  1. September I ran my first 5k and started this post. Last Sunday I ran a 10k (6.2 miles) just to see if I could. My goal had been 5 straight miles before the end of December but I just kept going! Now my husband and I have added an offical 10k to our race schedule. If I can do it you can do it!

  2. Watch out! They are addictive! I have 2 scheduled this fall and am looking for more. I wouldn't mind running in the winter but it seems as though races aren't big at that time. Go figure. :-/ lol.

    Congrats!

I already know what you mean! I had another one last week which was a blast! It was a color run :) I attached a picture of my husband and I AFTER the race!

Now I am already planning my next 3 races!

  3. I have been working up to running non stop and I was able to do it! I had actually ran 3 miles straight at the gym a few days prior so I KNEW I had no excuse not to do it at this race. Prior to this I had been stopping at 1 mile but I knew that was my brain and not my body stopping me. I have another 5k this weekend and I can't wait to run that one too. By no means is this fast running but it is a start and I feel stronger and faster every week. If I can do this now it is exciting to imagine what I will be able to do with 50 more lbs off me!

Sorry I just wanted to share this NSV.

  4. Last night I woke up at 3:30 with problems breathing and a horrible pain in my chest and back. I woke my husband up and he called my LB Doc. While he was on the phone with him I was walking back from the bathroom (I thought I was going to be sick) and I ended up passing out face first into the carpet. I went to the ER were they took a chest xray and did a ct scan. They ruled out a blood clot and didn't give me any anwsers before sending me home. On the way home my lb doc called back and told me he wants me to get my gallbladder checked. I will be going in on Friday morning for that test.

It was scary. I passed out because my pulse and blood pressure were very low. They gave me morphine and oxygen so after a few hours I was feeling better. I haven't had any more problems all day but I am scared to go back to sleep. That as the wost pain I have ever felt and I don't want it to happen again.

  5. I am on Week 4 day 2. I find it harder to run on the tm because it requires me to keep my speed steady. I tend to go faster than I do when I am on the track but I like it because it makes my walking much quicker and I can do a 15 minute mile instead of a 18 minute mile.

On a side note have you heard of www.dailymile.com

I LOVE logging my workouts there! I get so much motivation!

If you want more info message me! (It's free)

  6. I didn't post it on FB (I'm sure one day it may end up on there) and I didn't tell a lot of people about it at first. I was afraid of failure. Now that I am a few weeks out and people are starting to notice a difference I love to talk about it. I have more of a "ya I did this and watch me succeed" attidude.

  7. I am almost 3 weeks post op and my doc doesn't do a first fill until 2 months so I don't have anything in my band yet. However, today I was eating some lunch meat and not paying attention and I ate it quickly. Next thing I know I have this horrible pain in my chest and the urge to cough over the trashcan. After a few times a spitting out gunk I felt better but now I am wondering if that is what stuck feels like.

  8. Getting banded on July 26 in Decatur. My surgeon is Dr. Robert Snow. I meet him on Monday. I live in Benbrook (SW Fort Worth). Getting nervous.

You going to do great!! Best decision ever! It sucks for a few days and then you feel like yourself again... with out the hunger! (at least that is how it was for me)

  9. Great job so far!!!

I was banded on 6/27 and as of today have lost 22lbs. My first short term goal is to be under 244 when school starts back up. That was the lowest I have been in a few years and it was right at the end of last summer. I found a good 30 lbs during the school year. THAT won't be happening again this year :) I am at 253 as of this morning so I am pretty sure I will make it!

  10. My gosh I'll have a hiatal hernia repair and get my band on August 23rd. Do they offer pain meds? I was planning on returning to work the Monday after should I scratch those plans?

Just depends on your doctor. Mine gave me a nice liquid pain reliever. It helped me sleep for the first two days. It took me a few days to fill normal again. I think I stopped taking the pain medicine on day 4 or 5.
