  1. hi All, I can search through zillions of success stories on here but not a lot of unsuccesful ones which is making me wonder if i'm the only one?? I was sleeved back in September and it all went textbook perfect. I had zero issues with recovery and was not in any pain or anything. I was getting used to eating small amounts but did struggle to figure out how much was enough. At first i was worried that i was eating too little, then confused because the amounts i could get in were not at all consistent. My last appointment was in November and i was told i'd lost 20kg which they said was a bit slow and could have been due to me previously being banded. Now i can eat a regular sized meal before i feel any signs of fullness. I haven't felt hungry since the surgery but i always feel like eating which i know is in my head. I can feel myself putting the weight back on and it's severely depressing. I dont weigh myself so i dont know exactly how much has come back. I had an appointment with my surgeon/dietician in march but i cancelled because i was so embarrassed. I'm feeling myself slip back into hopelessness. i dont know what to do. I got the surgery as a tool to help me get this weight off but without any encouragement ie. weightloss, i am slipping further into this depression and picking up old habbits of takeaway and junk food. I just dont know what to do. When i was banded everything worked so great. I lost about 50kg and felt fantastic. It's the only time in my life when i felt like i was actually living. Then the slip changed everything. It was torture not being able to eat anything but slider foods and feeling and seeing it all come back on. So then i think the sleeve will change everything and get me back to that happy place/weight and instead I'm feeling more hopless and lost than ever and like such a failure. Is there anyone else out there having problems with their weight loss/food intake? I'd love to hear from you and know that it's not just me.
  2. I tend to go for chicken mostly, eggs where i can, salads, steak and veggies, and now that its getting colder there are a lot of casserole type foods being cooked. None of them over bad for you - just regular foods. It s the amounts that i can eat that are worrying me. over the weekend for example, i went to a friends house for dinner. they cooked steak and salad. I ate about two thirds of the steak (about an inch thick and 41/2 inches long) and about 4 mouthfulls of leafy salad. I didn't feel uncomfortable afterwards or anything. I dont know what this basic bootcamp is??

Hi everyone sorry it has been a while! I need a quick bit of advise. About half an hour ago I are my Breakfast - half a sandwich thin, half a slice of cheese and half a scrambled egg. I now have the most intensely painful cramps in my lower stomach area and feel sweaty nauseas and have thrown up about half of what I ate. Am I dumping? This hurts like crazy does anyone know how long it lasts? I may have eaten my breakky too fast I think..

Hi all, You guys are all doing so great! I don't know if ill ever hit a size 14 :/ hoping to at least get to a 16 so I can wear my raiders jersey again in time for next season! I've had an absolutely awful week at work. I've pretty much been crying the whole time. I've also been catching myself heading towards old habits like staring into the fridge when I'm not even hungry. I've succumbed to my old nemesis the caramel slice. TWICE! I've been feeling so guilty and negative and I just don't know how to break these bad habits. Is anyone else struggling with emotional/stress eating? I'm so happy with my weight loss and terrified of going backwards but u can't seem to snap out of it.

Liquid for me was up and go's for breakfast, v8 juice for lunch and homemade (strained) chicken soup for dinner. I couldn't handle the sweetness of the diet jellies after surgery so they were out! A bit of milked down yoghurt was in the mix too! I also am a mad water drinker so the rest was made up with good old h2o!

Haven't been on for a while, have had an incredibly busy and stressful few weeks. Just came home from my 5 and a half week post op appointment. My magic number is 20 kegs so far. Doc is very pleased with how everything is going and assures me ill be a whole new person before I know it! Hope you're all doing well. Everyone's pics are looking amazing! Good luck to all of you heading in for surgery! I'm sure you don't need to be told but its the best thing you'll ever do - if you're anything like me! I wish I had done this years ago!

Hi all, I can't remember who it was but someone on here said her name was Melissa Scott. I called the hospital to find out if she was still in there and they said she was in surgery 1. Could get much more info than that but at least we know she's surrounded by people that can help her out if there are dramas!

Thanks for the tips. I do the same with my 1.25L pump bottle and usually get down the lot before bed time. Yesterday was just completely nuts! Running around all day at work then working from 5-12 on cakes at home. Have a shopping list written that includes a lot of Protein, dairy, fruit and veg. Hopefully when things slow down a little at the end of the week ill be feeling better. But I'm totally with you on the tired thing! If I wasn't working I could easily sleep til noon. I'm snoozing my life away every morning making me almost late for work and missing out on the car parking spots!

I am in struggle town with food right now being at home was fine because I had the time to plan meals and stuff but being back at work 6 days a week with an extra 20+ hours after work making cakes is killing me! I haven't hit my Protein goal of 50g for the last few days and I'm getting slack with meal prep. Today I had an up and go, formé yoghurt and a few teaspoons of left over casserole for dinner. I barely got through 700ml of Water and I feel terrible. Is anyone else struggling with remembering to eat? Or just finding that you can't be bothered? I'm taking all of my Vitamins religiously but am feeling so tired and run off my feet all day! I'm officially onto soft foods now. If anyone has any easy meal/snack ideas then throw them at me! I feel like i just don't have time for anything other than work right now!

Wow congrats guys! I can't wait for my next dr appointment so I can throw some awesome numbers at you all too! Bit quiet this week. I bake cakes on the side and I've been completely overloaded with orders this week! 7 chocolate mud cakes baked, five kilos of ganache made and I haven't been tempted to eat any of it! I normally don't have too much of a sweet tooth but have definitely had the occasional bowl lick when done with the ganache! Haha Hope everyone's doing well. Lila, if you read this I'd love an update! Hope you're doing ok hun, you are a champion for going through all of this. Xoxo

Hey Jules! I was on the 5th so I'm guessing we're both on puréed still? I'm enjoying the food still, it's odd how I actually kind of like puréed stuff! Right now I'm mixing it up with homemade smoothies, up and go's, Optifast, Protein shakes, formé yogurts and whatever dinner I've puréed. I made a slow cooked casserole with puréed really well and I had it with really mushy mashed potatoes. I've also puréed a few curries that blended up nicely too. Oh and I have a skim chai latte most mornings. I'm struggling to get in half a cup still. And I really really miss being able to have a massive drink of Water or milk - I'm talking almost a litre at once! Lol but they're the only things I'm struggling with right now. I don't weigh myself (I'm crazy I know) so I won't know how much I've lost until my next appointment with the surgeon. My gosh do I know what you mean about the tiredness! It is near impossible to get out if bed in the morning and I feel constantly drained. Hoping this will get better once I can eat regular food again. Are you hungry at all? I don't get hungry anymore So I don't really feel like eating when I have too. It's still been tasty and stuff but I'm not so Interested anymore. Although that being said I went and got a soft serve a couple if days ago - little monthly friend took over my diet that day. I wasn't hungry but all I felt like doing was eating! It's still a bit of an adjustment but I'm slowly getting used to it.

I use elite whey protein in deluxe chocolate. It tastes the best out of the ones I've tried and I mix one scoop with about two shots worth of water so it's not too long to drink it!

Thanks guys! Ive been getting down between 500 and 700 calories a day including around 50g Protein and at least a litre of Water. I'm still on puréed for another week. I'm getting variety definitely. I'm just scared to test it! I think the times it came back it was something not chewed enough because I felt the lumps. I get burpy sometimes too and it's always at the end of my meal so maybe im getting in just enough.. Thanks gals

Hey all, I have a question for all the post-oppers. Wondering how you know when you're full? Because I'm not hungry when I start to eat, I'm not sure if I've had enough when I finish. I can handle a half cup of puréed food when my stomach feels sort of weird but it's not a full or hungry feeling. I've heard people mentioning pain or discomfort when they have one bite too many. I haven't experienced this yet though. I'm really worried that I'm going to miss my cue and end up eating too much and stressing the sleeve! I'm just managing to get to 50g Protein a day and am always within 500-700 calories. Also, how slowly should I be eating? The half cup I get through over about 20 minutes but maybe 5 minutes after eating a small amount will make its way back up - sorry for the grossness! It's happened twice now but it's not a full blown vomit or anything.

Welcome newbies!! Inevitable - I'm usually the biggest negative nancy out there but what I've realized over the last few weeks (sleeved on 5/9) is that what's done is done and there's no point being anything but positive through this change. I had the same reservations after my band and wouldn't take a compliment from anyone and convinced myself that something bad was going to happen. I ended up having a slip, packing back on the kilos and then eventually I had it removed. I really wish I would have enjoyed the time I had when things were good instead of always having negativity in my head. So this time around, I'm lapping up the compliments and taking each day as it comes. I've had a little depression session but I think that's normal and I got over it. The best possible way to heal and change is to be positive.
