  1. Hey there! I'm doing well. I'm down 30.5 lbs so far. I have been struggling to get my protein in, so I'm really trying to step it up and get all of my protein and keep the carbs down. My next step is to start exercising. I've been putting it off because I'm so out of shape, but I just got a membership to the local YMCA so I'm going to start going soon. How are you doing?
  2. Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'm going to do some research.
  3. I keep seeing Protein bars, but none of them seem quite right. Can anyone recommend a good bar? I got one from the commissary that has more protein than carbs, but not a huge difference. I thought it would be nice to have something to snack on while on the run. Thanks!
  4. I found those and thought I had hit the jackpot. They taste great! I love sweet things and I could down these for Meal Replacement all day. But then I got to my doctor's office and he pointed out that they have 5 grams of Protein and 27 grams of carbs. Which, of course, is why they taste so great. Try something else to get your protein in, you're not going to get it with one of these.
  5. That sounds really cool. I'm downloading it right now.
  6. I tried mixing the protein powder with milk yesterday and it was terrible. I almost cried for joy when I finished it. I did water today and it was much better.
  7. Thanks for the recommendations! I just picked up a bottle at WaWa and it looked promising. Can anyone recommend a good protein bar. I'm going to Costco next week.
  8. I recently discovered Muscle Milk. It's 25g of protein with only 9g of carbs (14 oz total). Does anyone else use Muscle Milk. Just want to make sure it's a good product before I buy a big bottle of it, lol.
  9. Haven't experienced anything like that. Have you kept the incisions covered? Could you have bumped it or bruised it somehow? I kept my bandages on way longer than the doc suggested.
  10. Thanks, ladies! It makes me want to go out and celebrate! Although I'm not entirely sure how to Celebrate without food. Hubby is taking me out on a date tomorrow, maybe we'll do something special.
  11. So sorry to hear that. But hang in there. Hopefully, your doc can get it sorted out.
  12. I used to have fat overlap on my mid-back creating little wings. Well, I was talking on the phone outside and I put my hand on my back and realized that I couldn't feel the wings anymore! They're gone! Yay! So excited about this.
  13. Never thought of ice. I've never been a big ice person before, but I will try that. Thanks!
  14. Sleeved on August 13 and doing well so far. I had my 1 month appointment and I'm 22 lbs down. Yay! Anyway, I've noticed that lately I don't feel any hunger at all. But I constantly feel like I'm dying of thirst. It doesn't matter how much I drink or what I drink, I still feel thirsty. I don't think I'm dehydrated. I'm always carrying a Protein shake or a bottle of Water with me and I keep sipping, but I'm just so thirsty. Anyone else experience this?
  15. I'm a month out. Doc told me to take it slow, but I can have some steak. I can't wait!
  16. Yay for real food! I just got on solids myself and it makes you feel like a real person again, lol. I just got cleared for steak, so guess what's for dinner?
  17. I had some emotional vampires in high school and I have left them long in the dust. I'm very careful about who I let into my life now. Life is hard enough without people bringing you down. Good for you for getting your support system in order. It's tough to do, but you need to be surrounded by helpful, positive people now.
  18. Thanks for all your posts, ladies! I think off the rack is the way to go. I've been looking at dresses for a while on my computer, I hope I can find a nice one soon. Btw, I had my one month post-op appointment with my doc and I've lost 22 lbs! I'm under 300 now! Hurray!
  19. Off the rack sounds like a good way to go. Now I just need to find something I like, lol. What does your dress look like? Do you have any pics?
  20. I had the ensure procedure done in 2007. It was so simple and effective. I highly recommend it. So little hassle and no fear of pregnancy.
  21. I should give more info. I was sleeved on August 13, 2012. I'm down about 20lbs so far.
  22. So my fiance and I have decided to plan our wedding for December. We've been engaged for 2 years and since things are going really well for us, we want to actually get married. Anyway, I have no idea how I should go about dress buying. I know it's too late for me to get a custom dress, as those can take months. But should I get a white party dress? Should I wait until late November and buy something off the rack? Can I trust my mom to do any alterations I might need? Does anyone have any experience or advice for me?
  23. I guess I heard a different definition of "soft foods". ^^;;;; Anyway, I ate a scrambled egg for lunch and I still feel something in my throat. I looked up reflux and it sounds just like the symptoms. The only cause that can be applicable to me is obesity. So is this something that will work itself out? Plan on calling the doc if I'm not feeling better by tomorrow. Tomato Soup for dinner. Maybe some low-fat frozen ice for dessert.
  24. "Leveled" was supposed to be "sleeved". My auto correct got me. Anyway, I'm on the soft foods stage. Right now I'm having a little bit of rice and a soft, seafood taco. The food feels like it isn't going down. It feels like it's just sitting in my throat. It's super uncomfortable. I'm not entirely sure what reflux is. I had an esophageal hernia that the doctor fixed during my surgery, shouldn't that have taken care of the reflux?
  25. Sleeved on August 13th. The burping finally went away but now I'm having trouble swallowing. I take tiny bites and chew really well, but the it feels painful to swallow and sometimes my chest hurts like something's stuck in my throat. Today I woke up with the feelings of something in my throat and it makes me not want to eat. Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away on its own?
