    What Would You Do?

I had the same problem after gallbladder surgery, my pants kept rubbing on my belly button and I ended up with a skin infection and a round of antibiotics. Definitely call your Dr and be careful! I had surgery on the 15th and am back to the office tomorrow. I'm more worried about my back hurting than anything

    Adding Cheese

I'm confused by this as well...everything I've read says protein protein protein...then at my one week post op check up where I was cleared for pureed my NUT tells me I can basically eat whatever my family is eating as long as there is protein blended in as well and not to worry too much about carbs because I've got to get my calorie intake up much higher. Sauces, gravies, whatever is needed to thin the food out is ok and not to worry about low fat etc until later when I'm on mushies. This sounds o wrong o me, I'm scared he's setting me up for failure and bad habits in the long run. Now I'm at a loss or what to do (or eat!)...

    Panic Attack!

I am two weeks away from my surgery date (Jul 16), and I've just woken up at 2am in full panic mode....what if I die, what if I'm sick for the rest of my life, what if I don't lose the weight....then I think what if I don't go through with it - and I die or I'm sick for the rest of my life and I don't lose the weight....all week I've been excited, and now I feel trapped and scared, I feel like a crazy person right now! How did everyone out there deal with per-surgery anxiety, any tips? Right now I'm sitting with the tv on trying to avoid the kitchen where my old anti anxiety meds are (aka FOOD).

    One Year Post Op

Aside from looking awesome and skinny, you look healthy and happy! Thanks for sharing, this is just the inspiration I needed today (6 days post op with a raging headache and cranky). I've also read a lot of your posts - always down to earth, helpful and positive, please know they are appreciated. Congratulations!
  10. I didn't use either, the most relief and comfort I got in the hospital was from walking. I have used a heating bad since I've been home as my incisions are a bit more tender now - but it didn't do much for me.
  11. Things I actually used at the hospital: Bactene for dry mouth (before I could have ice). Chapstick Cottonelle flushable wipes Eye drops (my CPAP) dries my eyes out I took house slippers but didn't use them, I wore the little non slip hospital socks. But I wish I had worn them because the bottoms of my feet were tender from walking around on all that tile. Disposable mouth freshener brushes (little toothbrushes that require no water). My crushed meds (BP) were horrifically bitter and these were the only things to get the taste out of my mouth Things I am using at home: The little squirt bottles they put ketchup and mustard in at restaurants. I filled them with Gatorade 2 and cold herb tea. This way I could squirt my drinks into the little medicine cup dispensers without having to get up or worry about spilling all over. Also I didn't have to keep an open glass with me on the recliner. Still using flushable wipes A thermometer for just in case. A few times I felt bad and couldn't tell if I was warm from being under blankets or running a low fever. Sundresses - clothes with no waist to rub on my incisions.

    July 16Th Sleevers!

After I take pain meds I'm sleepy for about an hour. Then I feel semi good for an hour or two (this is when I get most of my walking in) then my incision sites get super tender until its time for meds again. Also if I sleep for several hours it hurts when I first get up and move around - stretching things out. Getting ready for my first shower! Gas pains less every day. I came out of the hospital burping and now I'm passing a LOT of gas. My little boy thinks that part is hilarious. Every day a tiny bit better. How about everyone else, how are you feeling?

    Hey July Sleevers!

I take different flavors. Choc, banana, etc. so different colors and I also keep a shaker bottle in my bag, all contributing evidence.....no problems so far, even when I travel to the Middle Est!

    Hey July Sleevers!

I travel for work and had the same problem. First I tried taking the ready mades - they were so heavy, so now I get the ziplock snack sized bags and pre measure each serving (two scoops per bag). Then I put all the snack bags into a larger baggie and seal it. Light, small and ready to go!

    July 16Th Sleevers!

Congrats Laura! I'm sleeved now and doing well too...my surgery took twice as long because apparently my stomach was glued to my spleen and he was trying to avoid having to cut into the spleen (didnt even know this could happen). Even with my CPAP plus oxygen my oxygen drops into the 70s when I fall asleep so I haven't really gotten any rest. Not such a problem today but if this keeps up I will be an unkind peron by tomorrow lol. Best wishes and positive thoughts for all!
