  1. It could be gas or acid.. Do you take a PPI like pepcid or zantac? I'll be 4 weeks Friday too =) My tummy makes all kinds of noises too but only the moments before and after I eat.

My husband still has a relationship with his family but barely so, we are def closer to my family. I just chalk it up to them being jealous. Jealous of the relationship with my family, they think that we don't struggle like they do with finances (we just suck it up and do instead of cry about it!), and they have made comments about us thinking we are better than them. All assumptions and all very hurtful. We do have a better relationship with my parents but only because of the way his treats us! I also think it's their loss! So here's to us! To our new journey of rediscovering ourselves and learning new things along the way =) Whoever is left behind is their loss!!
  3. I have found a new love in fish, tilapia and mahi mahi yummm!! Tilapia can be broiled or baked and has 22 grams of Protein in a 3 oz portion! mahi mahi has 25 for a 3 oz portion! and no carbs to boot!! I used to hate fish but since surgery I can't seem to get enough of it =) YUM! Broiling it is my favorite though =) I have problems with Protein shakes too, YUCK! Something about the texture and aftertaste ... BLAH! I know I have to have the protein shakes for now until I can get in enough meals to cover it all so I cheat LOL I go to smoothie king and get the gladiator strawberry powder with a few strawberries added in a 20oz smoothie and it is amazing! 45 grams of protein and 3 carbs! Takes me about 2 hours to get all 20 oz in but it solves my protein problem so it is worth it!!
  4. I, too, was one of the lucky ones with no pain to speak of other than a little gas pain in my shoulder area but as soon as I was back to my room I was up and walking around about 30 min later. My biggest problem has been getting the protein in.. blah! I am finally getting it in but trying to get it in during the 2 weeks of liquids only was too much for me.. I tried but with not much luck =( congratulations on your journey! I wouldn't change a thing =) I am 3 weeks out and I'm down 38 lbs and feel amazing!

For some reason your post made me cry! I can so relate to the way you felt, I work from home and most days I would just stay in my pj's! What was the point?? I too also find myself putting on make up and making a trip into town to do stuff, just get out of the house!! Please know that sharing your heart with us tonight made a difference =) Cheers to you girl!! and congrats on your journey!!!

    New Sleever

I am 3 weeks post op and get that same gurgling but I don't have any belly pain. I get Gas X chewables (cherry) and it gets rid of it quickly =) But the pain combined with the gurgling may be something more serious so I would contact your doc. Better safe than sorry!
  7. I didn't have any incision pain after surgery but I did have a little gas pain in my left shoulder but after walking a couple of hours after surgery it went away by the next morning. I didn't have problems with pain when I came home either just a little tired for the 1st week. I went back to work though and managed ok =) The thing I wasn't prepared completely for was the complete no interest in food. Then you know you have to get water and protein in but can't, I mean literally can't! Couldn't get it all in until week 3, you have everyone tell you about that part but until you experience it, well, it just didn't register for me lol! Then around the 4th day of week 2 I wanted food, but couldn't have it =( Sooo I started freaking out about the restriction for the rest of my life like OMG! what have I done to myself! lol Anyway, you get the picture! I wasn't so much out of commission for my family but I did have some head games going on that were sometimes more of an issue than anything physical... I am now almost 4 weeks out and loving the sleeve, those weeks were totally worth the 34 weight loss =)

    August 31 Tijuana

Congratulations!!! I know how excited you are =) I was sleeved June 29 in Juarez and I was nervous, excited, scared all mixed into one emotion! LOL! The one thing I can say to prepare is to get your head ready for the first 2 weeks following the surgery. Those are the hardest!! Much harder than what I was prepared for but I wouldn't change a thing!!
  9. I read on on my sleevers FB page yesterday that Renee Wilson from Biggest Loser season 6 was sleeved recently. Her interview: http://www.mycompletetransformation.com/blog/ just scroll down to the second story then at the bottom there is a link to watch the whole story.

    Disappointed

You've done amazing in 5 weeks! I do however understand the frustration, I mean we've put ourselves through major surgery for the ultimate and desperate goal of dropping the weight, and hopefully quickly! I am in a 3 day stall at 208.4 after dropping 18 lbs in the first 2 weeks. I have heard it called the 3 week stall so I'm not too worried about it, it will come off eventually. We've just got to be patient and work the sleeve, it's too late to turn around now! LOL!!

    Blt

I totally understand! My second week is when I had the few minutes of "regret". I just wanted something to chew and I couldn't! I thought "What the heck did I do to myself?!?! I'm never going to be able to eat normal again!!" But really, that was the whole reason I chose to do the surgery! I didn't want to be able to eat like I normally did, I wanted to eat healthy and be able to eat smaller portions and be content but eating after the surgery was not what I expected. You don't expect your head to play the tricks on you, people can tell you it's going to come but you don't expect it to happen the way it does. You don't expect to take 2 bites and be done, completely done! My head tells me "Good Lord! You haven't eaten even 3 oz of that, you have to eat it all!" and you get frustrated because you can't even get that small amount in. Well, enough of my rambling, I just wanted you to know that I feel your pain! I

    2 Questions?

Question 1) Yep, I take the nasty liquid calcium too. chalky & nasty! I felt like Lucy doing the vitameatavegamin commercial when I first started taking it! hahaha! I can finally get it down though, here's the trick. You get one of those syringes to give kids medicine from your pharmacy, mine was $1. After sucking up a tsp or so you put it at the back of you tongue and squirt it quickly down your throat!! You can still taste it a little but it has sure helped me get it down =) Question 2) My doc told me to take colace if I had problems in that "area". I did not, thankfully, but I certainly bought it just to be sure =) It gets so much easier as the days go on. I didn't think I was ever going to eat again, but now at 3 weeks out I can get down 4oz each meal and I can finally get my Protein in. Good luck on you journey!! It is all worth it no matter what your head tells you in the beginning!!!

    Vitamin Help

I am 3 weeks out and take quite a few but for the most part they are tiny capsules, liquid or sublingual. I take: calcium citrate - liquid Multivitamin - sublingual (I didn't like the gummies, after surgery my Vitamins turned into my breakfast! lol) Biotin & silica - tiny capsule I chew up a cherry gas-x with almost every meal and Protein shake or my tummy hurts =( and my PPI These are the ones my doc advised me to take so I'm taking his advice, the only thing I added was silica to the biotin to hopefully curtail the hair loss experience in the coming months lol Anything I can do to help!!! Good luck on your journey!

    Stomach Stretching

Wow! Great video, I did not believe you could stretch your stomach back out from a sleeve! Of well, more incentive to be good!!

    Drain

Mine was removed the day after surgery because it was dry, no more drainage. It didn't hurt a bit although I held my breath and waited for it to hurt!! lol I have heard of people having to have theirs for days and sometimes weeks after surgery so maybe it is dependent on your surgeon?
  16. Congratulations!! That is a great step in the right direction!!!
  17. Today I am 15 days post op and I am down 22lbs (32 including pre op) and am thrilled with the weight loss but this "licking" the spoon a couple of times and being full is unnerving and frustrating lol I was thrilled today to be able to eat, really chew, something!! I went to Applebees with my husband (we are out of town) and I ordered baked tilapia. It was soooo good!!! I enjoyed all 4 bites I got to take LOL!!! Should've shared a plate with my husband but I had these big plans of being able to eat half of the filet. NOT! But for now, the fish was good and I was thrilled to be able to chew!

4 Days After Surgery And Worried

I am 15 days out and could not imagine getting in the type of food you are eating much less the quantity!! I can barely get in 3 oz of food per meal and I struggle to get in 32 oz of water on top of that.. it is sooo frustrating!! I got in 4 bites of baked fish last night and I was thrilled!! lol I would call your nutritionist and see if they have any ideas. I understand there is a mental thing to this as well however, I can't imagine my stomach even accepting that amount of food! Good luck on your journey and I hope you figure it out!!

    Intense Bubble Guts?!?

walk, walk, walk and gas x chewable tablets, cherry creme tastes like sweet tarts! They work within a few min and actually help me eat a little easier =)

    Leak 4Ever?!

Is there just crazy pain associated with a leak? I mean how do you know if you have one?? I'm behaving and not picking up stuff or my grandson (which he is not happy about lol) and I don't have any pain or anything, I'm just curious.. If overeat or pick up something or cough gosh! so much to be careful with!!!

    Cottage Cheese

I could have it in my mushy stage (2nd week for me) and man is it good! Only small curd though and chewed to a mush. I'm week 3 now and I eat it daily, plus it has some protein in it! anywhere I can get protein is a bonus for me lol

    This Is Frustrating!

I did ok on the pre op but mine was basically the Atkins diet not liquid. It was when I came home after surgery and couldn't eat anything but liquids for the first 2 weeks, my head was playing some games on me!! I cried and had a little pity party but now I'm 3 weeks out and halfway to normal foods again =) YAY! It's not that you can't have anything but liquids but that I can't eat but a few "licks" or sips of whatever and I'm done. I look at the rest of the food and get so aggravated I can't finish it or at least get a few more bites in. I know I need the protein and nutrition but it takes me all day to get down the protein and vitamins!! lol Such a weird head game, wanting and needing food but simply not being able to get it in. Good luck with the pre op and your sleeve journey, it's harder than I anticipated but I am down 32 lbs since I started pre op till now so it is all worth it!!! Almost to Onederland!!!
  24. I was thinking the same thing!! DisneyTeach: I am so glad you posted this!! I get so frustrated only being able to lick the back of my spoon a couple of times of yogurt, Soup or whatever and getting full!! I know I need to eat but can't and it's so frustrating!!! Today I am 3 weeks post op so knowing I am halfway to my six weeks and I will be able to eat a reasonable amount makes me smile Thanks!!
