel the need to diet when you just had weight loss surgery?" Then she went on to say that it is not a good idea because I will not get in all of my nutrients and caloric intake. Go figure! Try using myfitnesspal.com to keep track.

    For Everyone:

Hi Neese...you are doing great! Good luck on your continued journey! We are all here on this site to support each other....especially when you can't find/get support from those around you! We all understand this journey.
  15. LMBO....hahahaha! Im the same way....altho I am 9 months out. I keep wondering when it will stop! Sometimes, I can feel the gurgles coming on during a meal (so when I am around others, I try to disguise the noise by creating a distraction...lol). My hubby and I call them "dinosaur noises". hehehe!
  16. I understand your dilema....if you cant even trust those who are closest to you, then who can you turn to for support??? Well, this forum is a great start!!! We will all be here for you Amanda! My reason for not telling my siblings, coworkers and other friends is because I saw/heard the negativity they all had towards others who had the surgery. In my pre-op class, we were told to only surround ourselves with positive influences...people who will totally support our surgery decision. Thats bout the time when I started making my list of who will know....very short list too! lol.
  17. I luv this thread! Thanks for sharing your story....im at 9 months out. You are my inspiration
  18. Other than my hubby, daughter, 3 very very close girlfriends and 2 coworkers, I didn't tell anyone else (not even my siblings/relatives). They were suppose to be sworn to secrecy! After seeing my weight drop drastically, one of my coworkers blabbed on me....I was hurt, surprised and bewildered! She had been on my pre-op journey with me for over a year! Not only did she just tell of the surgery...she broke it down and told people to watch what I eat and how small my portions were! I mean, nobody paid attention to what I ate or that I was losing weight until she said something about it...I really thought I pulled off my secret well! When other coworkers started asking me about a "rumor" going around bout me & surgery, I asked her if she told....she halfway denied it like she didnt know what I was talking about...totally lost a friend from that point on! She knew that I knew it was her! I never outright confronted/jumped on her about it, I just stopped associating with her completely, and she started avoiding me...afraid I was gonna get on her about it! I did damage control by telling people that I had hernia surgery and was on diet pills. Altho I still have people eyeballing and whispering behind my back, nobody asks anymore. Im in my 9th month post-op now and thank goodness im a slooooow loser, so my continued weight loss is not so noticable.
  19. My pharmacist showed me & hubby. My dr had a larger syringe ordered for my injections, the pharmacist gave me smaller needles and told/showed us how much to draw up on the smaller syringe. Please consult your doctor/nurse/pharmacist for this info as everyone elses order may be different from your own. I take my shots once a month; I know of another person who takes it more often.

jus curious...did it not agree with you or you just didnt like it? I figured I would get one from KFC and as everything else i buy....i would split it into a weeklong meal. Im a lil intimidated by all that crust tho. Sad that out kfc stopped selling them. Maybe they will start back up now that the weather is cooler here in Indiana! I may google for a recipe and try makin one myself....unless you would like to share your recipe

kinnymom....wowza, what a great victory! I get tired just watching the infomercials. lol! Good luck & much success on your continued journey. p.s. - my hubby is my biggest cheerleader too....don't know what i would do without him  . Have to give all hubbys out there a shout out....thank you for supporting us!
  24. Hey tbstacks....you look great!!!! I had a 10 wk stall 5-6th month postop (im in my 9th month now). Just started seeing the scale move.....sloooooowly, but at least downward. Hang in there....it will pass. Even when the scales didn't move, my clothes were fitting looser....so we still lose inches. That's when i decided to stop being a slave to the scale and stayed off of it for week or two at a time. I also stopped comparing myself to others....we are all different! Good luck on your continued journey.
