Ok i know this is a guy thread but just a personal thought..
Why would you want to go for them? You werent good enough for them when you were bigger so why should they get to get with you just cause your smaller? Your still the same person just a smaller version. No offense but sounds like a bunch of shallow bi#c#es!

I to have had so many ups and downs on the scale. Some not my fault due to a lovley faulty band. And others my fault because I gave up on myself. ... but guess what? I still have my band! Which means I gotta kick myself in the butt sometimes to jump start my progress.
I wish I had an awesome success story like some of the people on here that have truly kicked this into gear and lost a huge amount of weight in a short amount of time.
But I'm me and I have my own journey.. we all have bands but we are all diffrent. Diffrent sizes, diffrent shapes, diffrent metabolisms its going to work diffrent for everyone. I am down 135 lbs but its taken me 5 years to get here. I've been here before and messed up and gained 50 back with fills three times! It happens but don't give up! Each and Every pound lost is a little bit of life you've given yourself back. Alittle closer to easier breathing, easier exercising, great clothes, having children, enjoying life! I'm 25 and truly without my band I believe I would have already suffered from a heart attack. I was 429 before my surgery with a bmi of 71. It has given me a new lease on life even if it lets me down sometimes or I stray from what I should be eating. You can always come back to it!

MY STORY ISN'T OVER YET, IS YOURS?
I read what you shared and I understood what you were saying- I've thought similar thoughts over the years.
I won't tell you to "snap out of it" because that never worked when people said it to me. But when I was ready, when I felt sufficient motivation to make my own health my priority, I did snap out of my "hmm...the band didn't work" bad attitude and I followed the rules even though I thought some of them were stupid. And I've started losing weight again after years of not losing and even gaining.
If someone had judged my success when I'd already been banded for years and yet I weighed 200 pounds, they might say it was a failure. But once I ramped up my movement the scale started moving again. (In the past two weeks I've lost six pounds.) decided to try slow jogging (thanks to "Couch to 5K") and an hour of Wii aerobics instead of my usual slow stroll through the neighborhood that counted as my exercise before. And I started logging my food on "Lost It!" and learning about nutrition. And I stopped making restaurant lunches and dinners my main form of socializing with friends.
You're so right! Eating in a restaurant isn't the same anymore, it can turn into a gurgling, slime-flowing puke-fest at its worst. (Whenever I fly on a plane, I bring home a few "air-sickness" bags to tuck in my purse for emergency band situations. And strong zip lock baggies tucked in a purse work in emergencies too.) I felt embarrassed asking for my husband to pull the car over because I ate a few bites too many and was about to throw it all up. It's gross, isn't it? But I'd rather excuse myself and go PB in the bathroom than stay morbidly obese and eventually die from a heart attack, stroke, asthma, diabetes, you name it. I don't want to have to test my blood and give myself insulin shots. Drops of blood here and there, insulin vials in the fridge, a "sharps" disposal box on the bathroom counter... That's kinda yucky. And out of control diabetes leads to blindness and amputations. Also kinda...yucky. Having an oxygen tube under my nose all the time and carting around a little personal oxygen tank due to heart failure....there are all sorts of indignities and humiliations that come from long term morbid obesity. If I have a choice I'll choose an occasional PB that reminds me to listen to my body and not always try to take just "one more bite."
Being healthy is my priority now so if I'm meeting a friend nowadays I'm focusing on talking with my friend and not making the visit about the restaurant food we eat. I'm more likely to invite a friend to sit and talk while sipping a coffee or iced tea at a cafe than a restaurant. Or I invite a friend to walk or shop with me. Now that I'm trying healthier coping skills when life is hard (talking about what made me upset instead soothing me feelings with food) I'm losing weight.
I know I sound like I'm lecturing. I'm sorry, that's not my intent. But I relate to you and I went years feeling the same way you did. And after a while, enough of life's little "lessons" finally snapped me out of my bad attitude (going back on blood pressure medicine after being able to go off, hearing about friends and family's preventable health issues and the impact they had, struggling to communicate with a person I love who was paralyzed from a stroke, etc.)
A few years ago, my band story looked like it ended poorly. But it hadn't yet ended. Every day I get to choose the thoughts and actions that are resulting in me now authoring the future I'd prefer.
I'm not perfect. And on some days my attitude sucks. But I'm not giving up on myself. I'm going to follow the rules, work harder, change old behaviors and learn new skills. None of that is my natural style but I know where following my natural style has led me and where it will eventually lead. I'm choosing to work towards health instead.
Wherever you started, wherever you're at now, wherever you're heading, I wish you blessings and health and happiness. I hope you find what works well for you.

I have had my fair share of band complications. I've had two port revisons and need a third. I had to pay cash for them and didn't have the money up front so ended up gaining a lot of weight back in the waiting process.
This last time it closed its self off I couldnt eat or drink and became highly dehydrated and hospitalized.
But I would not get rid of my band ever! Because of it I have lost over 100 pounds. I can tie my own shoes and still breath. I can take a flight of stairs and not have to stop to catch my breath. I can conceive a child and buy jeans not stretch pants.
You are told before surgery the type of lifestyle you will be leading. Small pencil sized bites that will need to be chewed and chewed. That you need small meals and lots of Water followed with exercise because this is a TOOL not a magic trick. If you did not do your homework and prepare yourself for this then it is your own fault.
Just like any other diet plan it is not for everyone.

So I could walk up a flight of stairs without feeling like I was going to die!
So I could comfortably bend over and tie my own shoes.
So I could safley have a healthy pregnancy and have the energy to keep up with my babies once they are here.
So I could buy clothes off the rack without buying the biggest size and hope it would fit if I stretched it enough.
So I could shop with my friends in a normal store.
So I could ride a rollercoaster without worrying if id fit in the seat.
So I could pick out an outfit ,put it on and feel confident and leave the house instead of trying on everything I owned and ending up sitting around crying because I hated the way i looked.

It's funny how you stated that you lost 20 lbs in the first month ONLY by eating very little. Which is the whole purpose of the Lapland by the way. And then after that you didn't lose anymore because all u ate was slider foods. In your first paragraph alone, u just stated why you were unsuccessful. If you were truly to tight even sliders would be hard to go down. If you can get sliders down, you can get some kind of Protein down, even if you have to blend it.
When I go out to eat, I usually just order Soup or a salad just in case. I have been out to eat and had to go the bathroom very quickly. It's not the end of the world. Im sorry but it just seems like you didn't do what you needed to do with the band and you are blaming it for failing. I don't know your whole story, but from what you posted, this is just my opinion and you have yours. Im not really feeling very supportive since you seen like you have already given up on the band and are telling a whole bunch of people that could really use it and take care of it not to get it and maybe save their lives. That's what I don't like about your opinion... sorry

I promise you will be just fine your head is just stickin to old habits. it takes a little time to adjust to the change. It took me a while to know when I was really hungry or if I was still just thinking I should be eating because that's what I normally would have been doing.

Im like because im fat and he said whos fat? Im like me I weigh almost three hundred pounds! He said so what you are such a beautiful women I dont even see your weight .. For someone to see me for me was the best day of my life... But u know what always sticks out in my head my step grandma looked at me and said youd be so beaitiful if you werent fat what a waiste of a face..... Im like wow dont sugar coat it... I just ignore ppl now who are ignorant they do not kbow my life or my story I know im healthy now and I know im loved and valued I dont need them
